On a rugged dolomite ridge overlooking a vast African wilderness, you will find a hidden treasure called Impodimo. Taken from the Tswana words Mpho Dimo, Impodimo means a gift from God, and is truly a slice of heaven on earth. Rise in the morning to an African dawn and enjoy an early morning game drive with your dedicated professional ranger. Relax as your ranger guides you through the bush on a custom made open Land Rover, searching out the Big 5 or the smaller secrets of nature. Set out on a foot safari with your armed ranger and learn the secrets of tracking African game or just enjoy the trees, birds and stunning scenery. Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool or the sala overlooking the waterhole where game may come to quench their thirst. In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out again on a sundowner safari, where you will stop to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise and enjoy your favourite sundowner drink. Once the sun has set and darkness descends, set off again for a night safari where the more nocturnal creatures now rule the bush. Return to the lodge where you will be treated to the finest Pan-African cuisine with your hosts in the open air boma, and share your days adventures, while you enjoy a night cap around the fire. Impodimo Game Lodge is set along a rocky ridge commanding stunning vistas of the reserve. It is also located at the source of a natural spring, which provides the lodge with elevated views as well as riverine serenity. The lodge offers dawn and dusk safaris. The safaris are carefully timed to ensure optimal seasonal comfort. Whilst Impodimo has 10 suites, its capacity is 16 guests. Each of the suites have been carefully positioned to ensure absolute privacy. Spacious in design, each includes a closed system fireplace, climate control air conditioner, mini bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and full en-suite bathroom and outside shower. Your private deck allows uninterrupted views of the Madikwe Game Reserve.

Our trip to Impodimo was delayed from our initial plans in Mar 2020 thanks to the pandemic. The lodge "saved" our reservation for us and we finally managed to stay in August 2022. It was more than worth the wait and I can't say enough "great" things about all aspects of the lodge, the staff and the safari experience. We travelled on safari in 2016 in Tanzania, staying at many upscale accommodations. However, none closely compare with the excellent experience we had at Impodimo. From the moment we arrived until we departed, we had wonderful service, food and our guide and tracker were simply amazing. We have friends now booked to stay in September and I would highly recommend the lodge to anyone considering a South Africa safari experience.

We have waited for our Safari experience for more then 2 years so clearly our expectations and excitement were quite high. And still it was all much better then we could have imagined! We are family of three and we stayed in Impodimo for 5 nights. The lodge with the water whole view was amazing and we spent many hours between the drives just staring at so many animals visiting. The elephant hide pictures came out spectacular. For the game drives we had Sam as ranger and Lotts as tracker and they both deserve a special price. Our son had so many questions and we all learned so much. We have seen so many animals on the drives amazingly close - especially lions and cheetahs. And the food… From morning drive snack to the dinner in the main lodge - everything was delicious. Service and hospitality of the whole team certainly beyond 5 stars. Highly recommended to everyone!

We've been on safari several times in South Africa but Impodimo and Madikwe topped them all. This review will never do it justice - it was heaven from start to (very sad) finish. I did A LOT research of pretty much every 'luxury' and 'ultra lux' lodge in Madikwe. Impodimo represented great value for incredible luxury. Also one of only a couple of lodges that's unfenced and provides trackers as well as guides in the park which is a bonus. The staff were so warm and couldn't have done more for us, from the wonderful Lyne during booking to the best guide we've ever had, (Sneaky) Ruben, so knowledgeable and friendly. The room and lodge were spectacular, we saw so much game over 4 days/nights and all of the many meals/snack times (including the wonderful surprise bush braii) were absolutely delicious. I'm allergic to gluten and for everything my husband could eat they'd made a gf free version (mini doughnuts, waffles, lemon tart, all the cakes). Best place I've stayed for gluten free. Madikwe (and it'll always be Impodimo) over Kruger/Sabi Sands from now on, and I never thought I'd say that. We cannot wait to return!

It was my mother's birthday and she finally agreed to go away somewhere with me. She loves nature and animals so a game reserve was ideal. The travel agent offered a few options in Madikwe Game Reserve and I resolved on Impodimo. Literally, upon arrival at the entrance gate, we were warmly received by the friendly security gentleman. Lindah and her team received us. Lindah's team whisked our luggage to our room whilst she oriented us at the deck with a magnificent view of the reserve. When we eventually got to our room, it exceeded our expectations - simply beautiful. Ofentse and his culinary team, took excellent care of us. I really really really appreciated the attention to detail and mindfulness of our dietary needs. I am grateful for the specially made birthday cake and desserts for my mom who is diabetic. My mother is a sensitive spirit and she was treated with much care. The only issue was that THERE WAS JUST WAY TOO MUCH DELICIOUS FOOD!!! I felt assailed by yummy nourishment 🙃. Thank you for your conscientiousness Blythe, Sam and Lotz. Impodimo is a slice of heaven, nourishing and blissful.

