Established in 2009 as a mere walking trails camp, consisting out of small bow tents, Shindzela has grown into the wonderful tented product that is before you. Situated within the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa, Shindzela offers guests an authentic African wildlife experience. The eco-friendly (solar-powered) camp is the perfect place where one can feel part of the bush. We are passionate about conservation and our staff strive to make guests feel right at home. Our aim is to provide an enjoyable and fulfilling experience in an exceptional wilderness area. Included in your stay, Shindzela offers two game drives per day in open 4 x 4 vehicles– one early-morning and one late-afternoon/early- evening. We seat 8 guests per vehicle of which Shindzela has 2 safari vehicles operating on a private concession of approx 6500ha together with two other commercial lodges.

This tented camp, with ensuite bathrooms, is located in a quiet part of Timbavati and enjoys a pool and a lookout over a waterhole.
The Safari team worked hard to make our experience special, locating 12 lion in one area, tonnes of elephant, zebra, bok , rhino and leopard.
Book early as it is a small intimate camp.

Room Tip: The tent furthest from the central area is probably the best location, but they are all very good.

I think the trip advisor rating speaks for itself. What a place!! The whole location is just exciting and thrilling. The luxury tents are just fabulous. The waterhole is in a perfect location for seeing animals so clearly. The game drives are professional and exciting without putting you in danger. The 2 guides we had, Sam and Ruben were so brilliant. Both very different, but both as fabulous as each other. Johan also deserves a mention as he was great too. Andries the host was always ensuring everything was going well. Shindzela honestly exceeds with their Guides and game drives. We stayed 4 nights and guests were always changing, so the dynamic was ever evolving. All seated around 2 big tables, conversations were great fun. A hot drink and muffin were welcome in the cold mornings out on the drive and the sundowner so much fun also out on the evening drive. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 within 2 days! What a treat. The waterhole delivered superbly on our last day as a herd of elephants came to the waterhole and then down into the dry riverbed meters away from us. Our only advice is to take layers because we were much colder on the drives than we thought we would be! Oh and we had lovely hot water bottles waiting in our beds at night!!

Nice tented camp in the middle of timbavati reserve.
The accommodation is basic, but all the tents have a ensuite semiopen bathroom with a comfortable hot shower.
Food choice is limited, one option for lunch and two meat options for dinner, but everything tastes fine.
Game driver are worth the experience, guides and trackers know well how to do their job
Please consider that wifi is available but with a not guaranteed service

Had such an amazing time at the Shindzela lodge! Our bush guide Barrie and tracker Ray were such a great team and made the drives so enjoyable. It's amazing what they can see far before I would have ever noticed. Irene was so sweet and knowledgeable herself on many of the bush animals. I think a tent camp is just the way to go when it comes to a safari!! Could not have asked for a more better experience when it came to seeing some of the most majestic animals God created. All the employees of the camp were so friendly and welcoming, loved the nightly family style dinners!

Another exceptional experience at Shindzela! Sam and Oxide were an incredible team. Love this basic camp as it feels like "home" - comfortable and laid back with awesome game viewing. This was my fourth trip here and it never disappoints. They continue to improve - this time there was electricity in the tents and they added cubicles in the common area for charging all of your devices. Love the hot water bottles in bed and on morning game drives! Well run camp with amazing and passionate staff. Can't wait to return!

Fantastic experience on our safari. Brett and Jeff were a great guide and tracker, saw many animals and they worked very hard to make sure we saw as many animals as possible. Elephants. giraffes, lions, leopards, hyena, water buck and more. The food was good and our room was good. Highly recommend and would return again

Fantastic experience. Really friendly and professional staff. The food and drinks were great and so was the setting/scenery in the gorgeous Timbavati Private Game Reserve. The game drives were stunning and the guide/tracker knew exactly what we wanted and they delivered.

We are repeat guests to this lovely, small tented camp with bathrooms ensuite. Great food. Nice bar service. Relaxed atmosphere. Cute little swimming pool and the social area has a perfect view of the water hole - so much game passes there. All staff are friendly and helpful. Really lovely camp to relax in and superb game drives. We highly recommend Shindzela Tented camp in the Timbavati Reserve.

Shindzela is an awsome and very comfortable 8 tented camp with bathrooms en suite. Casual and homely vibe. The food is always pleasant and plentiful. We had 2 warm days out of 3 - cold front and rain were passing over then. Always pack warm clothes just in case! All staff members are friendly and helpful. A very relaxed atmosphere in the lounge and boma area and around the pool. Great view on to the drinking spot for the game. Lots of time to relax and also get to know the other guests. Really enjoy staying at Shindzela.

Shindzela is a more affordable bush camp in the Timbavati Game Reserve. Great value for money, their concession has a lot of wildlife.

The camp is not so big, they go out with 2 vehicles. Which were never full during our stay.

Dinner next to the fire, nothing to complain here food was good.

You go to Shindzela when your main focus is doing game drives.
There is also a pool.
