This hotel does not meet the standard of a DoubleTree at all, and not even a Hampton Inn. The 6th floor (the executive floor) smells awful, making it fell like a budget motel. The breakfast is overpriced and taste worst than typical Hampton Inn food,: the orange juice tastes like water, and the apple juice tastes like potato. Worst of all, the floor of the breakfast area is sticky like a university cafeteria. This hotel makes me never want to go back to a DoubleTree anymore.
The Doubletree Princeton remains one of my many staples and solid “go to” properties because they exemplify the standards that Hilton full service hotels require in an ever changing post pandemic era. The demands for competent professional engaging staff, the need to maintain Hilton Clean Stay protocols and the efforts to ‘police a new genre of transient guests who “believe” legalization of recreational products by the state of New Jersey now includes hotel accommodations… as they continue to struggle successfully to keep accommodations for not just the repeat Diamond guests ,like myself, but in fact ALL guests at every tier so that no individual feels “slighted” or diminished—-is simply, exceptional! Kudos, to the longterm management sentinels like Sharma and Nicole, but also middle management representatives like Brittany, Abigail, and the fresh new face Carina who has adopted a poise and presence that is encouraging and refreshing! I travel a great deal both business and leisure and was so incredibly “warmed” by the presence of a scent fragrance to “remove the carbon of smoke or smoke related products to that of yes, “baby powder”…that I had to remark to my family…”what magic and miracle is this? The room was immaculate, the scent was warm and inviting and the staff per usual via the Kipsu (digital concierge) at the top of their game! I was there to celebrate a VIP friends birthday but felt “Doubletree Princeton” celebrated me as well! Wonderful, brief respite and many thanks!…
Very clean and well run older hotel with excellent amenities such as pool and fitness center. Room design is a bit dated, but it was nice to see an actual rug and wood desk instead of the antiseptic designs currently favored. Housekeeping excellent. Breakfast just OK - limited options and no fresh fruit - but great staff can get you whatever extras from the kitchen. Comfortable bedding and excellent room HVAC. A solid, comfortable stay.
There was a group staying at this location that trashed the lobby, tortured the staff, and made other guest feel very uncomfortable. Be aware … the group comes every other weekend! Make sure you ask before making your reservation
The place is showing its age, from the hallways full of carpet to doors to bathrooms. Beds were comfortable and clean. Easy to check in. There is easy self parking. One staff I spoke with was very nice. I most likely will not stay here again, unless is remodeled in the future.
We stayed here for one night in June 2022. The positive: the staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful, the room was very clean and the beds were VERY comfortable. The negative: the hotel is in desperate need of renovations. Desperate. I’m giving away my age with this comment but I’m sure when the Partridge Family stayed there it looked exactly the same. We were charged $20 per person for a buffet breakfast, which was definitely not worth it - we should have gone to Starbucks or Panera. You live, you learn. We would stay there again for the staff, location and the beds.
I popped in for a quick overnight. The hotel pricing (double queen) on a Sunday night was very affordable. The hotel itself is a bit older, but recent upgrades keep amenities modern. You can tell from the carpet in the hallways and wear spots on doors, yet the bathrooms in the rooms are much newer. The rooms and beds were comfortable. The hotel is away/offset from any major roads, so the stay was quiet from any outside disturbances. The breakfast fare (as identified in other reviews) is average for $17/person: the "hot" food in the buffet was warm; the fruit was fresh crisp; the breads and muffins were fresh. All of this was packaged in the standard DoubleTree charm, including helpful staff and the signature cookies.
The Hotel was clean and the pool was nice I would recommend this place to anyone that was visiting the area we were there for a special event located at the college of New Jersey it was very easy to travel there for two days the staff was very friendly and check in was fast and easy
Black mold in the bathtub. No streaming on the tv. No usb outlets. Employees all seem pissed off. I thought the breakfast was free since it’s just a cold buffet. Instead my wife and ended up paying $36 for 2 bowls of cold cereal with some berries, an orange juice, a piece of toast and coffee. We watched as 20 other people came in talked to the hostess, glanced around and immediately left. The only other people in the place were another couple who were talking to the hostess about the ridiculous price of $17 each. That’s when I realized there was a bill on the wall next to me for $36. When I complained verbally to the front desk they shrugged their shoulders and told me they’d tell management. Later they texted me and asked how things were. I responded with the above info and all they did was reply, “sorry for the inconvenience.” Go to one of the Marriotts where they actually care about their customers.…
Overall decent place to stay. My only issue is the fire alarm going off at 6 am for 30 minutes before being shut off and there was no fire. This was not address upon checkout and there wasn’t an offer to either extend my checkout or refund some of the money I paid considering my sleep was interrupted and it was daylight savings that weekend.
