To the south east of the lodge, the Savuti Marsh beckons with its unique game viewing opportunities. The Marsh is a relic of an inland lake which is fed by the Savuti channel. Covered by extensive savannah and rolling grasslands, the wildlife is dynamic year round. The dry and wet seasons change the scenery and offer sightings of the annual migrations of zebras and predators. Elegance abounds in the eleven well-appointed canvas suites, which have been elevated on wooden decks, ensuring spectacular sunrise views. An exclusive and intimate ambience permeate this understated luxury lodge affording even the most discerning of travellers to Botswana a truly unique safari experience. Ghoha Hills is an eco lodge, using solar power for minimum impact to the environment. The lodge blends into the natural environment whilst maintaining the integrity of the pristine natural bush.

Ghoha hills
We were welcomed by all members of staff standing on the steps and singing a delightful welcome song in Setswana. It brought tears to our eyes after a long and difficult journey with a one year old baby.
Everything about this place was exceptional: the accommodation, beautifully decorated room well secluded from the next one, with just everything you need, the comfortable large bed with a mosquito net around it, very important in this area, the location, wonderful views from the bedroom.
We just loved the place. When it was time for an aperitif we were treated to more songs and dance around the fire.
We were asked to give our washing and as we had already spent one week moving from one hôtel to another this was so welcome, our washing came back just a few hours later, no charge all part of the service.
And then of course, I must talk about the staff, every member of staff was kind welcoming and very helpful I would like to mention Kennedy especially who took us on two safaris and was a mine of knowledge. We asked him thousands of questions and he answered them all very patiently. Ghoha hills will remain my favourite place where we stayed in Botswana, it was just FABULOUS.
We feel still connected with Ghoha hills as my daughter recorded the singers and my grandson watches it two or three times a day. Wonderful memories!
We thought when we booked Ghoha hills that the price was high however having experienced this lodge and all the service they have provided we think it was excellent value for money

My husband and I had planned a trip for many years to Botswana. Eventually it came true. We wanted to experience both the Chobe/Savuti area and the Okavango area. Over the years we have come to realize how important location is, and especially a beautiful view from our hotel accommodation wherever we are. Ghoha Hills in Savuti did absolutely not disappoint. The views from all the rooms, Lounge, Dining and Pool areas are magnificent....located on a high ridge looking forever over the African Plains. We spent many hours at the pool during the hot midday periods and spent hours just watching the view, and listening to the African bush. As an added bonus, there is a waterhole just below the camp, and there were frequently elephants, buck and a variety of birdlife at the hole. Amazing to just sit perched above them watching quietly. We must also comment on the staff. Truly superb. Botswanan hospitality is in a league of its own. Edwin, the Manager, was especially helpful and quietly attentive but not invasive. We would go back in a flash!

Ghoha Hills has such an amazing location, beautifully perched on a red clay hill overlooking the surrounding plains. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and had a phenomenal view of a water hole which was perfect for sunsets and animal watching. The food was the best out of all of the camps we visited (chef Hope did such an amazing job). This choir was also our favorite out of the camps- their singing brought me to tears. Allen, our guide, was so warm, educational, and had such an enthusiasm for wildlife. He made our stay above and beyond special, and we are so grateful to have gotten to know him. The magic of Ghoha Hills is due not only to the natural beauty, but to the staff who deeply touched our hearts. There were many tears shed when the time came to leave. I hope to be able to return to this magical place again!

I would not change one thing about this lodge; it was perfect in every way. The tents all have beautiful views and there is a water hole down the hill. I went to sleep every night listening to elephants splash and play. The tents are large and luxurious. No a/c but there are fans to move the air. They recycle the shower water which I appreciate. The lodge has a blind used for sundowners and the water hole there attracts many, many animals. We were lucky and saw a pack of wild dogs! I lost count of the number of elephants that drank from that spot. Goha Hills has a small pool which was quite refreshing between morning and afternoon game drives. The food, prepared by Chef Hope was amazing. My favorite was when she cooked a traditional Botswanan dinner. Kay was our server and she somehow knew what we wanted before we wanted it. The manager, Edwin, took the time to talk to us like we were old friends. And I can't say enough good things about our guide, Timothy. If we wanted to watch the lioness with her three cubs for an hour, he patiently let us. One of my favorite lodges.

We had a two night stay at Ghoha Hills, a very lovely spot with the tents perched on the side of the hill at elevation approx 3090 feet. The lodge looks down on the local watering hole and across the savanna.

