Detailed Reviews
What a fantastic location. Its quite a long drive in on dirt roads, but well worth it.
The lodge itself is excellent, with lovely airconditioned rooms (ours featured a brilliant open air shower) and a comfortable communal area. Its a small lodge with just 8 cabins so there are just 2 land cruisers going out and no sense of crowds. We even woke up on a couple of mornings with rhinos grazing 50m from our cabin!
But of course its really about the wildlife and our guide and spotter ensured that we saw everything going. Too much to list everything but (at different times) the leopards and pack of wild dogs strolling past just acouple of metres from our open cruiser were memorable - as was the rhino that decided to take a nap in the middle of the track.

We stayed five nights at the outstanding and charming Nkorho Bush Lodge. The staff were always extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating to our needs. We really enjoyed the "call to meals" drumming! The meals were fabulous. A wonderful variety of dishes. I had ostrich for one dinner meal--unexpectedly delicious! The room where we had dinner took my breath away the first night, it was so beautiful. The room was dark, with a fire pit in the middle surrounded by a semi circle table set for all of us with candles at every place setting. Our cabana at the Lodge was very comfortable with large rooms. We loved both the indoor and outdoor showers, and the swinging chairs on our porch. We had a beautiful view of the watering hole and the grounds. It was a perfect place to relax between the two daily safaris. I have already recommended Eagle Eye Safaris and the Nkorho Bush Lodge to many of our friends and would love to go on another safari and stay at the lodge. Karen Blackwood, Eagle Eye Safaris, and Callum were excellent guides with an incredible amount of knowledge about the animals that they fortunately enjoyed sharing with us! Chris, our tracker, had an amazing eye for spotting the animals. With only two land cruisers seating eight people (including our guides) for each safari, we were able to get up close to the animals, see everything and not feel crowded. A truly memorable experience!

We have just enjoyed with my family a perfect boutique safari getaway after lockdown. The lodge is beautiful, the staff super attentive and the sabi sand bush gives you the perfect game drive environment. Is a plus that the lodge is not very big, so you get a personalized experience. Pieter our guide was a genius searching for animals (we spotted all the Big 5 after 3 games drives) and explaining us passionately the animal world. For leopards fan, definitely this is leopard land ! Louis also was great helping us during our stay and patiently answering ALL our kids questions. Pier the chef cooked for us delicious meals and overall all the staff was very kind and gently. The family room was perfectly equipped and nice. The peaceful view from the lodge deck is something we will always remember. Definitely we recommend the place and we will come back !

We stayed in Nkoho Bush Lodge at the beginning of march. To get there the lodge will send you an e-mail with very accurate directions so coming here was pretty easy (there are directions from different places). Roads are dirt road so not the easiest but we were driving a small Hyundai and we were able to drive them without any trouble.
There are 8 lodges in this place and when we arrived lodges were full so we were split in two safari cars. Room is very nice and bathroom had outside showers which was a dream!
Check-in and out was very easy and the girls at the front desk were really helpful and attending.
The food during the day was a buffet so you could choose what to eat, the cook at night made some amazing recipes and one day we had kudu which was pretty good. In the game drives you have also some food in the morning/evening and some drinks.
Our ranger was Pieter which was really nice, the first day we managed to see 2 leopards and 3 lions! Sabi Sands has so many big cats it was amazing to see them!
Will totally recommend a stay in Nkorho Bush Lodge.

Back again for our third trip to Nkorho
Welcomed upon arrival by Deon our guide and Freeman our tracker and the reception lady with a welcome drink and happy smiles all over
We were then taken to our stunning room with a massive bed, double shower for two inside or even and outdoor shower to feel even closer to nature
Our meals every single day for the 3 nights we stayed there were absolutely over standards, my favorite having been the outside boma dinners (sitting around a fire at night and just seeing all the amazing stars above you).
Early 5:30am wake up calls definitely are well worth it, the safari drives with Deon and Freeman were just absolutely next level
Freeman showing his tracking skills to find Xidulu and her cub in the thicket and getting off the vehicle to start tracking them through the thick bush and Deon driving around looking around for any other signs to locate them.
My dream was to always see a leopard cub one day in the wild, thank you Deon and Freeman for making this such an incredible memory for me, they managed to find Xidulu and cub with a duiker kill in the tree top
We had an unbelievable sighting of lions from the Talamati breakaways with a Buffalo kill and hyena surrounding our vehicle waiting for there turn to grab a piece of any leftovers (my all time favorite sighting)
Lodge staff from house keeping to waiters to guides and the GM (Anja) thank you all so so much for this incredible time once again with you all
You are all like family now and we cannot wait to see you all again for our fourth trip to Nkorho Bush Lodge
I highly recommend anyone that has never been on a safari or has been to definitely make a booking now for this incredible Lodge, you will definitely not be disappointed at all
Very well worth the money and the standard of classic is way above

I stayed here for 5 nights and it was an amazing experience. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful . Our safari guide, Matt, was great. Even with other vehicles around, he as able to position the jeep in such a way to ensure the best possible photos.
The rooms are very comfortable, however, the may not work for everyone. The bathroom is open to the room with no doors and the shower is competely open with no curtain or door. If you don't mind showering with your roomate/partner seeing all, then you won't have any issue. I was alone, so it was fine. If, however, had been traveling with a friend, it would have been awkward.
The bar is great with very interesting cocktail options. The food is just mediocre. The staff needs a lot more training on safe food handling (I am a trained chef) and allergen contamination avoidance. Even with that, some of the dishes were just inedible. I would not expect Michelin quality dining, but there is a lot of room for improvement in this area.
All in all, I would happily return to Nkorho lodge. It was an incredible experience.

