My Ma and I love this place - it's our go to place in Mesilla for a lovely healthy lunch. It takes you back in time with the most photographed gate in the world ! This place is quaint and one feels so relaxed here and the food is outstanding - all made from scratch! Stop at Josefinas when you're...

We were lucky enough to have booked a room here for one night and probably should have stayed a second, but our travel schedule was set already. We had a lovely room with a fire place and plenty of room. The tv and chair/lounge was separated by distance from the very comfy bed and made for some quiet and privacy....

We are in town for a couple of months & enjoy finding hidden gems in the local community. Looking forward to visiting again & having lunch here. I brought my own creamer being I'm lactose intolerant. We had breakfast.

Visited this local cafe for a lunch, have been there before with friends. The patio has a relaxing, quaint, and quiet atmosphere- service was a little slow and they weren't very busy but- they made up for it with a friendly attentive staff, tasty food, and complimentary chips & salsa. Located just off Mesilla Plaza- go shopping then stop in!...

We love the restaurant. Beautiful patio. Great place to eat and drink. The food we had was good and priced fair. The atmosphere is good. Actually could hear each other talk. The service was good. We will return. We did not stay there since we live 5 miles from it. Rick and Lolo

I've stayed at Josefina's twice and I love it! The owners are friendly and really know the valley so they can help point out local places to visit. It is charming, quiet and unique to anything in the city.

We wish we had longer to stay in this exquisite, restful building! Early check-in at noon is very convenient, as is the private parking. We were extremely pleased with the large King suite - the chaise lounge was a lovely extra & the bathroom was very large. The private outdoor sitting area was so relaxing and we enjoyed the refrigerator...

We loved staying in this beautiful historic adobe building. The accomodations were comfortable and authentic. The owners were welcoming, helpful and kind. I would stay here again when visiting my hometown of Las Cruces as I felt I had stepped back in time to my childhood. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such beautiful surroundings.

Even though I live in Las Cruces, I'd never even heard of Josefina's Gate before a couple of years ago. I've been there twice for lunch with friends. It's such a pretty, well-kept adobe place, right off the plaza in Mesilla -- and the food is fresh and well-presented -- and tasty! Service was great -- and they never rushed...

Thank you for your lovely review. We are a breakfast and lunch cafe. 7 AM- 4 PM seven days a week. We only do one night a year and that is the first Friday in October. We have a jazz festival on the plaza and we open for that event.

I was so excited when I found this and really looking forward to the possibility of staying here! The Queen suite looks fabulous, very New Mexican and perfect for a 27th wedding anniversary get away! BUT ... I called and sent a message through the website contact system and didn't hear anything back! I realize it was very last minute...

Please accept our apologies for the confusion. We always respond to our e-mail and we have looked for an "Amy Wlfey" all we have found is someone by the name of Holly asking for information regarding a 27th anniversary booking. We responded to the email and let this person know that we were booked. My husband may have given some...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This quaint adobe house known simply as “Josefina’s” has long been a symbol of warmth and welcome on the Historic Old Mesilla Plaza. Josefina’s is aptly named for the dynamic and outgoing woman who lived here for nearly 35 years and established the Luminaria Tradition of Mesilla. Dating back to the early 1900’s this home has served as a place to gather, socialize, and celebrate. This tradition lives on as “Josefina’s” opens its gates to the community and visitors of Mesilla.Once the site of holiday open houses and afternoon get-togethers, we now invite all to relax, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy the plaza in an intimate and comfortable setting. Whether you are gathering for a tea party on our patio, a luncheon in our café, celebrating a special anniversary in our Historic Inn, or shopping for that “must have” at Old Gate Antique’s, you are sure to find the warmth of Southern New Mexico charm. ... more   less

“The Master suite is spacious and has access to a private and lush courtyard.”

“There are only two rooms, I picked the queen because the descriptions made the scale seem more intimate (biggest is not always best). The whole time we were there we never saw, as we called them the "Kings", so we cannot say for sure that ours was the best, but we were very happy with our selection. One or two complaints, since I am always good for a few; the beautiful hatched ceiling was cut up with a HVAC grill above the bed, as an architect I would have walked over 7 alligators before I would have allowed that to happen, and the sitting room has the couch under the TV--okay stage shot --who really lives or functions that way?”

“There are only two rooms. I chose the King suite because it had a window to the front and I like natural light.”
