We had rooms 5 & 6 above the office, which were well appointed, large and spacious, with modern bathroom and shower. The king size bed was very comfy with a firm mattress with soft layer on top which made the bed great to sleep on. The place is immaculately maintained by the managing couple who really go out their way...

Quite possibly the best stay of my life. 5 star luxury in a "make yourself at home" style with a self serve bar. The grounds, views, and rooms are beautiful and breakfast was to die for. My favourite was the local smoked trout with scrambled eggs but the breakfast spread was extensive with ricotta tart, pastries, amazing fruit salad and...

This place is a real gem: a luxurious, comfortable, well-managed spot with stunning views of vineyards and the valley. If you're looking for luxury and peace in wine country, it's hard to think of a better spot than this. Great breakfast, comfortable chairs by the pool, a ten-minute walk from the great restaurants in Franschoek, and friendly hosts Ellen and...

Lovely, well managed place, just behind the Huguenot memorial at one end of the main street, so easy to walk into town during the day. Only 7 units of accommodation so this small luxury guest house is run on a very personal basis with the efficient managers (Gary and Ellen) getting to know all the guests straight away. Breakfast was...

What a wonderful place. Outstanding in every aspect. When you enter through the big gates, you just know you have picked the right place for your vacation. Unfortunately Ellen had to leave on urgent business, but Gary was a wonderful host. Easy going guy, and nothing was too much trouble. Gorgeous surroundings, and obviously has a great crew to help...

On arriving at the guest house on the edge of Franschhoek we loved the tree lined drive, immaculate gardens and pristeen buildings. We stayed in the Gentlemans room on the first floor of one of the buildings making up the complex. The room was very spacious with plenty of storage, large comfortable bed and excellent bathroom with large walk in...

After six nights it was hard for us to leave this beautiful place. It was perfect from the beginning on. We had the Balcony Room which is a spacious and beautiful furnished room. The surrounding is beautifull and pitoresque and 'La Provicence' a perfect place to relax. Special Thanks to Ellen and Gary who are always very supportive and warm-hearted....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated behind the historical Huguenot Monument and Museum, and within 5 minute walking distance from the town center. Laying beneath the impressive Middagkrans Mountains, and a short drive up the Franschhoek pass to one of the most surreal views of the town and valley, is La Providence Farm/Guesthouse! Set amongst a picturesque garden of roses and other indigenous plant, a hectare of vineyards and a Cypress avenue, as you enter the farm. The farm consists of 7 guestrooms, with a very modern and sophisticated interior. The old farm house buildings gives you a sense of time gone by. Each room has its own Nescafe coffee machine, a mini fridge where one can sit on your terrace and enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon as the sunsets!! There is an entertainment area for our guests, a short walk from the rooms where one can enjoy a swim in our 12m pool, or laze about on a sunbed and admire the view of the mountains or vineyard. There is a bar with a wooden deck leading out to the pool, or in the evening sit in boma around a fire and enjoy the Milk way with a glass of 'Lewenslust' our local house wine. ... more   less
