I called on Saturday, December 6th to book a room for that day for a single-night stay. After some negotiation, was quoted a $99 rate. When I checked in that evening, I was told the quoted rate would not be honored and the room would be $119. The desk clerk said that I could discuss the situation in the morning... More

This place is cool! Has an authentic taste of Western Memorabilia, & Native America. I recommend the JOHN WAYNE Suite, or the EXECUTIVE Suite. The BRIDAL Suite's pretty big with a living room, kitchen & terrace. There are many other named suites from classic icons such as CLARK GABLE, LUCILLE BALL to HUMPHREY BOGART. Folks, their autographed pictures on the... More

Spent 1 night at the El Rancho Hotel while touring the Route 66. Friendly check in staff. Room was comfortable with good wifi signal. Lots of pictures adorn the walls of all the movie stars that have stayed at the El Rancho.

The best part of this place is the lobby. The rooms are pretty run down and in need of renovation. Linens also seemed worn and time for replacement. I stayed here based on the suggestion from Sunset Magazine and was disappointed. Easily missable.

My husband and I stayed here as part of our route 66 trip and we were lucky to have the 'Kirk Douglas' room (which would highly impress my nan). Anyway this room is more of an apartment as it has a kitchenette and dining area. If I'm honest the room does need a little refresh but that was part of... More

This hotel may have been a must-see when Route 66 was the hot item, but the charm is wearing thin. The staff was not very helpful and seemed to have difficulty just checking us in. Our room was clean and comfortable. Even though trains run through town frequently we got a good night's sleep. We ate dinner in the restaurant... More

This hotel has been a landmark on Route 66 since the '30s. When the old western movies were being shot nearby, the El Rancho was the only hotel around. Many movie greats stayed in this hotel. Take time to sit in the lobby...it is full of treasures. Above the door of each room is the name of a movie star... More

The hotel is historic and the decoration is interesting. Hardly you would find their furniture elsewhere. Each room has the name of an artist like, Doris Day, Lucille Ball, John Hudson etc. The carpets need some renovation, but is a finding in the region. The restaurant has many options, some of them regional.

When we arrived here yesterday after a long road trip and feeling kind of exhausted we were not sure if this was really the right place for us when checking in. It felt a little bit like tourist trap in the arrival hall. But maybe due to the fact that we just came out of wonderful nature and seen the... More

My wife and I have just returned from riding a Harley the length of old Route 66 (insofar as it exists/was possible) and we stayed 1 night here. What a unique place. Such a pleasant change from the 'plastic' Holiday Inns, Crowne Plaza, Hiltons, et al. Real character, even if certain bits did not work as they might - a... More
