A perfect camping experience for those who love plumbing! This was our first safari, and it certainly did not disappoint. The tents are well appointed, with sinks, showers, a toilet... and a delicious electric blanket waiting for you after sitting in a cold jeep looking at animals. the service and staff are amazing - helpful, good food, all served up with a sense of humor and infectious warmth. A special shout-out to our FANTASTIC guide Michael - he was the best! He went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything we wanted to and then some, including 2 rare cheetah brothers posing like movie stars. Michael treats both humans and animals with the utmost respect and a good dose of humor, and ensured our safety as well as providing unbelievable viewing. He made the trip extra special for us, and made sure this first trip won't be our last. A great place you'll never forget!

We stayed for two nights only at Khoka Moya, after having stayed at their ranger camp in Entambeni reserve. Both Honeyguide ranger camp in Entambeni (Waterberg) and Khoka Moya in Manyeleti (Kruger Park) are absolutely awesome. Management and staff go out of their way to assist with any issues. The game drives and guides were very informative and thoroughly enjoyable, with great sightings. The current covid rates offered at Honeyguide ranger camps offer unbeatable value for money in terms of the complete package. I shall be back again.

What an amazing experience!!! The staff at Mantobeni Camp made our stay so special and Michael was an amazing guide!! We stayed for 5 nights which in hindsight may have been too long but we enjoyed it nonetheless. There is a lot of downtime in between game drives and as the weather was so hot, we were not able to stay in our tents, perhaps have a nap in between drives, because the tents get so hot. So we just lounged by the pool where elephants came to drink on a daily basis. There is also no wifi in the tents but to be honest, the time we did spend in the tents (to sleep mainly) we were not interested in being on our devices and just slept in preparation for the next morning’s game drive.
We slept so comfortably in the tents - I was very pleasantly surprised as I normally have trouble sleeping in new places. The bed was huge, the pillows were amazing, the bedding clean and smelled fresh and the mosquito net was set up every night by the staff so when we returned to the tent after dinner everything was all set up.
We managed to see all of the big 5 during our stay and other equally amazing and fascinating animals. All thanks to our guide Michael who is so knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. He really did make our experience that much better. I appreciate their way of operating during safari. They do not overcrowd the animals and the different lodges respect each other and take turns to allow their guests to view the animals. So everyone gets equal time. They have a real respect for the place and the animals which I love.
The food was also really good. My only “complaint” (if you can call it that) was that the lighting during dinner is so dim that I could hardly see what I was eating. I understand why they do this. It is a natural environment and having bright lights disturbs the environment - and the elephants who still come to drink from the pool even at night. So it’s really such a minor thing that it’s barely worth mentioning but I have in the spirit of honestly.
I will definitely be coming back! This was our first proper safari experience and man was it epic!

Game guides are all world class. Their knowledge of the reserve adds incredible value to every visitor’s stay. All other members of the team are welcoming and responsive. Food is delicious. Tents are spacious and include requisite amenities. Setting is iconic Africa. At the current price point, Honeyguide offers guests real value for money and memories that will last a lifetime.

Our recent 6 night visit at Mantobeni in late June was our 3rd stay at this camp and once again, we had a wonderful time. There is not too much more detail I can add to what is covered in my previous reviews of this property.
Everything I detailed in my glowing review last year still rings true, from the standard of accommodation, to the food, to the incredible staff and to the reserve itself, which lends itself to some wonderful game viewing.
A special mention this year must go to Brilliant, our guide and friend whose ability to spot game in the bush while looking after his guests, suitably lives up to his chosen name. To Mavis, a lovely, kind lady who fed and watered us attentively at every meal time including arranging a special surprise private dinner at out tent one evening. To Ranny, the bartender extraordinaire and highly attentive man who can pour a mean G&T. I could go on and on about the staff at this property, all of whom are an absolute asset to Honeyguide.
I do hope Honeyguide revisit their current policy not to staff trackers at the lodge, as I feel having both does elevate the overall guest experience.
We had some 'quieter' drives to begin with but overall across 12 drives total, the game viewing was exceptional once again, with the stand outs being 3 separate sightings of lions, hyenas and a female leopard with their kills, plus a rare sighting of a particularly relaxed black rhino bull out in the open plains.
I have a particular affection for the current dominant Mbiri male lion so it was a particular thrill for me when we eventually managed to locate him and his brothers then spend time with him over our last few drives.
If you would like a lengthy, ringing endorsement then please feel free to read my review from the our stay in June 2022. If not, then the best endorsement I can give anyone contemplating booking a stay at Mantobeni would be that we have already booked up for another 6 nights in June 2024 - enough said.

