This lodge provides the perfect combination of luxury accommodation and attentive, friendly service. The individual rooms are individual cottages with private terrace with river view where you can enjoy the quiet and maybe get a glimpse of wildlife. There is a shallow section at room 6 where other clients could see several animals coming across the river so request that one...

Thank you for your review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the lodge! We do apologise for your disappointment regarding walking safaris. As walking in the reserve is a potentially strenuous activity with possible unknown and variable elements that could require rapid and efficient movement out of an area, it is a legal requirement of the...

Makanyane is one of the most incredible and amazing places you could visit. What a privilege it was and the memories we'll take away will stay with us for life. Lynette and the staff make you feel like family and it's hard to leave. The lodge is authentic and extraordinary. Luxurious beds and rooms and the food quality is first...

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are so glad you felt like part of the family, Makanyane is a special place, somewhere where everyone should feel completely at home. Dylan naturally agrees entirely that he is a legend. Difficult as it is to admit, it is true, he and the other members of our guiding team have...

This was the first lodge we visited of four in total and it was a perfect start in every respect. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our four night stay in breath-taking surroundings, attended to by outstanding staff, enjoying top class cuisine. What more could we ask for. Special thanks to our guide Trevor who really made the trip for...

Many thanks for your review Jenny. 109 species is a really good number, I hope that several were "lifers", Madikwe really is terrific for birders! We are so glad that you stayed with us and that you enjoyed your time at the lodge, we hope to see you again to see if we can improve on that list!

We chose to stay at Makanyane for the final stop of our honeymoon trip. We got a private charter plane in to Madikwe, where we were picked up by Trevor, one of the guides. On the way back to the lodge, we had already seen elephant, giraffe and lots of other animals. Having been on safari in a range of...

Myself, my partner, and the rest of my family (6 of us in total) stayed at Makanyane for 3 nights towards the end of September. My parents had stayed at Makanyane 12 years ago - they told my sister and I at the time that we had to go to Makanyane and experience it for ourselves, as it truly was...

We arrived at Makanyane having spent some time in the Kruger National Park at another safari lodge and were therefore able to compare the experiences and the truth is that Makanyane was better!! The game viewing in Madikwe is in my view much better with a large number of animals in the overall reserve giving you an excellent chance to...

Thank you for your kind review, we greatly appreciate it! Dylan is very happy that you enjoyed your experience with him and that you had such incredibly lucky game viewing! (The dirt road has just been graded, so will hopefully be a smoother ride for the next while! Alternatively, there are daily scheduled flights into and out of the reserve.)

This experience exceeded all my expectations. When you arrive you're greeted with a cool towel and a refreshing juice- and that level of service continues the entire time. We stayed in chalet #7 (Wild Olive) and the accomodations are large, clean and chic. I could have lounged on the veranda for days....but was always too excited to head out on...

Many thanks for your wonderful review! We are thinking of nicking your line: ” if you're looking for incredible service, a beautiful setting, delicious food & drink, all accompanied by the thrill of elephants, lions, rhinos and many more animals, look no further” as our next marketing slogan!

From the moment of stepping out of the transfer vehicle and been greeted with smiles and refreshing towels, we knew we were in for a good time.
