As repeat guests (and we are made to feel so much more than that at Akademie Street) it always feels like coming home. My wife and I have stayed here many times over the years and always find something new and interesting on each visit. However, the main "attraction" is the welcome and hospitality. We were welcomed back by everyone...

The hotel is in a nice quite street a short walk from the main shopping area. we stayed in Oortuiging cottage..inside are photos of the house from when it was one of just three houses that made up Franschoek in 1900(and surrounded by sandbags during its use as a recruiting centre for British troops in Boer war!).Beautifully decorated rooms, spacious lounge...

When I go to a hotel with this kind of reviews, I often get disappointed. But not here. All positive comments made on this site are true. We stayed 3 nights in Gelatenheid. It is more a private villa than a room. It is bigger, and also nicer than most 5* suites I have stayed in. It even included a...

We just returned to Akademie after first having visited in 2005. This time we stayed in Oortuiging - a two bedroom (two bathroom) original Cape Dutch house (with large kitchen and separate living room, a secluded garden area (with plunge pool)). This was perfect for us, as we returned with an addition, our 14 month old. He had his room,...

We have been coming to Akademie Street regularly for the past 10+ years and it is always top notch. This visit was particularly special, as I have been overseas for the last 2.5 years. We were welcomed back with open arms by everyone, including the kitchen staff. It was like coming home to a spectacularly beautiful place. Akademie Street is...

We stayed at Akademie Street for the first 3 nights of our 17 night holiday in South Africa. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome, our room (Uitsig) was terrific with a lovely view of the mountains, the breakfasts were outstanding as was the level of...

We stayed at Akademie Street Guesthouse as part of a recent short visit to South Africa. We had not been to Franschhoek before and we were unsure of where to stay but were attracted to this property by the location and the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. It is really very hard to find fault with this guesthouse. From the welcome...

My husband and I spent two relaxing and quiet nights here during our honeymoon. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious. The location was perfect, especially if you do not have a car, as you were able to walk right into the center of town. We were highly recommend this boutique to everyone.

What a special place! The service started before we arrived with information on restaurants and places to see so we were able to book prior to arriving and ensured we got a table - especially at The Tasting Room which we wouldn't have done so without booking ahead. Such charming rooms and the breakfast was amazing. Katherine and Arthur are...
