Excalibur Hotel & Casino offers a budget-friendly stay in a convenient location near the Strip, appealing to cost-conscious travelers. However, numerous guests have commented on the need for updates, pointing out the hotel's outdated atmosphere and rooms that often disappoint with their lack of cleanliness and modern amenities.
While some visitors praise the friendly staff, there's a mix of satisfaction with service quality. Noise from various sources has been a common complaint, suggesting the rooms could benefit from better soundproofing.

Detailed Reviews
For any solo traveler wanting to visit Las Vegas for a sporting event or a simple R&R at a budget without sacrificing the casino resort experience, Excalibur may be your best bet! It is only a short walk away from New York-New York as well as Luxor and Mandalay Bay, both in which can also be reachable by a complimentary tram service; it is also a short ride or drive away from Harry Reid International Airport as well!
I have booked a weekend stay at the Excalibur for the Las Vegas Aces game and found it a very convenient location for any Las Vegas sports fan if you want to attend the Aces game at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay (either a 15-minute walk or faster via tram) or even the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium or Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. You can also take a rideshare service (e.g. Uber) to any other casino or resort if you want to see any show that is along the Las Vegas Strip or even walk along the strip if time is not a concern.
For an early traveler checking in at Excalibur before 3pm, be prepared to pay extra for early check-in; I have checked in upon arrival at Excalibur around 7am but had to wait until right after 10am to get my room ready to be settled in. If you did not opt for early check-in and have to wait to get your room ready, you can have your bags and luggage held at the baggage desk while you wait or even explore Las Vegas until your room is ready; you can also tour around the resort and get to know the facilities, restaurants, and shops on-site as well as Excalibur has plenty of stores to choose and shop from and even restaurants to dine in!
Since I went solo for my Las Vegas trip, I have booked a king bedroom in the Royal Tower; the room is clean and very comfortable, as is with the bathroom, although the bathroom is a bit dated; the only downside is the lack of a mini-fridge, which would be useful if you bring outside drinks to the guest room and would like them chilled for a more refreshing drink later throughout your stay.
Overall, my weekend stay at the Excalibur has been great! I would definitely consider staying at Excalibur again the next time I visit Vegas in the near future!

From the outside the hotel is impressive, a medieval castle, is one of the most recognizable and emblematic buildings in Las Vegas. The location is perfect, at the beginning of the main avenue and near the airport. The hotel inside is huge and reminiscent of a mall rather than a hotel. Restaurants, shops and bars surround the main hall leaving the casino in the center. The reception area is similar to the airport counters but with more charm, you have to bear in mind that the hotel has 2000 rooms so they need to have multiple service desks. The staff is correct, friendly and quick during check-in, in my case, they attended to the preferences about the room you make prior to our arrival. The room is spacious, there were 3, with two large and separate beds, desk, tables and armchair with small table dress the space. The closet is small if you wear a lot of clothes, if there are three or four of you or you stay a long time. The bathroom is fine, with space for two people and easy access shower tray. As for the cleanliness it must be said that the hotel is not luxury, it is a good hotel so do not expect too much, in general the condition and cleanliness of the room are improveable but correct.
The best thing about the room were the city views, unbeatable, even the Sphere looked perfect, I leave you attached photos, floor 25, room 25235.
My opinion on this hotel is that it is what I expected and more, the atmosphere that is always in the hotel, with people partying or playing in the casino, the situation to visit the city, at the beginning of the Stip and the correct appearance and cleanliness of the whole hotel make me want to come back and recommend it for a public that does not seek luxury but a correct value for money.

