The three of us spent 6 nights at Shindzela. We chose the camp on its excellent TripAdvisor reviews. We were NOT disappointed. The camp consists of eight tents for guests, these were very comfortable with an open air en-suite shower-room, one niggle is that it would benefit from shelving or chest of drawers, in their absence we had to keep...

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful nights at Shindzela. We loved every minute of our stay, including the relaxing accommodation, beautiful surroundings and amazing game drives. All the staff were great, very friendly, helpful and chatty. We had Johan as our ranger for all our drives and his enthusiasm for and knowledge about the wildlife and local area was...

My very brief visit to Shindzela was the highlight of my 3 1/2 week trip to South Africa. The accommodation was excellent, food was great, game drives were brilliant (Sam, our guide, loved to off-road to get as up close and personal to the wildlife as possible), the camp was beautiful and quite an exciting place to be. We loved everything about this place. The accommodations are really cool. Tents that aren't really tents. Yes the walls are canvas but the floor is wood and roof is thatched. And the King sized bed could have easily been in a 5 star hotel. We went in August which is winter so the mornings were cold but the hot water...

Highly recommend! Three nights in Shindzela was the highlight of this trip. Eugene was our guide, and he was simply the best. You know you're having a good day when your guide is taking photos/videos of the animals. Multiple hyena eating a dead elephant carcass, two white lions (only three in the wild in the world), herds of cape buffalo,...

What an experience! We were here for 4 days, and we all wished we could stay longer. Our guide Johan gave us so many wonderful experiences, and we are forever gratefull. We had a total of 8 game drives, 4 morning and 4 afternoon, and every time we saw something new. Johan did his best to get us up close...

We have a few days overnight at the Jock Safari Camp. What a unique experience; The tents are equipped with good beds, a toilet and outdoor shower with hot water everywhere and LED lighting. It is here consciously with electricity and therefore they use solar power. We had a great guide, Johan, who has shown us very much. We have...

Arriving at Shindzela, we knew we were in for a more authentic safari experience than the more upscale lodges provide. This has eight individual tents with an attached private bathroom that is semi-open air. The tents were clean and comfortable. (Hot water bottles in the bed at night in the winter). The meals (all are included) were good, with the...

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was fantastic. The staff at Shindzela know how to make you welcome and how to ensure you have a good time. The accommodation was clean, tidy and very well cared for. The camp was always spotless. The game drives were brilliant with the guides working hard to make sure...

We had a once in a lifetime amazing stay at the Shindzela Tent camp. We spent 4 days and nights experiencing the wonders of the Tmibavati Game Reserve which shares an open border with Kruger National Park. We drove in, around and near the majestic animals of the park seeing the "Big 5" 3 of the 4 days we were...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Shindzela is an authentic tented bush camp situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, greater Kruger National Park. The camp accommodates a maximum of 16 guests and is unfenced, making it very much part of the wilderness. Shindzela is not built by an award winning architect, nor is it furnished by an interior designer. What you will find though, is a comfy bed, freshly laundered linen, and décor from local crafters and artists. Shindzela is a comfortable/rustic tented bush camp, where you can relax, enjoy our warm hospitality and immerse yourself in the African wilderness. We love our informal, relaxed atmosphere. Each safari tent is built on wooden decks, and has their own en-suite shower/toilet and hand basin. The camp also has a swimming pool and overlooks our little watering hole, from where you can watch animals come down to drink. ... more   less