Everything feels, tastes and looks better in the bush. The atmosphere, food and decor are amazing at Impodimo, the people are so nice and make you feel really special and at home, they all go the extra mile, from the rangers to the staff on the floor and even in the kitchen. The food is to die for, every day the menu is different, you cannot go home with an empty stomach! The rooms are superb, very private with a fantastic view into the valley, and don’t forget to pay a visit to their ‘hide’ where you can get very close to the animals visiting the lodge’s pond, ideal for some nice close-up pictures.

Even one day of torrential rain couldn't put a dampener on this place - helped by the fact that our guide went to extraordinary lengths to track down the game (there's even some of that wondering around the camp!). The staff are helpful, seem genuinely pleased to have you there and nothing appears to be too much trouble. The food is great, as is the accommodation. We liked it when we arrived, we grew to love it.

Where do I start... 5 stars is not enough. Lodge staff are all so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The little touches made the difference - the bedtime notes left for us as an example. Thanks to Blythe and the whole team. Food is 5 star in both its cooking and presentation and plentiful. Even when no food was scheduled you just asked and nibbles would appear. The Bush Dinner was a little unexpected treat and the evening in the lodge Boma. We had Duck, Impala, Lamb Tagine, Beef, Venison and more. Room 2 with a view of the waterhole meant that we spent much of our free time just watching the animals and then rushing to the Hide to get close up to them. Rooms are as luxurious as they look on the Web. Game Drives where of course the highlight. 4 out of the big 5 by the end of our first 2 drives. We even had one moment when we could see 4 of them all at once, albeit everything was keeping a distance from the loved up lions. Besides the expected Game animals we saw Cheetah, Eland, Hyena and a Serval. Meri (our guide) was the best. She has such knowledge and humour. We will never forget her. She was supported by Culture (the tracker) who would stop us all in our conversations with a wave of his hand because he saw a print. The Sunsets (with Sundowners) and Sunrises (with coffee and Muffins) where Awesome. I recommend anyone to go to this place for the peace, quiet, animal sightings ( especially the Ellie that likes the pool rather than the waterhole).

I stayed here with my wife and 18-year-old son for three nights in the family suite. I had never visited Madikwe Reserve before, but have done many safaris from other reserves and lodges. To say I was pleased might be the understatement of a lifetime. My main concern in booking a safari is the quality of the game experience. We say 4 of the big 5 in our first day, missing only the leopard. The absence of leopard sightings was more than made up for with sightings of 5 cheetahs (3 young siblings and 2 mature brothers) and a pack of 18 wild dogs. Sam "wise" was our driver and Lotts was our tracker. Lotts was diligent about tracking game and Sam is perhaps the best driver/guide I've ever had the pleasure of being assigned to. I am returning with a group in October and am requesting both Sam and Lotts again. As for the comforts, the family suite was incredible. We switched to cabins 1 and 3 after extending our intended stay by one night and both were fantastic. You MUST take advantage of the hide. We thought, "why bother, the elephants are so close anyway?" and we were decidedly wrong. We literally were within just a few of these amazing animals. The food was universally outstanding. Oxtail cut off the bone and served in a stew-like dish was the best serving of oxtail I've ever eaten. My only complaint was the quantity of food. I had no desire to gain 7 pounds, but everything is so delicious, it's had to NOT gain weight. Every single staff person was as helpful and polite as possible. FOLLOW the directions of the lodge to get here, NOT Google Maps.

We had 3 nights in the family suite, which was gorgeous and really perfect for our family of 5 (including a 7-month old). Our rooms and view were perfect. All was so comfortable, with loads of thoughtful touches. The staff were superb and tended to our every need. Everyone there was attentive and helpful, and we felt very much at home. Kevin was our guide, and Lots was our tracker. Kevin is also the General Manager at the lodge, and he looked after us so very well (even going above and beyond by searching for 45 minutes for my lost earring!) Our drives were superb. We saw every animal we'd hoped to see, many times over. We learned so much from Kevin, and both Kevin and Lots did a super job of showing us the best of Madikwe (which is a fabulous reserve). The watering hole was frequently visited by so many animals, including a herd of elephants while we sat and watched. A shout out to Simone and Shade who looked after us at the lodge. They were really wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for them to help us with. Really, the staff, the service, the amenities, the game drives, the food, and all the small details came together to make this a wonderful trip with so many happy memories. My family is so grateful, and I highly recommend Impodimo. We are very glad we stayed there, and we hope to return before too long!
