Two glorious nights in a glorious place. Can't remember ever staying in a nicer, more luxurious accomodation than the King Shaka suite. The most comfortable bed in the world. Loved the African style and colours - very tasteful. And the peace and quiet - it's nicer listening to whales than cars. All this, and as a bonus the friendliest hosts...

We stayed at Unmenge Lodge for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The room (& bathroom) was great, the location great & the food was excellent. Richard & Mary could not have been more accommodating. Finally, Jessica the alsation (not allowed in the house) must be one of the best hostesses in the canine world. She was always friendly...

We had a stunning time staying at Umnene Lodge this November, even we had unfortunately just one night. The lodge is very new and nicely decorated to every authentic African detail. Breakfast is excellent, especially the home made bred! The great and warm hospitality of Mary and Richard will never been forgotten. We come back soon to this exceptional place...

We have recently returned from a wonderful stay at Umnenge Lodge. The owners built the lodge themselves and their attention to detail is clearly reflected in the rooms, which are extremely stylish and comfortable. We were woken to the sound of whales blowing outside our room each morning - and a wonderful view of the ocean from our balcony. The...

We have stayed in De Kelders before as it's a fantasic place to spot whales - much quieter than Hermanus, which is on the other side of the bay. This was our first stay at Umnenge Lodge, and I think this is the first Trip Advisor review as the place has only been open a few months. We could not...

This place is amazing! We arrived in Gansbaai late one evening (about 9:30), hoping to get some cage diving arranged for the following day. We drove through town and out the other side before we realised we'd arrived, and couldn't see any guest houses on the main road, so we stopped at a restaurant called Tolbos, and asked for advice....

My wife and I stayed at the Umnenge Lodge in October and it was honestly the highlight of our trip to South Africa. We saw and heard dozens of whales from our bedroom, which were swimming literally only a few meters from land. Our bedroom was five-star worthy (bed and bathroom especially) and the hospitality was by far the best...

WOW what a fantastic lodge. We had an awesome stay here. The decor throughout the lodge is stunning. The rooms and bathrooms are five star and the views from the bedroom are breathtaking, you literally have the whales on your doorstep. The food was out of this world and the hosts Richard and Mary are the perfect hosts, nothing was...

Umnenge Lodge is simply a fantastic place to stay and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The rooms are very luxurious, spacious and finished with a lavish African feel. A nice touch was binoculars in my room – perfect as Southern Right Whales can be regularly seen from the coast below. My bathroom was lovely – a real spoil, it...
