Had a great stay with our 2 kids ,we initially booked 2 rooms but upon arrival we were upgraded to 2 villa suites ,we loved many things about our rooms ,the heated bathroom floor ,the fireplace ,the turn down service with hot water bottles at night ,the AC which can be both cold and also hot to warm up the room ,the location of the hotel was central .
Breakfast was a spread & hot dishes can be ordered a la carte ,the hotel grounds are beautiful and the service from everyone was great .
We also tried room service from Monneaux restaurant which was very good .
There are 2 swimming pools one of them heated and a spa which unfortunately we did not try .
Highly recommended to explore the wine lands.
Thank you everyone for a great stay

We were very fortunate in the hotels that Deborah our travel agent picked for us to make up our most amazing holiday. This was one of the most memorable. Set in beautiful surroundings on the edge of Franschhoek it offers a peaceful and relaxing ambience. The rooms were beautiful and spotlessly clean. Ours was huge with a great balcony and a large seating area. Next to our room was an impressive lounge area with complimentary sherry. The grounds were stunning and the pool area amazing. Fantastic sunbeds in a lovely grassy area with two pools - one heated and one cool. The service at the pool, as it was everywhere, was incredible. Towels, iced water and sunbeds were complimentary and a full bar and snack service was available all charmingly served at your sunbeds. Breakfast offered everything you could possibly want and we sat on the small balcony overlooking the grounds which was delightful. At all times the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed for two nights but would have happily stayed longer.

Overall: The initial welcome was one of the best I've had. Very attentive, very informative and very wecolming. The hotel amenities met our needs in every way and the breakfast was delicious

Service: Cannot fault it in any way. Friendly, informative and always on hand to help, whether that be keeping the room immaculate, the service at breakfast, the service around the pool (really really good) or the driver of the free shuttle into Franschoek. All spot on!

Room: We had a standard room and yet it was more than adequate. Dual aspect with a balcony ensured it was massively light, the bed was comfy, the air con was really good and the ensuite very smart with lovely lavendar scented products. One small item to note was the balcony was on the main road side so there was some noise, but that is for all hotels on the road.

Location: It was really convenient for getting into Franschoek. 15 to 20 minutes to walk in along the path or a few minutes in the free shuttle service. Also the supermarket and wine tram ride stop was 5 minutes away

Amenities: 2 x pools (1 normal and 1 heated), more than enough parking, a free shuttle service into Franschoek, a restaurant, free wine in the afternoon, bikes,...

Price: Not cheap, but all very relative given nothing is cheap in this area. I would say it was well worth the money and I will definitely go back if I am in Franschoek again

From reading the other reviews, I wonder if we have all been at the same place or if we were just unlucky...

One thing I must start with is that the staff are possibly the best thing about this hotel. We really found the place run down and in need of a bit of care. We spent a fortune on a villa room for a handful of nights and realised that all the balconies looked on to each other. So no sense of privacy whatsoever. If you want to feel like you’re living in an apartment block then go for it. You constantly have to keep all the blinds and curtains shut if you don’t want an audience when getting dressed. The room was definitely not cleaned to “Covid” standards as there were hand marks on the tv, the remote was dirty, the glass on internal doors had hand marks too and things just looked like they needed a good clean. The sound system didn’t work and honestly, the room really did not warrant the price we had paid.
The hotel was quiet but then picked up on the Saturday and seemed as if they staff couldn’t cope. We lay by the pool and no service whatsoever. The pools are quite small and should there be two couples in the pool, there is no room for social distancing and no place to really swim. At the pool, bottles of water are laid out for people to help themselves but that was it. Sunday morning breakfast was busy and disorganised. Guests not wearing masks at the buffet when asked to do so. Flies flying all over the buffet spread which was quite unpleasant, and also glasses and plates were constantly running low.
We ordered drinks to our room which also took some time and they left some items off. We also got charged for ordering small bottles of water, when they come complimentary with the room.
For what it’s worth, I really do not think this is worth 5 stars. It’s a pretty average establishment that needs a good renovation and offer a bit more to its guests in terms of privacy and tranquility. The villas all look on to each other and really not worth the money unfortunately.

We came here last year and enjoyed it so much that we came back for more. The room we had previously was not available so we got one that was marginally smaller (still huge) and had a balcony overlooking the swimming pool. Lovely buildings throughout and gardens too. We also liked the complimentary drinks between 2PM and 5PM every afternoon.

You can walk into the centre of town from here or you can take the shuttle if you're not up to it. The walk to the Wine Tram is even shorter and gets you a trip around some of the local vineyards.

The staff were all excellent and the meals too. A great stay.

