Located in the heart of the downtown “Fremont Street” district this iconic hotel is what you think (visually) when you say Las Vegas. Made up of several “towers” (Carson, Rush, and Gold). several restaurants, and a unique multilevel pool.

The hotel:
I originally booked a room in the Carson tower, the oldest tower and farthest away from everything in the hotel. While at check in I was offered an upgrade to the Rush tower (their newest) at a steep discount. I ended up with a room in the 23rd floor overlooking the pool of the Hotel across the way. Technically you do overlook Fremont Street but since it’s covered you don’t see anything. The room was very spacious with a king size bed, sectional couch and a 52” LCD TV. Once I checked in they offered to have my bags brought up to my room (at no charge though I did give a nice tip). Once I checked in they offered to have my bags brought up to my room (at no charge though I did give a nice tip). The bellman even filled my ice bucket for me.

The bathroom has a soaking tub/shower combo with the toilet in a separate closet. Dual sinks with a makeup mirror and the standard toiletries.

Room service is available for a fee but only during set hours. Express checkout is available from the menu on your TV. The rooms are all non-smoking and have quite powerful air conditioning.

The food:
There are several sit down restaurants including Claim Jumpers, Vic & Anthony’s, The Chart House, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Cadillac Mexican, Grotto Italian, and Red Asian Cuisine. Additionally they have several quick eats places: Chick-fila, The Grill, and Starbucks. I ate at Vic & Anthony’s and I encourage you to read my review of it.

Amenities:
The crown jewel of the hotel is their multi level swimming pool. The pool is split between 2 floors. The 2nd floor portion of the pool is surrounded by an aquarium so when you dive underneath the water you feel like you’re swimming with fish and sharks. To get to the lower level pool you take a water slide/tub which runs through the shark tank and lets you out into the lower level pool.

The hotel also boasts a spa, chocolate shop, full casino, dry cleaning service, and a mini mart. A parking garage and valet parking is also available as well as a Budget Car rental booth.

All in all it was quite a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable and clean, plenty of hot water and the rooms were quiet (as quiet as it can be in Vegas). I found the staff were very accommodating and friendly. I could recommend this hotel for those looking to experience Vegas as well as for families.

I was skeptical at first going into the GN especially not being able to get a room in the Rush Tower, but I did get an upgrade in the Carson Tower on the 22nd floor from I believe his name was Chad at the front desk. Our room was clean and spacious. It had 2 full size beds, 2 chairs, a small table, a big tv, night stand a hug dresser for all our our clothes for the weekend. The bathroom was full stocked of towels, hand towels and wash cloths, toilet paper, and lotion. We did not have any conditioner but a simple call to the front desk and housekeeping brought us a full stock of body wash, shampoo and conditioner! We also had ear plus due to GN being located right on Fremont Street. With the AC and the fan being on all night and the ear plugs? The noise was highly drowned out. The pool was amazing. We did order room service which comes from CJ— Claim Jumper— coffee, cinnamon roll and OJ—the cinnamon roll was the rock hard—do not order! The pool was amazing. The guy checking people in for the pool is very polite and is on it! 50/50 on the lifeguards: one guy with 2-tone hair, blonde on the ends wasn’t paying attention to these siblings on the shady side who I thought were going to drown themselves multiple times playing chicken. The other dark haired girl was blowing her whistle and keeping everyone in line which is nice and what you want with and bunch of drunken idiots in Vegas. Well done dark haired girl! We are Vegas locals and will be sure to come back to the GN again!! Thank you!

Wonderful hotel. We stayed in the Gold Tower and our room was spacious, clean, and very quiet. We were actually on the 2nd floor so I was a little surprised at that. We did have a corner room. Room service came by daily though we declined and just got fresh towels and our free bottles of water. The casino did get very crowed at night so we did most of our gambling at the much quieter, Binions, across the street. Fremont Street was awesome and we had zero issues with beggars approaching us, We chose to eat at various places all over Fremont and with so many dining options in walking distance there was something different every night. We stayed 4 nights before moving over to the Strip for a few nights which we regretted. Fremont was definitely our vibe. We did also walk to the famous Pawn Shop, and did the LOOP Bus for FREE to see the rest of downtown. Also wonderful.

Unfortunately, after looking forward to our trip & stay at the Golden Nugget for Christmas- New Year, our stay was less than spectacular. We stay in Vegas on Fremont frequently & have stayed at the Nugget before.

We were offered a $40/ day food & beverage credit. We arrived on Christmas and nothing, but Claim Jumper was open. We love their breakfast, but not into their lunch/ dinner & we had our hopes on another venue. We asked if the credit was added to the next day if not used, and we were told no. Since this was a selling point to us, it was very disappointing that we are just losing credits. We tried again to use the credit for room service, only to find they were not open. We were very frustrated and had to go elsewhere to eat.

Room service in fact was closed if it was too late (When most are finished enjoying the evening in Vegas), or too early or wrong day.

Our room was very hot. The AC unit barely worked and it's unseasonably warm in LV. We set the AC at the very lowest setting and still stayed hot in the room the entire stay.
As you can imagine, we drank up the water in a hot room. We texted the service each day to get bottled water replenished. We received a response text, but only actually got the service 2 times out of the 7 day stay.

Housekeeping came by and made the bed, gave us clown towels, but did not empty our trash.

Our bathtub had a crack in the tub itself.

The elevators to the Gold tower used to have card access only for those staying in that tower, but that was not present or not working any longer. The sense of security you had was partiality gone.

We get charged a $40-$50 a day resort fee, but not sure for what. Pool was closed for repairs, did not have a car to park, no room service, hot room, cracked shower & lack of security to our tower.