I’m blown away with this lodge! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the whole staff who delivered nothing but exceptional hospitality. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was so beautiful inside and out. We really felt like we were one with Africa. The food menu changed every day and night and was incredibly delicious. We felt like royalty. As for the game reserve we were lead by Matt (Guide) who was so knowledgeable and amazing! He was spot on about every single animal that resides at the reserve but let’s not forget our (tracker) Sydney who spotted animals where others couldn’t. I’m convinced this man has super power eye sight. Because of these two gentlemen both my boyfriend and I were able to see the big 5, magnificent 7 and the all of the ugly 5 except 1. Because of them we saw it all. This two gentlemen along with the magnificent staff made our stay so memorable that we’ve already passed it on to our family and friends and have made it a point to visit again. Their kindness and expertise shall always remain in our hearts and memories. We highly recommend. We promise you won’t regret it!

The lodge doesn't have a lot of rooms, and because of that we got to know most of the staff personally there and had lovely chat with them. I really love the dining area & swimming pool that overlook the open area, where impala, wildebeests and warthogs are wondering around. Our ranger Derek is fantastic. He has great passion and love for wildlife and never hesitates sharing all his knowledge with us. The absolute highlight of our stay is that we encountered a big pack of African wild dogs and they decided to take a rest outside of our lodge for 20 min!

We stayed at Nkorno for 3 nights over Christmas. The accommodation was very good - spacious rooms with terrace for sitting. Because the lodge is small, it feels like you are staying as house guests. This suited us very well. The main parts of the lodge (bar, pool area etc) have just been refurbished to high standard. The food was good - the staff catered to our challenging dietary requirements (kosher, multiple allergies) very well.
The best parts of our stay were of course the safaris. We were fortunate to see a wide variety of animals including the Big Five. Our guide Derek was excellent - well informed, a good communicator and a very nice guy.

We were extremely disappointed by this lodge. One pro is that it’s in the sabi sands which is amazing for spotting wildlife, but the accommodations, food, staff hospitality and responsiveness left a lot to be desired. While the property overlooks a watering hole, several chalets in the front are on the main walkway, and are constantly being walked on by entire lodge, whether other guests or staff. The rooms are completely facing the property with two large sliding glass doors and minimal privacy. We were told there were no locks on the doors because “it’s safe.”
In our chalet, there were bats living in the thatch roof leaving a significant amount of bat droppings throughout the day all over our bathroom and shower. When asked to address the issue or switch rooms we were told all the chalets have this problem and there was nothing they could do. In my mind this is a health hazard and needs to be addressed. Which brings me to my next point - despite it being winter when mosquitos are more sparse, our rooms were teeming with mosquitos and there are no nets in the whole property. We woke up with bites on our faces and a baby in the lodge woke up with bites covering her face. We were told to spray doom and basically fumigate our room ourselves and just stand outside for a bit and turn the fan on. I get that you’re in the bush but this definitely wasn’t a problem at any of the other lodges we stayed at. It is also not something that I would expect at a “premium lodge.” I would definitely avoid this lodge if you react poorly to mosquito bites.
The safari drives themselves had good sightings being in the sabi sands but like the rest of the lodge the guides left much to be desired. There was an arrogance to their explanations, at one point saying they did not find the bird sightings intersting and would rather discuss plants. Our guide had a fancy camera with him on the drive and it was the first thing out when at a sighting. It seemed the guests were merely coming along on his drive, and the vehicle was often positioned so he had the best view and pictures. On one day in which “the bush was quiet,” instead of trying to track and find animals, he favored ending the drive an hour early. Even driving back to the lodge we were barreling down extremely bumpy roads just to get back to the lodge with no concern for the guests’ experience. Having been on other drives at other lodges we were not impressed with the conduct on the drives at nkorho.
Overall the most disappointing was the staff attitude. Although a minor detail, we were never addressed by name and there was no recognition we were on our honeymoon despite them asking on the intake forms. When we came to them with concerns about our stay we were essentially brushed off. Imagine the feeling that you are simply “tolerated” and you would have a sense of how we felt during our stay.

We offer 2 game drives daily and an optional bush walk which is normally after breakfast. Should you require any further information please contact me.
Each vehicle can hold up to 10 guests, but that is rare. We typically had 6 and one day . The Lodge has 7 chalets, each is separated. Contact the Lodge for how many people they camp will accommodate. While we were there a guide brought his group of photographers. They had there on vehicle, so not to hold up other guests. He was really good. The Lodge can put you in touch with him, he does these tours once a month.
The Ranger may have photographic experience, but the main purpose is to educate and give time for photographs.
This was the second year for us at this Lodge.
Hi there. All the game drives are included in the price. The lodge can organise a transfer from Hoedesprit but will cost extra. They are always very helpful, so always worth e mailing the lodge. Have a lovely holiday x
Hi there. Yes there is excellent wi fi all round the lodge and even in your room. X
