This was okay for one night, it was clean and air conditioned but it is in need of refurbishment. We paid $20 for the bigger rooms at the front. That was a big mistake as the Voice of Vietnam is blasted out from nearby speakers at 5am! Friendly staff but little English spoken and no breakfast.

We went to Rach Gia and stayed for 1 night before we travelled to Phu Quoc. The hotel was good consider what we paid for it, but the location was not really nice. There was lack if restaurants, and the people there was not to friendly comparing to other places in Vietnam.
At the hotel the staff was very friendly, and the rooms very nice,

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend, before taking an early ferry to Phu Quoc. It was a good price and great value for what you got. The hotel is located on a junction right by the bridge, and c15mins walk to the port, but there is a taxi rank right outside the hotel, which is convenient. We had a triple room, which was really large, clean, and had everything you needed. The reception staff didn't speak much English, so weren't able to help us much with booking the ferry, but seemed friendly enough.

I went to Vietnam with two friends that lived in Rach Gia years ago they came back to visit and asked me if I want to go,I'm American they are Vietnamese. I've known them 12 years at there nail salon that I have been going to. Ok now for the review of the Palace Hotel I stayed in this Hotel for 28 nights cost was under $25.00 per night I paid upfront (didn't need to) to get the cost out of the way,the hotel front desk is run by the Family that owns it. The room was larger then a American hotel room the showers always had plenty of hot water,TV was clear, air conditioner worked excellent, when running on low at night you couldn't hear it,that was great for sleeping. This Hotel also had laundry service out and back with in one day. The palace hotel elevator worked never a problem it was good size. The front desk put my motor cycle away every night also this hotel is very close to the pier or dock that goes to Phu Quoc island for fish sauce and site seeing you can walk to the pier/ dock no need to call a cab but if you do it will cost under $2.00 US The restaurant had good food too when needed. The room was clean every day, I had a month worth of luggage and camera,iPad,iPod jewelry, colon and other valuables NEVER HAD A ISSUE, I ate with my friends every day every night. In Vietnam people eat 4-5 times a day, There is a large two story super market two blocks away with everything you need, beer food, liquor and health and beauty supplies. There is a lot of street food and my most favorite was a place called mot mui chin it served a dish with eggs and pancakes with outstanding syrup go out the front door and walk 1 1/2 blocks east it opens at 4pm and closes when they sell out about 9pm this place mot mui chin sells out every night the locals eat there and foodies in the know. Enjoy your stay, thanks for reading. Vietnam is excellent value and the BEST SEAFOOD, CHICKEN AND Vegetables anywhere. Thanks again.

Firstly - the Palace Hotel is the same as the Palace 2 Hotel. I'm not sure why it's listed differently on different sites.
Rooms are lovely, very clean, modern. Staff are nice.
It's not really that near to the ferry to Phu Quoc - in a straight line it would only be about 4 minutes... But there's a river in the way so it's around 15-20min walk. There is a big supermarket just a couple of blocks from the hotel (straight across from entrance towards the river, then first right).
Restaurants in the immediate area don't speak English and don't have English menus. I quite like this but it can be difficult - I asked for rice and they brought back pineapple! I have no idea why as the two words are about as different in Vietnamese as they are in English!
It's a good choice hotel but eating out nearby is interesting.

Current November 2012 rates are VND 650,000 but a 10% discount is available if you are a large group and can negotiate in Vietnamese. Rooms are tiled and clean with daily laundry service. Drinking water is chargeable. The first floor restaurant is now a conference room but snacks and coffee can be had at the ground floor cafe and outside on the pavement. The menu is mostly Vietnamese but "eggs and sausage" with a baguette are available. Ask for the English menu. For other nearby eating there is the large Hoa Bien restaurant down the road jutting over the sea: and 999 on a nearby corner with beef, noodles and speciality duck eggs.

A bridge across the river to the southern town extension will be finished by end 2013 and the Hotel will then have an even more strategic location. In the meantime try climbing the nearby lighthouse or talking yourself onto the fishing boats moored on the river. Sunsets from here can be spectacular.

We stayed at the Palace Hotel the night before we took the boat to Phu Quoc. It is close to the water and only about 5 minutes by taxi to the boat dock. Although it is on a quiet street in a newly developed area, it is only a block away from a busy thoroughfare with lots of stores. The hotel is new and fresh. Our room was clean and well equipped. We ate dinner in their outdoor restaurant. It was popular with the locals both for dinner in the evening and breakfast in the morning - and for good reason. The food and service were excellent. It was a delight to be able to walk along the waterfront in the evening without dodging the usual crazy vietnamese traffic. This hotel is great value for the money.

We stayed here for 2 nights before catching the ferry to Phu Quoc and had a lovely surprise. This is a gem of a hotel- one of the best we have stayed at in Vietnam. It's brand new, very clean, with beautiful fittings. The reception staff were very helpful and could speak good English. Location is great too - quiet area but only 5 mins walk to town & ferry. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.