Stayed here Feb. 14-18, 2024. I booked a room with two queen beds.
The good: the room was very clean, the bathroom was spacious with clean fluffy towels. Daily housekeeping was provided (a surprise since most hotels only provide this every couple of days any more). The staff was friendly. Plugs for electronics are on the wall by the bedstand, which is shared between two beds. We enjoyed the Tournament of Kings show and dinner. There were no discounts for kids though, and ours couldn't eat an entire chicken plus extras that is served on every plate.
The bad: the room did not have a coffee maker, a mini fridge or a microwave. I would consider these very basic expected amenities. A very small round ice bucket is provided, with the ice machine at the end of the long hallway. Before my stay I attempted to find out on their web site if the room even had a hair dryer so I wouldn't have to pack mine, but any mention of amenities is conveniently left out of the room description. Fortunately the room did have a small, kind of weak hair dryer. The bathroom shower had shampoo and body wash but no conditioner. The shampoo was not unlike dish detergent, so bring your own if you care about your hair. Our room fee for four nights averaged about $220/night.
The hotel charges a ridiculous "resort fee" of $37/night, plus a tax on that resort fee of $5. This is in addition to the regular room fee and taxes. The pool was closed, much to the dismay of the kids.
Additional helpful (I hope) info: I arrived early evening on a weekday, so I didn't have to wait too long in the check-in line. Over the next several days the lines to check in were much like a Disneyland ride line, snaking through the long maze. You can check in more efficiently via the mobile app, but I declined to use it because it asks for a lot of personal information that I didn't wish to load into an app. There are many eateries (expensive fast food) and several restaurants available. I was able to do a mobile check out by scanning a QR code that is provided, but it took four tries before it worked. Wifi in the rooms is slow in many spots, and it was only when I moved around to get three full wifi bars that the mobile check out worked. Once I accessed it, it worked fine.
Bottom line: next time we will look for a different facility that had at least the simplest of conveniences for that price.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here in September 2024, first arrived and was blown away by the place. I know it’s not one of the best hotels in Vegas but it is still tremendous. Little bit of a musty smell as you walk into the casino but you get used to it, checked into our room in the resort tower block 2nd floor and we had an air con unit outside our window which was quite noisy, we told reception and they moved us straight away with no questions asked, got moved to the 22nd floor which was spot on. Stayed in a room with 2 queen beds which was very clean and tidy, a little bit dated but for the amount of time we spent in the room it was perfect. Brilliant location on the strip too, a short walk out takes you through New York New York casino and down onto the main strip, be prepared to walk quite a bit, every looks close but believe me it’s not. We are already taking about going back cos we all had the best time ever.

Upon check-in there were stains on the bedding, paper in the heater, no hand soap, the shampoo/shower gel was low, and overall, the place was horrible.
Don't come if you absolutely don't have to. We called guest services and housekeeping around four time right when we arrived to fix some of the issues (like the stained bedding) and they never came.
We arrived around 11 and then went out for the day. When we came back around 6:00 pm it still had not been resolved and we were charged a $200 security deposit. Which was not indicated to me prior to booking and is wayyy too much for this place.
The ladies at the front desk placed us in another room that was equal in location but had been cleaned to a better standard. However, (and this is not on those ladies) I believe that we should have been upgraded or refunded.

I thought this would be a good experience and with my first review it doesn't make this any better The S.H.O.W experience MGM prides itself after was not showing at The Excalibur the last two weeks . I really hate I have to stay here and deal with the treatment from some staff stealing your belongings, miscommunication of entering a room without your permission and unprofessional staff members. no television for 2 weeks resort fees are taxed and higher than the rooms and probably the staff that hate their jobs. But I guess for over 600$ of your hard working money, you get what you pay for. Upon checkin the first day I had problems with the remote a property opps person came to my room 30 minutes late to fix a remote control and as I watched him enter my room unauthorized we passed each other in the hallway. later, I was told I have to put the do not disturb sign on the door after I complained about him entering the room. I never stayed at an Excalibur before and after the 1st I never will again. My ProBeats airpods charging case was missing I had to provide a statement of the theft with security and still won't be reimbursed the 107$. Which I never asked for a reimbursement but the treatment I recvd was horrible it was like "so what, big deal" from guest services and Yolanda the supervisor at the front desk. I paid for a replacement. Yolanda supervisor at the front desk said there was nothing she can do but wait for risk management. When someone request someone to the room security should accompany them. Just my opinion. Everyone can't be trusted, overall The Excalibur is an Ok place to stay if the staff was more courteous to the concerns of the guest I know some guest could be a little impatient but when it comes down to it right is right and wrong is wrong I did not expect to pay 800$ for a room with no television, and I felt uncomfortable by anyone else coming to my room. 2 of The waitresses in the slots area were pretty unprofessional as well I asked for water on two separate occasions and never got it after being on the slot machines for hours they walked right pass me as well, which also made me stop playing the slots all together. a security officer should have accompanied them to assist and the blame game would have been on me not property operations that came into my room unauthorized. People were getting on elevators taking elevator rides because they either didn't have a key or they wanted to wonder the halls. I'm going to look into being a personal shopper because these workers that are rude and untrustworthy need to be reprimanded. Honestly the professionalism is so poor there it really needs to be looked at by higher management. Security can do a better job as well with the vagrants and their elevator rides with no key cards. Just my opinion but apparently they don't care for my opinion. Even though I didn't want the room cleaned daily, housekeeping were courteous polite and professional And a question that I have that no one could answer is what happens when your DND sign is off the door or missing. It gives full opportunity for your privacy to be invaded. I hope this helps someone in choosing their stay wisely.

