We have stayed at Punakha Residency for 1 night. Hotel rooms were small. There was no heater in the room. We could hear dogs barking all night and couldn't sleep. Food was okay. Hotel staff were polite.
Property is not appealing, congested and rooms are too small. If we get a couple of baggage, the rooms looks fully occupied. We visited in October, and it was not that cold. Atleast there should be a provision for AC and a refrigerator. The room had no view, and worst part was there was a construction activity happening in the plot adjacent to the hotel, so couldn't even open the windows. Anyways opening windows would have made me see only the under construction property. Most of the staff are women, and the hotel has no lifts. So I had to drag my luggage to my room. So that was also an off. Positives: Staff is just too courteous, and very accomodative when it comes to providing good breakfast.
The location of the hotel is 5 km from the Punakha Dzong. Food was quite tasty. They receive visa credit cards which are very rarer in Bhutan. Don't have elevators or lift. Its difficult to climb to 3rd or the 4th floor. They also arranged aroom heater. The washroom fixters need some repairwok.
This hotel has maintain the standards equally for solo travellers. Not every hotel has this facility in Bhutan. Most of the staff where females, they made me feel comfortable and also provided me complimentary beverages
The hotel has 3 floors and has no lifts - I think this point alone keeps you away from this hotel. However the staffs are good who can help on getting your luggage to the room. Once you enter the room, most of the rooms are too small and does not offer positive energy as well. Looks like dungeon. I had a baby with me, and accidentally he threw his toy under the bed, which made me to look below and made my experieny even worse, with the dust. Bathrooms were also very congested for us. Food was ok ok, manageable.
Our stay in this hotel was very pleasant. The receptist was very kind and polite. We got the booking on walk in and the rates was quite accommodative. The breakfast was good though not complimentary in our tariff. Overall we had a good time.
Good hotel, stayed a night. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Punakha is a small town and this is in the center of the town. Restaurants are nearby. Riverside is walk-able distance. A small bridge on the river has a beautiful view.
We had one night stay on 6-Jun-19 . Location of hotel is quite good . Neat and Clean hotel . AC is available in Dining and reception area. Staffs are good , Polite . Room service is good. This hotel is not having lift . Staircase is bit high. Food quality is OK . Hotel accepts credit card . This is of great advantage. Wifi signal in hotel room is strong. Rooms are not so specious but quite ok to adjust . Bath room was clean . Supportive staff and overall we had good and pleasant stay in Kurthang town in Paro during our Bhutan trip.
They ask money without giving prior info for the contents in mini fridge. They will charge you for the thing you have not taken also. I would not recommend it at all. This is also not a 3 star hotel..
The hotel is located near a river. The construction is nice. Though the stairs are a bit steep and tricky for someone with ankle or knee pain or for an older person. The restaurant offers a beautiful view but food could be a lot better. The rooms are spacious but could be cleaner. Staff is good, but takes time to respond to request. We faced issue with electricity in the room and had to contact staff multiple times. But in all a fine hotel, with scope of improvements.
