Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Everything at Tuningi is 5 stars - from the beautiful lodge, to the delicious food, to the incredible game drives to the stellar service, Tuningi staff go out of their way to make your Safari amazing! Our family of 10 was welcomed warmly, every staff member knew our names within minutes and worked to ensure our every need was taken care of. The lodge’s location by the watering hole is magical, with special animal encounters throughout the day. The Safari guides are so knowledgable and enthusiastic! Our guide Martin made our entire trip! We cannot wait to return!
Tuningi Lodge provided the most amazing safari experience for our family of 5 last week (including my 4 year old granddaughter) 3 living in Joburg and 2 of us from the US. Gavin, our guide, was extremely knowledgable about all kind of wildlife and birds, taught us so much about the various animals and he was very determined to find the most for us to see~ we saw 16 on our first afternoon out ! The accomodations were luxurious, the pool lovely, all of the meals were soooo delicious. Heidi, Michelle, Kennedy and all of the support personnel couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. One definitely senses that the whole team is dedicated to each guest having the most special experience. Thank you for the most memorable time~ job well done !
We absolutely enjoyed our 4 days stay. Heidi and the team went all out to make our stay enjoyable. It was our anniversary and my birthday a day after. For both days we were made to feel special. The cuisine was out of this world. There is a gym on site and massage is offered at the comfort of your room. Thank you for the time well spent. Sekoati
This was our second time to Tuningi as a family. We absolutely love it there. The food is amazing, the game drives spectacular - even if you do not find what you are looking for - the guide still makes it worth your while by giving interesting facts. Gavin and Heidi and all the people that work there feel like family. They are very professional yet very personal and make you feel at home. I had my birthday there and they made the day so special that I felt like a princess. I believe this was my best birthday ever. The rooms are spacious and luxurious and the waterhole with the lookout makes watching game fun and exiting. The rooms have a fireplace which is like a very welcoming hug when you walk in the room in the cold evenings. They think of everything. Hot water bottles on the cold morning drives with a nice coffee stop along the way. In the afternoon there is nothing better than a sunset drink. Gavin our guide is a spectacular tracker which is very interesting and exciting especially if you get rewarded with a pack of lions catching a kudu. I cannot wait to visit my new family again.…
We visited in February with two primary school aged children. Though a beautiful time it wasn’t the ideal season for game viewing with the vegetation very lush. Nevertheless we had a wonderful time and even saw the entire big 5 in one drive. The highlight was when got visited by elephants while in the swimming pool. My boys peppered our guide Martin incessantly with questions during game drives and he answered nearly everything with patience and in-depth knowledge. One of the most knowledgeable guides we have had having been to many game reserves. The family rooms are lovely and spacious and we spotted giraffes, wildebeest and elephants from the deck. The only slight discomfort is the shower is outdoors only though the tub is inside. There are lovely touches for kids including activity books, games and storybooks in the room. The kids club kept them busy for an interlude everyday so we could get a nap :) Food was good and they made an effort to help with our dietary requirements and separate kids meals which they loved. All in all a fantastic experience. The best part was the staff and management who were all absolutely lovely.…
This has been our 15th visit to Tuningi and we are still impressed! Is it the high quality cuisine? Is it the professional service and very friendly staff? Is it the extremely knowledgeable game rangers? Is it the above standard maintenance of the rooms and lodge over the last 10 years? Is it the 4G mobile internet reception? Is it the small size of the lodge that creates this welcome family feeling? Or is it the unique combination of all of the above? It is difficult to say, really... All we know is that we will be back! Thanks for consistently meeting and exceeding our expectations! Manfred & Rentia
This was my second visit - my wife's third - and we will no doubt return again... and again. We spent 4 absolutely wonderful days and nights here in March 2021. The lodge is very professionally run, yet the ambience is so relaxed and inviting. All the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are large and comfortable, and include all necessary requirements. The game drives are great and we saw a number of special and exciting sightings. The guides are professional and knowledgeable. Martin, in particular was brilliant, patiently and attentively attending to the numerous questions fired at him by two very young guests accompanied by their parents. We learnt so much too from these conversations. But the best thing about Tuningi is the food - 5-star, world-class, delicious, and plentiful. What a treat every meal was - many thanks to all the kitchen staff! This is a very special lodge, and highly recommended. We will be back!…
Amazing location! Our guide was awesome. Cant say enough good things about this place! The accommodations are just what you need for an enjoyable experience. Clean and well kept, no issues with noise or issues with safety.
We first went to Tuningi in 2007 and have returned approximately 14 times since. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Everything is five star from the accommodation to the food to the game drives. The “T” team treat every guest like family and bend over backwards to make your stay memorable.
We spent 2 days and 3 nights at this lovely resort. The safaris were the best we had in the country. The guide Andre was extremely knowlagble. We saw the big 5 plus numerous other animals and hundreds of birds. They are able to go off road which makes it very exciting. The resort has its own waterhole where all sorts of animals come for a drink, The rest of the staff couldn't do enough to make our stay special. The food was of a high quality and overly abundant . I am a vegetarian and their menu was excellent. The booking was unplanned and we were very lucky to get in. occured as we couldn't go into Zimbabwe due to the Virus. They were very keen to keep the place going to ensure all the staff had work. That was great to see.