The tents are well appointed. There is a beautiful common area / dining area and bar where you can use Wi-Fi and charge your devices.

Kennedy, our guide, was fantastic. We had a games drive our way to the camp from the airstrip and we saw zebras, ostrich, wildebeest, giraffes and many birds. Upon arrival at Ghoha we had lunch made by our wonderful Chef Hope. We had dinner by the fire pit accompanied with great wine from South Africa. After dinner, we learned that it was Hope’s birthday. We sang happy birthday to her and we danced and sang with the staff around the fire pit.

We opted for the all day game drive and stopped by a 1500-year-old baobob tree to stretch our legs and had our morning snack. We saw Sekoti the famous male lion born without a tassel on his tail. We followed Sekoti quite a distance while he was looking for his 3 brothers but didn’t see his brothers. We had a beautiful lunch among the zebra, wildebeest and elephants under a large Acacia tree. We made a stop to see rock paintings that had been done by bushmen. What a day!

Two days was not long enough for a stay at Ghoha. Edwin, the manager, and Kennedy, Chef Hope and the rest of the staff were great and they made us feel like old friends.

Very nice lodge up on the hill with an outstanding view and the animals came to the water hole every day which was in front of our balcony. The staff were wonderful and the food served at the table was delicious. Our guide Kennedy told us all about animals, footprints and old medicine use of plants which was very interesting. Every day he took us on two jeep safaris where we saw lots of animals including lion cubs.
We will gladly return to this camp which has everything, nothing is missing, the tents are large and very nicely furnished.

We stayed at Ghoha Hills Lodge for two nights for the third time in August 2024 and really enjoyed every minute. Everything was just right! The location alone with the panoramic view over the savannah and the view to a waterhole - you could sit there for hours and watch nature.
We would especially like to mention the people who make Ghoha Hills what it is. Edwin, the manager, always answered our questions about nature and the land willingly and competently. The friendly crew made our stay extremely pleasant with excellent cuisine and attentive service.
The guides deserve special mention, as their extensive experience and broad knowledge made the game drives, which were individually designed to the guests' wishes, truly unforgettable. We learned so much more about life in the savannah than on many other game drives!
This time we had the great pleasure of meeting the owners of the lodge, whose generosity and love for Botswana's wilderness clearly breathes Ghoha Hills!

We fell in love with Ghoha Hills Savuti. Our flight to Maun didn’t land on time so we got to the lodge’s airstrip a little later than expected. Our guide, Ran, explained that there wouldn’t be time for a game drive that afternoon after we settled in at the lodge, so he offered to take his time driving us to the lodge and show us some animals on the way. We saw lions, elephants, several types of antelopes, zebras, a jackal, hornbills and more just driving from the airstrip to the lodge.

The location is breathtaking, the rooms and views are amazing, and the staff is so attentive and kind. Not just making sure all your needs are taken care of, but genuinely warm and caring. The lodge is especially impressive because it runs on solar power.

The food was delicious; morning tea and sundowners were served out on the game drives!

Ran continued to deliver in terms of tracking the animals and getting us close to, but at a safe distance from, the animals. He was so knowledgeable about creatures from termites to elephants.

I cannot imagine a better experience. We’re so grateful that our travel agent chose Ghoha Hills for us!

In early October, we spent two nights at Ghoha Hills Lodge as self-drivers. The journey was adventurous, manageable with a 4WD and some experience. Ghoha Hills Lodge in Botswana exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The manager and the guides on the game drives demonstrated impressive professionalism and passion for wildlife. The accommodations were comfortable, the food was top-notch, and the breathtaking landscape completed an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for nature lovers and safari enthusiasts!

Dear Alexandra123, Thank you for your message. Please find the information you require below: 1) How far is it from Livingstone? Livingstone to Ghoha Hills is approx 212km’s (4hrs 50mins) 2) Is it worth the extra travel time for a two days visit? Yes definitely– to experience the world famous Savuti Marsh 3) What is the best way to travel to Ghoha Hills Savuti from Livingstone (rent a car or coordinate a ride) with a 4x4 vehicle, Tarred road from Livingstone to Kachikau, 50km of dirt road from Kachikau to Ghoha gate and 7km’s from Ghoha gate to Ghoha Hills Lodge. 4) Any recommendations for booking a Safari during the visit? Any help would be much appreciated! I hope we are able to make it work! Thank you! Two nights at Ghoha Hills Lodge is advisable for a full day game drive at the Savuti Marsh. Regards, The Ghoha Hills team
