This was now our fourth time to the pebble beached sleepy town of Tulamben. As per usual we travel with two growing boys (now 6 & 4) and this time around we dragged their Auntie all for the ride. Our previous 3 trips we stayed at Scuba Seraya and we highly recommend that resort, but we thought we would try something new and stay in town and close to the wreck. After lots of review trawling I ended up at Ocean View Tulamben or OVT from now on. There are tons of good reviews for Liberty Dive Resort and I'm sure it's great BUT they are up the road from the "beach" immediately behind OVT and personally I like staying where I can actually see the sea. Yes the view is restricted from the resort restaurant but at least there is a direct view and you are literally on the rocks. We stayed in the more budget rooms at the top end of the resort in front of the top pool. The rooms are HUGE and clean. And even have a bath all for a bargain price of USD52 per night!! The AC worked great and the staff are helpful. The bungalows down below are really pretty and If I were travelling sans kids I would definitely go for the. BUT when you need 2 rooms the extra cost was a tad much. The bottom pool and restaurant area are really pretty. And we ended up spending much of our time down here. The younger one loved the shallow plunge pool at the bottom. Food at the restaurant was on the whole not bad, some meals definitely better than others. With two very busy kids with dietary restrictions we really do not bother exploring for food! We get the kitchen staff accustomed to what we need and then just stick to it. To their credit the kitchen staff we very accommodating! The only real issue was that they had an extremely limited booze selection!! My wife loves a cocktail to celebrate the sunset but they basically had nothing!! They did have cold Bintang's so I was fine! One of the main reasons for staying in Tulamben was so that I could take my eldest out snorkeling to the wreck. And man did he love it!! He is so comfortable in the water, a true fish! The wreck is a 50m walk down the rocky beach and then about 100m swim out. On to the diving. Firstly the dive team at OVT are extremely easy going and at your service, we dived when we wanted, how we wanted. We had our own guide and often two of them! They were good spotters, but possibly a tad enthusiastic with the critters and I needed to dial him down a little. You travel out to the dive sites by truck and then either kit up on the rocks and stumble in or they will bring your gear into the water and you can kit up in the shallows...still stumbling around! So this brings me back to my initial question "To back roll or to stumble?". I can honestly say that next time I will likely head back to Scuba Seraya! The hassle of stumbling over those rocks and in the shallows gets old quick!! At Seraya you cruise up to the dive spot and just back roll from the boat! Much more civilized! All in all we had a good time here and would happily recommend it.…
Bottom Line: The place was just ok. You can probably do better in Tulamben. Left feeling I will not stay there again. The good: large room, big windows, comfortable bed, cold air conditioning, nice pool The bad: Cleanliness. Bathroom was filthy, but they were quick to clean it once it was pointed out. The buildings and grounds needed maintenance (questionable electrical wiring, bricks falling off buildings, rusty sharp steel next to pool). TV was always on in the restaurant. The staff was hanging out all over the property looking at their phones.
This was our 4th stay at Oceanview, and again it was absolutely great. Over the past 4 trips Oceanview has become better and better. The staff are very pleasant, helpful and will bend over backwards to provide you with the best time and service. The rooms are spacious clean and quite well maintained, food is very good and tasty with nice sized portions. The dive center is well established and very professional. Will be back in 2020
We took a group of 20 divers to Ocean View this past week and we had an absolutely fantastic experience with them. The staff are super friendly and helpful, nothing you ask for is too much and everything is delivered on time and with a smile. Sitha was unbelievable in assisting us with everything from lost luggage to where to go for dinner. The dive guides were fantastic catering to our every whim. I will not hesitate to go back to Ocean View, we had an unbelievable time there.
Spent 7 days at Ocean view dive resort. We had the bungalow accommodation and it was great! The room and bathroom are HUGE! Our room was close to the pool and the eating area, but not tooo close to hear everything. The pool is devine and enough chairs to laze the day away. We had a few meals at the resort and we certainly enjoyed every meal! The staff are polite and professional! This is a great resort and we would recommend it!
Nice hotel. We stayed there 4 nights as part of a dive tour throughout Bali. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and the view of the sunrise was spectacular. I liked how the reception team would make recommendations on what to do on our non-dive days and help arrange transportation. Overall, good experience., would stay there again.
We have had fantastic 5 days of diving here (again). The resort is right at the (pebble!) beach. Staff is very friendly, dive guides are helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms are stylish and tasteful (with fridge), room service is very reliable. Infinity pools and gardens are just fantastic. Restaurant is OK.
This is my so many visit in this property. have always find the house keeping staffs to be very nice and quick to resolve issue. the restaurant service still needs to improve i.e they are not trained to serve many guests. reservation officer whom we normally talked to does not really understand how to treat returning customer. I urge myself to write the review about this hotel (and hopefully this would be my last review of OCV). This time we are staying in room #205. Just one funny thing about the room, the main light switch is located outside the room! So that's it for me. Inside lighting also seems darker than usual, maybe they try to lower the wattage instead of replacing the bulb with LEDs. Will try other growing resort next time.
Stayed in for 3 nights to complete our advance diving course and I would recommend this place for your diving experience. Rooms are clean and spacious, about 5 - 10 min walking to main street for dinner, breakfast is decent in terms of taste and portion. Staffs are quite friendly as well. I think the best part for divers is the entry point directly in front of Liberty Wreck and if you are considering what kind of dive to take up, I will recommend dawn and night dives. Dawn dive will be the best because the ocean direction there is facing the sunrise and you will really love the moment when you ascent from underwater, scenery is just to beautiful to describe
Stayed here during a dive trip in Bali. Perfect location, right off USAT Liberty wreck. Just walk right down to shore and swim 30 meters and you're there. Great set-up with rinse tanks for cameras, shower, hoses to rinse gear, etc. Hotel room is nice, clean, modern. Bright lights, great air conditioning, clean. Decent table/desk area to lay out camera gear. Could be a bit better if they located some outlets in better spaces for recharging batteries, but I was able to unplug lamps and make everything work--overhead lighting was super so lamps weren't necessary. Plenty of closet space and drawers for a week long stay (or longer). Two very nice infinity pools, massage offered poolside each evening. Restaurant onsite is fine, no need to leave. If I were coming back to this area, I'd definitely select Ocean View Dive Resort.…
