It means it is old! If you want a modern cookie cutter hotel, this is not it. If quirky and a bit frayed at the edges bothers you, this is not for you. If exposed piping bothers you... But if you want something more, well,...More

The worn carpeting in the hallways is evidence of just how much people enjoy the Eagle Mountain House. If you saw that in a Hilton property, you'd be hard-pressed to give more than a half-star, but here? It adds to the distinction.
The burglar-proof floors...More

What a great surprise! What a great historic hotel. The old fashion rooms add a quaintness that you can't find in your box cutter chain hotel. From the elevator, switchboard, to the old veranda. He was also great for the kids, we got a two...More

Great central location for a lot of the White Mountain hikes. Hotel staff is nice and helpful. Rooms are clean and up to date. The only issue we had with our room was our extremely uncomfortable bed. We didn't sleep too well. If you get...More

I like Eagle Mt and would recommend it too. been there many times. We have Its a historic hotel and that is the charm. Lots of wood, wide hallways, radiators, an elevator with iron bar doors; a wooden bannister. Yes, the hotel restaurant has no atmosphere. Instead, try the Wildcat Tavern Inn in downtown Jackson. Very cool pub/restaurant with live music in the bar - they also have non bar sitting which is nice as well. There is another place as well to check out - the Shovel Handel Pub - that a bit outside of town, but deeper in the interior of the mountain/town. October would be a great time to visit - make a reservation and ask to be closer to on the upper floors, closer to the lobby side of the hotel. Otherwise, you'll have a long walk to less nice rooms.