My wife and I visit Las Vegas fairly regularly and have stayed at most of the main hotels on the strip. We’re not particularly fussy about our hotels, as we don’t spend a lot of time in our room apart from sleeping.
I love the idea of a hotel themed as a medieval castle, complete with moat and drawbridge. Sadly, we didn’t love our experience just as much.
Let’s start with the positives… our room was conveniently located with easy access to the casino, lobby and parking garage. The housekeeping staff were always pleasant there were always security staff on duty around the entrances to the hotel towers. Getting complimentary parking at the other MGM properties was great, we used our room key to enter and exit as often as we wanted for a flat fee of $18 per day.
Having said that, Excalibur was easily the worst of all the hotels we’ve stayed at in the city. The rooms were tired and run down, easily a decade (or even two!) overdue for a refit. The shower had barely enough power to was soap suds off and the bathroom fan clattered constantly.
The dining options are poor, so much so that we didn’t eat anything from the hotel during our stay. That wasn’t a big problem though, as there are loads of better options within a very short distance. Surely Excalibur knows this too, so why aren’t they making more effort for their guests?
It isn’t called ‘the tip on the strip’ for nothing!

We recently stayed at Excalibur for a week and was thoroughly impressed overall. I’ve heard and read many poor reviews on this hotel prior to booking my stay but I tend to ignore them so I can experience it myself. Excalibur is within walking distance of many other MGM casinos and the Las Vegas strip making it a good location if you don’t plan on renting a vehicle. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and there is plenty of gaming and entertainment to keep you busy. The lounge that had karaoke and live music adds to the overall vibe while gaming. It was fun to see people dancing near the machines when they heard some great music being played. There’s plenty of different places to eat but there is no room service. I do believe that one of the bars inside Excalibur delivers to the room but they open around 5pm and close early in the evening.
The cleanliness of the room could be better, there were certain things that we did have to ask housekeeping to redo but it wasn’t that much of an inconvenience but it is still something that should have been done regardless. For being in the summer with temperatures reaching above 110F, I’m surprised the a/c in the room was able to keep it nearly cool. Most hotels a/c I’ve stayed at during the summer made it just bearable or was so poor that I had to change rooms. I’m used to having no a/c in my house living in CA with the temps inside the house being in the high 80s. For those who might like it really cold, take what I say about their a/c with a grain of salt. One of the things that did bother me was the fire suppression sprinklers and some of the fixtures being rusted to the point that they looked like they may fall down. Hopefully they replace some of them or upgrade before it becomes a hazard to an unfortunate guest.
Overall though, I am glad we chose to stay at Excalibur. It was affordable and my experience was positive compared to others who tried to persuade me.

Location is pretty good, quick connection to luxor or mandalay bay via monorail. Lots to do on site and nearby. Cleanliness could use some work though and rooms are dated (wouldn't be bad if there was less stains on old carpets/towels, but it could use some work) and wifi is pretty poor (you're probably better off just using data and hotspotting from your phone than trying to maintain a connection on wifi for more than a couple minutes).

Given you’re from Canada I’d say you’ll be fine with the Las Vegas weather in November. As others have said, temperatures vary a bit. Daytime is usually fairly mild so light clothing should be fine, but be prepared to layer up a bit for venturing out later on. Coming from the UK, I’ve never found the Las Vegas weather cold in November, but expect to wear a sweater or jacket.
