The Deception Valley Lodge is truly a unique "jewel" in the bush. It provides excellent chalets, a nice pool, a fantastic terrace right in front of a waterwhole. The whole area has no fences and the managers don't interfere in the wildlife, except from providing water during the dry period. Jacub and Namsie are an excellent team and will provide...

Spent three nights at this lodge as part of a bigger Botswana trip. Unique secluded setting. Best lion sightings. Best food by miles. Best animal tracking. Best lion roars. The hosting / owner team are fantastic and very welcoming.

One never tires of the sound of lions making their presence known at night. Glad you could share this with us.

My husband and I (~50 yrs) traveled with his mother (85 yrs) and nephew (11 yrs) and everyone LOVED it. From an old hunting reserve where the animals were all scared off, they have built a magical place where guests can witness up close a well managed eco system. To put our comments into perspective, we stayed in three places...

Wonderful 3 nights in May 2016. This camp had what I was looking for, beginning with a great guide and committed trackers, and plenty of lions!! It is not for the faint hearted or first time safari tourist who want to tick the boxes. So if you want to feel alive... and eat delicious food, sleep to sounds of the...

Thank you Angelo for taking the time to give feedback on your stay. The lions have contributed a lot to the excitement here this past winter and we expect them to remain active around the lodge until it has rained and the game becomes more dispersed

Would definitely recommend this wonderful spot, for the food, the generous hospitality, excellent game and nature viewing. Jaco is very knowledgable about birds, plants and animals (and a brave off-road bunds-basher). Nisqa is a great cook and Xega is an amazing spotter who doesn't miss a mouse day or night. We loved the bushman walk learning about the tools and...

Good to know that the combination of various destinations in Botswana with camps in the Delta, Linyati and the Kalahari was a good choice.

Staying at Deception Valley Lodge was a truly great experience! From day one we enjoyed this absolute remote, peaceful and private place in the middle of the Kalahari. The chalets are spread out to ensure privacy and are very spacious with a living-, bed-, and bathroom, including a classy bathtub as well as outdoor shower. Nearly all the chalets have...

We echo all the 5 star reviews about this lodge, owners and staff. Jaco met us at the plane and for the next 2 days we experienced his attention and amazing knowledge of the animals, birds, vegetation, history and ecology- he is so well rounded and enjoyable to listen to. We had a great lion encounter from the landrover watching...

Thank you for your enthusiasm about the lodge. You may find it amazing to see the image of the five lionesses drinking water at the swimming pool last night. The image was taken by Jacobus and is on facebook. These young ones have been very active around the lodge lately.

The difference between DVL and the lodges within Chobe National Park is that the owners of DVL actually own all the land around it. That means that they can drive off road and at night. We spent most of the time with Braam, a 5th generation Botswanan from a cattle ranching family. He was unfailingly attentive and gracious and was...

We loved this lodge. The staff here are absolutely fantastic the place has a real family feel. The bushman experience was very enjoyable and we learnt a lot about their culture. There are a couple of young male lions who you can't help but bumping into whenever you go out on a game drive. For the kalahari we saw a...

After 2 days aboard a boat on The Chobe River, and 3 days on the Okavango Delta, my wife and (adult) son wanted to experience a new safari experience around the drier grasslands of the Central Kalahari.
