Our overnight stay this March was a picture perfect New England minivacation. We skiied two days at nearby cross country area, Windblown, and returned to the Hancock Inn for our overnight rest. Our room, the John Hancock suite, featured a huge jacuzzi tub for post ski soaking, gorgeously historic handpainted walls, as well as its own sitting room with a...

While the 16" of late winter snow was a lot to deal with as it fell, the payoff has been awesome ~ spring skiing, both downhill and cross country, under bright blue sky plus snowshoeing and the maple sap starting to run! Glad you were here to share this special time in New Hampshire's quiet corner with us and hope...

My family and our son and his wife stayed at Hancock Inn . My husband and I had been there before, but did not stay over night. This time we did, and it was just as we had hoped it would be. The food was excellent, the owners were very friendly. We loved to sit on the rockers on the...

Someone once said about riding a horse, "There is nothing so good for the inside of a person as the outside of a horse." Maybe, but sitting on a front porch rocker would surely come close. When it includes watching time pass in a small New England village, it gets even better. Thank you for staying with us and for...

Stayed here on a Saturday night and loved it. Despite the age of the inn everything is very well kept, clean and updated. Stayed in the bell fox room which was cozy and the jetted tub was great. Complimentary breakfast was delicious and felt like a home cooked meal. The staff is extremely friendly and the dog added a wonderful...

Thank you, "cozy and friendly" is just the environment we hope you'll find here. As first time innkeepers, we only know how to make this inn the place where we'd like to stay. As a result, we're told, it feels like an extension of our home. Our guests seem to agree that it strikes the right cord for this historic...

We stayed here one night on our cross country bicycle ride. It was our "reward stay" after having ridden almost all the way across the US. What a beautiful, charming place to stay. The owners and staff were overwhelmingly gracious and welcoming and didn't bat an eye that we were cyclists and everyone was dressed in slacks, preppy outfits and...

It was our reward to have you stop and stay with us during your amazing ride across the country. Thank you. We have to spend a lot of our time living vicariously through our guests. It really helps to have a couple of people swing through every now and then that are bike riding across the continent! Fly back and...

Without a doubt one of the favorite hotels I would highly recommend. The room was very well maintained and clean. The restaurant practices "farm to table" concept and truly enjoyed fresh foods and excellent wine! The owner couple was so friendly and so were all staff!

We love being added to your favorites list! Thank you for making note of our farm to table efforts. Seems only natural in this part of the world, but it takes special dedication and creativity and our chef Rob Grant has been spectacular at making it a reality. Hope you'll come back to see what's being served when spring has...

Stayed here just one night with a last-minute mid-winter reservation. I was in town with a friend to see a show at the Petersborough Players Theatre Company, and although the show was lovely, I could not have predicted that the real star of the night would be the Hancock Inn. Host Jarvis was marvelous, and dinner at the bar of...

Wow, high praise indeed. We are big supporters of the Peterborough Players and glad to be their neighbor and partner. We hope that a trip to the Monadnock Region, that includes both the theatre and the inn, feels like you've discovered some hidden gems in the quiet corner of New Hampshire. This is the first year with shows during the...

This is my first review of anything, but I felt inclined to sign up to give credit to the Inn Keepers. They were perfect in every way! Welcoming, friendly, informative, patient, accommodating. I wanted to take them home with me, but I guess I'll just have to go back to see them, instead. My girlfriend and I spent Valentine's Day...

We stayed at the inn for only one night but it was one of the most delightful experiences and wished we had more time. No doubt we will be back again. The inn keepers display such passion for their inn and it is reflected in every detail. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner in their quaint dinning room as well. Cannot...

My wife and I visited looking for a romantic and quiet getaway. The Hancock Inn was perfect! The Inn is fabulous. We had a large room over looking a quintessential New England Red barn, and a toasty gas fireplace to take the chill off. The owners are friendly and gracious. Also knowledgable about what is happening in the area. We had a delicious cocktail in the bar before going into the dining room. The dinner was outstanding,...

Thank you so much for the very nice review. When we arrived over five years ago that red barn was in trouble, We're grateful that our neighbors, Main Street Cheese, rescued it and that they hired a craftsman for the job that specialized in saving old New England barns. When the structural work was done, everyone enjoyed watching this person...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hancock Inn is a historic property in Hancock, New Hampshire. Built in 1789, it is New Hampshire's oldest continuously operating inn. The inn has 14 rooms for overnight accommodations that are exceptionally well-appointed with period antiques and inclusive of modern amenities, such as in-room chargers, waffle-weave spa robes, flat screen televisions with built-in DVD and wifi throughout the building. Many rooms have gas or electric fireplaces. There are numerous common areas around the inn for the enjoyment of our guests, upstairs and down. The two sitting rooms on the first floor, one with with a Rumford fireplace, are hallmarks of the inn's warmth and hospitality, separating it from the usual of being away, making it feel closer to home. Outside, the inn's 1.5 acres of gardens and field (which includes a professionally maintained croquet pitch in the summer) connect visitors to the Monandock region's preserved landscape and scenery. In the winter, join countless avid snowshoers and cross country skiers and, other times, experience the lakes, rivers and trails that crisscross our corner of the world. The inn's fine dining restaurant, The Fox Tavern, is open seven nights a week. The farm-to-table menu features New England favorites relying on locally raised beef, pork and poultry, plus cheese, fruits and vegetables from area growers, including vegetables from our own gardens. The Tavern's reknowned, cooked-to-order breakfast is served complimentary to house guests. Come to the Hancock Inn and learn why it has been characterized as "the near perfect expression of the New England village inn." ... more   less
