We just returned from the Ale House Inn after spending our birthday celebration in Portsmouth. We had stayed at the Inn years ago before the present owners so lovingly and beautifully upgraded it. What a wonderful surprise to see the transformation. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Our host Scott went out of his way to make our stay...

We stayed at the Ale House Inn for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It is a fab boutique hotel with lots of character, modern and minimal but also very welcoming and cosy. The location is perfect; really close to everything Portsmouth has to offer but not noisy. Our host Doug was incredibly friendly and helpful and his...

My (now) husband and I stayed here over our wedding weekend and loved it so much! We had our friends and family book the other rooms and it was so nice to be able to hang out in the front room next to the fire and under the fantastic vaulted ceilings. The Inn provided nice little touches, like a local...

We stayed just one evening at the Ale House on our way to Bar Harbor and are already discussing when we will go back. Modern boutique, perfect attention to detail, immaculate and great location. Scott, the manager, was very available to answer questions about history, dining, biking, etc. Had an amazing dinner at Cava. Portsmouth has the historic but not...

As innkeepers we rarely get away during the summer season and we desperately needed a night off, so we escaped to the Ale House Inn. We made the perfect choice. The Ale House Inn has a wonderful location, close to everything. The building is historic and the Inn has been thoughtfully designed around this. The rooms are artistically appointed, lovely...

The Inn is well located in Portsmouth so that you can walk anywhere. They have pre-loaded IPads to use and the decor is quite upscale, modern and very comfortable. The room is very small but well designed so that it is cozy not cramped. The complimentary beer upon arrival and snacks and water in the fridge were much appreciated. I...

I'm so glad I found the Ale House Inn and booked it for our 1st Anniversary weekend away. It's a small boutique hotel, only about 10 guest rooms but they are so clean and up to date - each room has it's own Ipad to use! The Inn Keepers are very friendly and full of information.

We booked two nights after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. We parked our car and walked everywhere - shopping, restaurants, Strawberry Bank. The hosts, Doug and Scott were most helpful in guiding us - to a local and wonderful breakfast spot, to fine dining and live music. It was incredibly quiet at the inn. We would...

My now wife and I were married at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel in New Castle, NH and we booked all ten rooms at the Ale House Inn to accommodate our wedding party. It was one of the best decisions we made. The rooms are immaculate and the staff (particularly Scott and Doug) are amazing. We found a couple...