We stayed at Honeyguide Mantobeni for 2 nights in May 2022. We travelled from Kruger through the Orpen gate. The entrance to Manyeleti is very easy to find and very close to Orpen. The road to the lodge is a bit hairy. We didn't have a 4x4 and it was a challenge. On arrival, check in was easy and efficient. The camp is nicely decorated, open and spacious. There is a swimming pool where elephants often come to drink. The rooms are tented, very comfortable and spacious which a nice deck area. The room facilities were very good. Food at the lodge was very good and plentiful. Its a reasonable sized camp and everyone eats together which is very sociable. The game drives are fixed times and there isnt much flexibility to extend your drives, but you cant expect too much for the price. The wildlife at Manyeleti is fantastic and we were very lucky with our sightings. The camp needs to invest in the jeeps though as we had 3 flat tyres in 2 days which isn't really acceptable as it eats into your drive time. It was clearly a frustration to our guide as well. Overall, for the price we paid for 2 nights, we found the camp to be excellent value, and at that price we would definitely stay again (although I think they may have put their prices up since!).

I think that what we come to a lodge of this type for is to get closer to the animals that we could only see at the zoo as children. Here, we here accompanied by the very capable guide Devance (the twin of John Coffey of the Green Mile), have really seen them all: from the Big Five to every type of antelope and ebivore (which Devance defined as "food"...) up to snakes and chameleons. We saw them still and in action, hunting and feeding. However, what I want to point out is something else. I don't know if the HoneyGuide is the exception or the rule but here you really experience the bush. Various animals wander freely in the camp, but in the evening (when the cats go hunting) the guide accompanies you to the tent and from there you don't leave until the morning, if you want to avoid unpleasant encounters. The elephants actually come to drink in the pool and in the evening the hyenas keep you company at dinner. Despite this, there are no weapons in the camp: "They're not needed" Devance tells me. A balance achieved with nature. By the way, the whole camp is plastic-free and upon arrival you will be given a water bottle that you can fill with drinking water. Excellent and plentiful food for three meals (according to many, above the average for tented camps). Staff always available, kind and competent.

We stayed at Mantobeni so we will review this camp which in our opinion is much more beautiful than Khoka Moya... which although in the same area does not enjoy the position and care that you get at Mantobeni. Let's start with the swimming pool from which you can directly see the elephants come to drink... top!! The Camp is tented but of a higher standard, the tents are very well looked after and very clean, they even give you a thermal blanket because at night the temperatures can drop quite a bit. We ate very well and the staff is super super nice, they even organized a little party for my partner's birthday (cake included). Sightings... nothing to say, you will see lots of animals and we were lucky enough to have a very close encounter (really worth it) with a lion and his harem of lionesses... unforgettable experience... truly remarkable... all very very beautiful

Perhaps we should tell the truth about this lodge. Castatrophic management which reduces costs as much as possible depending on the stay of customers.
Positive: - The quality of meals -The location as well as the type of accommodation allow total immersion in the bush. -The tents are comfortable. -Our guide Mickael was adorable and professional despite having to wear several hats (security agent to take us back to the rooms, tracker drivers) in short, minimizing costs.
The negative points: - You are obliged to eat at the table at strict times and with your whole group with whom you are in game drive = forget the romantic side of lovers. - Crowded game drive we have always been 10 in the car maximum capacity in other lodges they limit it to 8 or 6 and there is also a tracker to accompany the driver which makes it easier to find the animals. - you are required to choose the evening meal and game drive aperitif drink at noon (we think a lot about the daily organization when we work on vacation, it's not planning what I want to drink at 6 p.m. when it's 1 p.m....) - We had to leave at 8:30 a.m. to catch the plane, they didn't serve us breakfast... Nor offered a short activity like a bush walk to compensate for the fact that we couldn't do the morning safari because we left 30 minutes before the end of the game drive or even being dropped off at reception and enjoying the game drive, a paid and included activity not done...
To conclude a big tourist industry move on and prefer to stay in other lodges where the service will be more personalized and which will adapt to you and not the other way around.

We stayed 1 night at Khoka Moya camp and 3 nights at Mantobeni. We would gladly return to either camp in the future, we were very well taken care of and very comfortable at both camps. We enjoyed the lively family atmosphere at Khoka Moya and didn't find the children to be overly loud. We did note that people without children were not put at dinner tables or in safari vehicles with families that had children. Both camps had very good and plentiful food but we preferred the buffet style service at Khoka Moya. For people who find kids annoying, go to Mantobeni, it is very quiet with only adults present. We had wonderful wildlife sightings in camp both places. An elephant walked right by our front porch at Khoka Moya. At Mantobeni we saw impala, monkeys, elephants, warthogs, wildebeest and a beautiful nyala buck from the front porch of our tent! Tents at both camps were very comfortable and provided everything we needed. The heated mattress pads on the beds were an especially nice touch. It's not luxury but are you there for the accomadations or the wildlife? Our guide Anthony was outstanding! We loved the system in place of only 3 vehicles at a time at animal sightings and rotating out after a certain amount of time to give others a chance. You may not have always had exactly the view you wanted but you didnt have to deal with 10 other vehicles fighting for position either. Staff at both camps were excellent, especially Jan at Khoka Moya who seemed to know everyones name withing minutes of their arrival. Overall these 2 camps provided an outstanding experience.
