How amazing to be dropped into the middle of the bush, surrounded by every kind of animal and bird you've imagined, and yet living in a luxurious "villa," dining on delicious food, and learning about the region and its inhabitants from knowledgeable and charming guides. Other reviewers have described the daily routine and the excellent meals. I will just give...

For the second year in a row, we had the opportunity to stay at the Vlei Lodge this past April for three nights/four days. It was wonderful. There are only six chalets and the service is five star including the wonderfully prepared meals. We went out on two game drives each day and one evening we dined with others from...

I had been looking at the reviews for Vlei Lodge for over two years and I was pretty sure that I was going to love it, but it exceeded even my expectations. Kathryn, the manager at Vlei greeted us as soon as we arrived. We had just driven from Rock Lodge so we were quite early and had to wait...

Phinda is a special place. It is one of the largest private reserves in So Africa, available only to the few guests that are staying there. This means that you could go all day without seeing another vehicle. It also means that if you are dead set on seeing a black rhino that day, you might have to track him...

The rooms here are big enough to be generous one bedroom apartments. The food is SO GOOD - They didn't nickname the chef Magic for no reason. We saw amazing animals and the staff were impeccable. The attention to detail was amazing, from the hot water bottles waiting in the game drive vehicle every morning to the little surprises like...

Amazing experience. We selected andBeyond because of their ethics and involvement in conservation efforts. How there is a 1 star rating on TA is just plain incorrect. If you're looking for a hotel experience with a gym and good wifi, this isn't your place. The lodge is set in the middle of a private game reserve off the beaten path....

We were there in late May this time and the animal viewing was excellent, lots of cats, including leopards which are harder to see. Good elephant sightings, including a large herd we tracked, white and black rhino, hippos, giraffe, zebra and all the other hoofed animals. No wild dogs, also difficult to find. We stayed at both Rock and Vlei...

We had a lodge directly overlooking the Vlei with a plunge pool that was a favourite watering hole for lots of the animals including a huge bull elephant that was no more than 6 feet from us (slightly scary but awesome sighting). The game drives were fabulous. As Dave are guide said "quality not quantity" but we had no complaints...

Having stayed at Phinda Rocks last year I was expecting at least the same. NOT even close. Maybe it was the wrong season but the wildlife was scarce. The ranger consistently refused to go to the Vlei where we saw most of the animals but insisted on tracking animals we never found. Tracking is fine if you have days to...

This was our first safari experience and I can't say enough about the staff and the accommodations. The room was beautiful. We actually viewed the wildlife drinking from our private plunge pool. The food was amazing, chef Happiness actually gave you a choice of options for each meal, and customized according to our preferences. (My husband felt the food was...
