Complained about noisy beds, attitude from owner, refused to give us another room although all empty, locked us in when we tried to leave. Demanded we pay half tariff for using shower and toilet. We called police, 1 hour argument in driveway to open gate. Claimed room needed to be cleaned and bed even though we had only sat on...

Surprised to read these negative reviews. Our hostess was shy but warmed up and gave us a lot of local information. We were allowed into the rooms a little earlier than check-in time, breakfast was lovely and the rooms were spacious. Yes, I did miss having complimentary water and tea/coffee facilities and there are a number of rules. They have...

This place is truly something from a slasher movie. Arrived before the official check-in and also had to wait before officially being welcome. From the odd madame and her starched uniform to the sour-smelling sheets, this place reeks of the strange. There were a couple of suits hanging in the cupboard, like I was going to be invited to some...

Please, don't be fooled by their website! It is a beautiful old house, beautiful gardens! But that is it! Rooms are nothing special! Linen is way passed their time. Mattresses not up to standard. No coffee facilities in the rooms, NOT even down stairs. No water in the rooms. We stayed in the most expensive room and our toilet was...

There were only rules - starting already at the gate, in the hall, in the room and even in the bathroom. They were all no smoking, no take-aways, no own food and beverages, all doors strictly private etc.The house with 3 guest rooms is a museum with old things in an old smell and everywhere chiming clocks!. Our first night...

Before the booking I read the comments on Tripadvisor and although there were some negative ones we decided to stay there (and we would do it again). After arriving we had a friendly welcome and were led to our room without any information about house rules. The furnishing of the house may seem a little bit strange but it fits...

I was welcomed and treated with respect and dignity that is rare in our day. I loved the food, the atmosphere and i felt like I was at home. It was quite a lovely experience for my first time in Barberton!!

We arrived half an hour early (By motorcycle) and were turned away because we were too early! The fact that we arrived by motorcycle prompted the "lady of the manor" to have a negative and judgmental attitude toward us. Little does she know we are professionals on a (fun?) trip! The house rules are endless! Don't do this-don't do that!...

The lady is so unwelcoming, if you step out of they room they take the pleasure to sneak in. The whole place has a very foul smell. You cannot even drink your bottle of water. I had to take my take away food to the gate and eat on the road. Some terrible night.

An overnight stay on our way to the Kruger which turned out to be a memorable and lovely experience, though we didn't have time to explore the large garden. The decoration and furniture takes us back to the XIXth century while ensuring XXIst century comfort. On that stormy day, the lady of the manor made miracles to provide the best...
