Great character hotel. Full of western (movie) character. Well worth a visit be it to the bar or restaurant if only to take some pics. Rooms are named after movie stars that stayed there but that's where the star quality ends. Rooms are very basic...More
We stopped here to eat and see the place where the stars from yesteryear stayed. The ambiance wad really neat, a lot of really cool memorabilia. Then we sat to eat and the food was all below average. I would recommend to stop to just...More
It's clean and well run. We had a good sized room and a dinky bathroom. It was reasonably quiet, especially for a hotel on Route 66. The bed ws excellent and we slept great. It is a very historic hotel, so don't expect any modern...More
Staying at this historic hotel was an enjoyable & memorable experience. I sat quietly in the lobby for an hour with my Jack Daniels and just dwelled in the atmosphere of a bygone era. Fantastic.

It is delicious and the place is serene. This hotel looks lovely but didn't stay here but will the next time I am in the area.

I traveled Route 66 back in September and stayed at El Rancho hotel. A lot of US hotels do not seem to have email address for which to contact them so we phoned them using Skype. The calls cost around around 6 cents / minute. Skype uses wifi as the connection medium - which I found was at all the hotels in the US that I stayed at and I could phone ahead/pre book a room.
Skype is far cheaper than roaming with your cell phone as I regularly made calls home to New Zealand.
Enjoy your travels and the charm of El Rancho hotel.
FYI the room we stayed in was Spencer Tracey's