Situated on the edge of this pleasant little wine town, Franschhoek Country House and Villas provides first class accommodation and facilities. We had a large suite with every comfort and service. Very Private. It was incredibly spacious and very comfortable. The staff naturally have high standards, are very well trained, welcoming and helpful. Two outside pools in pleasant gardens provide a nice area to relax although most rooms appear to have their own terrace/balcony with comfortable loungers.
This was formerly a perfumery over 100 years ago and it comprises of different buildings which makes it more interesting than a normal country house. The much acclaimed restaurant is very good though lacks ambience compared to (in my opinion) the more delightful breakfast room.
Food is excellent and sort of Michelin Star ish. However, a choice of more simpler dishes may add to the appeal. We had lunch out one day so ordered room service late on. The choice was limited and I would have expected more in this standard of hotel.
There is a free shuttle to the ever popular wine tram stop in town so you don’t need your car if you want to eat out even in the evening. It’s to order anytime so very useful.
There’s is no Spa but a treatment room so you need too book. I had the two hour “men’s relax” and it was outstandingly good and professional.
All in all a great place to relax and our only regret was booking for just two nights.
Highly recommended and woul return

We had a lovely stay for a family of four. The villa worked well, with the seperate lounge area which was converted into a seperate sleeping area / couch for the kids. The bathroom was nice and spacious with a small vineyard just outside window and gave a lovely ambiance when having a relaxing bath. The main bedroom was nicely decorated, just disappointed that our bedroom had two single beds, instead of a queen of king bed. The room was a nice size for the four of us, with a small outside patio overlooking the courtyard.

We had dinner at the restaurant onsite, Monneaux Restaurant. The food was was a very well presented and absolutely delicious, very calm and romantic atmosphere.

Our visit being post Covid-lockdown, under Level 1, was still enjoyable - we were stil able to enjoy most of the facilities such as the pool (warm and cold), there were bikes available for riding into town as well. Breakfast was also well presented, with a spread of options over the weekends, week days (Covid) still had the breakfast menu.

All in all, we had a lovely stay and the staff were always friendly and efficient wherever they could help.

In the little Town of Franschhoek, pretty much everything appears to be beautiful, but some things are just more beautiful than others. The Franschhoek Country House & VillasHotel is one like that. My sister received a night's stay in a suite as one of her 60th birthday gifts and she asked me to join her. The suite was absolutely terrific with the trimmings and décor just opulent enough to make you feel like you were in a French palace. The whole atmosphere, gardens, buildings, furniture, just took you to another country. The breakfast buffet was varied and well presented and the hot serving of my Eggs Benedict was tasty and "hit the spot". Attentive waitrons and the service on the whole of the Staff members, no matter which position, was one of absolute delight. Charles in the restaurant and Breakfast Room, Receptionist Abigail and Manager Ben, they all made our short stay worthwhile and dreaming to return for a longer stay.

This is a charming classic-ly appointed resort offer high end evening dining and family style buffet/eggs to order breakfast. They partner with local tours and activities offering full, half day, and at-your-own pace assortment, including rental bikes. Most activities center around the wine tasting. The train tour combining the greatest array. As for me I liked the Paarl tour which has wine, beer (CBC) and chocolate tastings wrapping it with a decent restaurant on premises.
The staff of the guesthouse were extremely helpful, kind, gracious, with an honest smile on their and heartfelt greeting. The rooms are large and handsomely appointed, not missing a trick and adding a few you might not expect. Like a double level suitcase shelf across from the closet with the bottom being pullout. The guesthouse manager was always within arms reach morning noon and night making any special requests, curiosities, or complements easy to offer. If you are interested in a quant, charming, full service hotel nestled in the most beautiful wine valley in the world this is the place.

The hotel on 1st impressions is very beautiful set in lovely grounds with stunning views. The rooms an 'old style' which is great if thats your thing? Not ours unfortunately.
The we come to the real point that has given the review title, the water in the rooms were in 33cl bottles i used 8 a day as did my wife. Where are the glass refillable bottles; guys we are in the 21st century now. All the bathroom toiletries were also all single use. A lot more could be done to solve this that are an easy fix.
The staff were really pleasant and the shuttle service is brilliant, although we felt very safe.

Hi, I think it would be best to speak to the venue as we only spent one night there, independent of a wedding. It is a gorgeous setting for a wedding. All the best for your special day!

Hi, yes they do. The staff are lovely - incredibly accomodating. There is also a little railway in town which will take you to many of the vineyards. The hotel is situated within walking distance of Franschhoek and of some of the vineyards.

Dear Brian B Thank you for your enquiry. Our standard rooms are either twin bedded (ie two single beds next to each other which, if joined will be king size) Alternatively you can book a double standard room and their size is queen. Pleas let me know if there are any more questions as we look forward to welcoming you! I will also check with reservations to avoid any misunderstanding.

What is the dress code, please ?
Answer from SnrMngmnt
South Africa
Dear John, thank you for your enquiry. There is no specific dress code, we do however suggest no shorts and open shoes in the restaurant at dinner time. Otherwise the hotel is relaxed, and being out in the countryside we want our guests to simply enjoy the comfortable surroundings. We have a young vibrant team and if guests are on holiday it's important to us they can just unwind and enjoy the facilities. Hopefully we can welcome you one of these days!
