Driving 4 days back to Iowa. Picked this hotel as price was great and much lower then all the next door chains. The manager let me see the room first. It was not fancy, but plenty good for 7-8 hours of sleep to get up and leave again. It ended up being very quiet, which was what I was worried about, but other guests were further away and quiet I guess. There were only drinks in the morning, but that was because of Covid. I had brought all my own cleaning supplies for hotel stops and was pleasantly surprised that I could not find any dirt in my room, including the tv control. (I had stayed at a chain the night before double the price and the first thing I sanitized was the TV control which I got all kinds of dark black muck off of it.) So this was a pleasant surprise here that everything was clean. Will stay again if on that road.

As a former Microtel, the single queen room is small, but knew that coming in. Bedding, walls, carpet, bathroom floor-good. One piece tub shower is original and flexes when you stand on it but no risk of dirty caulk with this set up. The built in desk and night stands have seen better days, but if you're going to skimp somewhere, this is where. Good breakfast for a budget place. I'd consider staying here again, but if the carpet is allowed to become more worn looking or soiled then no. I've also stayed at the Days Inn nearby, which has nicer rooms but no security and very small breakfast area.

Normally we stay with the chains and gather points but this cute hotel had lower rates so we decided to check it out. Desert Inn is locally owned in the middle of the big chain hotels just off I-40, near McDonald & Taco Bell, they have a large parking area & parked our truck & trailer along curb. Good first impression & clean hotel, met super friendly & informative Twyla at check in & made our decision to stay. We chose 2 Queens downstairs, dog friendly, comfy beds, wall mounted TV with lots of channels, small bathroom with soft towels, sparkling indoor pool & hot tub, 75 cent sodas, $1.50 wash/$1.00 dryer, a free hotel postcard w/stamp, Route 66 adult t-shirts $12, & 2 free water bottles in room. Note: no elevator but cheaper rates upstairs. Twyla told us about a free shuttle to the Pow Wow Restaurant- they picked us up quickly & returned us when we finished our meal. No wait. Their Chile Relleno, tamale & taco were the best!!!
Breakfast had green Chile sauce for the eggs and I also added the sauce to the biscuits & gravy! They also served 4 different cereals, and all the other typical breakfast items.
Kudos to Twyla for being such a great ambassador for the Desert Inn and Tucumcari!
It was a great stay & will stop here again!!

Parts of this motel are still being updated but if you don't mind a little older furnishings, you get a discount for those rooms that aren't done. Clean and comfortable. No elevator.

Breakfast was the usual but fine. Lovely indoor pool area. Only reservation---we were in a pet friendly room at the end of the building near the truck stop and trucks idling all night made it noisy.

Would stay again.

I was skeptical of staying at The Desert Inn because the price is significantly lower than other hotels in the area. I am glad I made the decision to stay at The Desert Inn. The room was fine and very comfortable. Twyla at the front desk was very helpful, even when I lost my key about 10 minutes after I received it. I did not get the name of the gentleman at the front desk but he was professional and kind.

We booked online after reading a few reviews. When we got to the hotel we asked for a first floor room because we can not do stairs and no elevator. we had to pay an additional $10 for first floor because the rooms were redone a few years ago and therefore better. we could not cancel the room because we had already paid online. Our room was outdated and old except newer carpet. Also the halls and rooms smelled of overdone cheap powdered carpet cleaner! I would not stay here again. Several other hotels close by with cheaper or similar price. The pool and breakfast were not available because of covid.

We arrived and reservation was made in advance with Twyla. Twyla was very informative on how rooms were cleaned and even tho we didn't expect food, there was all day/night coffee and juice; that was great. we found the rooms very clean and it was quiet as well. we will stop there again.

Like others have mentioned, we usually stay at chain hotels to earn points. This place had such great reviews that we decided to give it a try. The price was good; breakfast is included and there is an indoor pool with a hot tub. The lady at check in is just as great as everyone says! There is no elevator, so keep that in mind. The pool was very cold the night we visited. Also, there was no meat option at breakfast. The green chile sauce is a nice touch, though. I would recommend this place.

I called property at about 1030p from road and Twyla was pleasant and helpful.

Quick easy checking on arrival. Room was clean and property well lit for single female. Bed comfortable, and breakfast pkentiful in the morning.

Special thanks to Sylvester. I had lost my phone charging cord some where, and he gave me his personal charging cord from his vehicle so I would not be on road without a phone.

I will be back next time I need a place in Tucumcari.

I have no idea, but I don’t see why not. As long as you have a credit card, they don’t ask your age.

I suggest you call. The great thing about dealing with a smaller place, rather than a faceless corporate website, is that you can deal with a human being on the hotel premises.