We went to leave, checked our bags with the bell hop and came back in an hour so we could go to the airport and no one could find the bell hop. The manager called him and nothing. The only highlight we had was the man who called up Taxis went in and got our luggage so we could go after we waited over a half hour.

It's a beautiful hotel with great restaurants, but the experience this time had us miserable for most of our vacation. We will be looking into another venue for our next trip to Vegas.

Before the pandemic we stayed here 2-3 times a year and always had a fabulous time. This is our first time back since August 2019 and WOW…things have changed and not for the better.
To give perspective, we are active seniors but a day of traveling is very tiring for us so when we finally get to our hotel we are eager to check in and get to our room. We arrived here at 3pm on a Sunday and I kid you not…stood in line for over an hour to check in. We were a bit surprised that the person at checkin did not even have the courtesy to apologize for the extremely long wait but we overlooked it. But also at check in, we were informed that housekeeping only comes every FIVE days but if we need fresh towels we can call and they will be bring some to our room. One of the things I enjoy most about staying in a hotel is coming back to our room after a day at the pool and having a freshly made bed and a tidy bathroom. This was a big disappointment but not necessarily a deal breaker.
After the nightmare at checkin, we were looking forward to happy hour at the Cadillac Cantina so again, we were disappointed to see a “$25 minimum per person” sign at the host station. We were told it was because of the football game being shown in the bar; however, we have enjoyed happy hour at the Cadillac many times when major sports events were being shown and this was not the policy. Another big disappointment and it is still only day 1.
On day 2 we discovered that the pool now does not open until 10am instead of 8:30. We stay at the Golden Nugget primarily because my husband loves the pool so again, a disappointed but not a deal breaker. However, we definitely were not expecting for the pool slide to be open only on weekends which sucks since it will be closed the entire time we are here. Still trying to make the best of things, we went back to the Cadillac Cantina looking forward to happy hour margaritas and tacos only to be told there was no happy hour because of Monday Night football.
It also does not help that one of the two Starbucks is closed for renovation so the line at the open location is constantly 10-15 people deep starting at 6am.
This is the only trip we are taking this year and based on our previous experiences at the Golden Nugget we were happy and excited to return but after what we have encountered I doubt we will come back here.

We had a family holiday in Las Vegas staying downtown in the Golden Nugget Hotel.
The room we had was spacious and clean.Although I would have liked a kettle in the room, with no tea making facilities, we had to buy tea from Starbucks, within hotel, 2 teas was over 11 USD ( £9 )
An American breakfast plus tea in The Claim Jumpet Restaurant was well over £20 and not really worth it.
The days of cheap food in America are over now, although Tony Romas Restaurant inside the Freemont Hotel did excellent meals, and you could go for the good value specials at certain times of the day,the staff were excellent.
The pool in the Golden Nugget was good with an exciting water shoot over a large aquarium with sharks, rays, etc.

This was one 4th and sadly, final, stay at Golden Nugget. We love the old school vibe of the property but this time it felt like we were being nickel and dimed to death. We booked a room in the Carson Tower but later found out that those rooms don’t have a coffee pot and that housekeeping is not available to guests in that tower. I like to caffeinate before I am around people and I enjoy daily housekeeping so, we upgraded to the Rush Tower for $65 more a night. Then, once checked in we were told that we had to call and request housekeeping. If you needed more towels, call. Trash picked up, call. Toilet paper, call. The registration desk for that tower was only staffed one time in the 3 nights that we were there so to get any help you have to go to the main registration with its long lines. We requested late check out and since it was the weekend, we could only delay it until 1:00 PM. $56.50 for two extra hours in our room. We inquired about just booking a room until our late evening flight and were told that would be $500. The resort fee is $38 per night and gets you slow, unsecured, wifi and access to the pool. We called the front desk to ask if the adult pool was open and they told us that it was. We went to the pool and it was not open at all. Add in the live concert outside of the tower until 1 AM each night, and it was not an enjoyable stay. By the time we paid for our upgrade, late check out and the resort fee it was 50% more than what we were quoted. At that price we could have stayed somewhere where housekeeping is included. On a positive note, James, the bellhop, was great.

Nice rooms, clean facility. Great location. We stayed in the Rush Tower which was very nice and away from the Fremont Street noise. As with most casinos, smoke is a huge issue. But you can find machines here and there where the smoke isn't too bad. We didn't eat at any restaurants in the hotel (we thought they were too expensive). But we found most everything way overpriced in Las Vegas. We walked a few blocks down to McDonalds for breakfast and coffee every morning. A family member did eat breakfast in the GN several days and said it was great! We didn't have daily room housekeeping. However, they have a great text message system, and they were very responsive to those requests for towels, water, etc.
Beware of the rooms with bathtubs, ours was a step-in tub, which was very high and difficult for older people to get into. There were no grab bars inside the tubs. Get a walk in shower room or an ADA room.

We came for a wedding being hosted in LV, and as a couple in our early 30s we thought DT would be better suited for us vs the Strip.. The self serve check-in kiosk is different, but not terrible. We checked in early and had to pay an additional fee to do so, even though there wasn't a room ready for us. We were told we would get a text when our room was ready but received no such text until we went to the front desk an hour later to ask about it.
We were asked about upgrading our room as we were booked in the Carson Tower and there are no amenities such as a coffee maker and fridge. We denied, not wanting to pay even more on top of the early check-in and resort fees, and figured we could make due without the extras.
As others have mentioned, I dont know why the resort fees are so high as we only got to utilize the free wifi. The pool was closed for the season, so I expected to pay less than we did.
There are workers there who will try to talk to you every chance they get to offer a tour. We denied multiple times and it got to be taxing to try to avoid the table.
The nail in the coffin was the rave that played 8pm-2am. We understand it's DTLV and Saturday night, but we would have appreciated the heads up. Our room was facing the venue so we could hear everything, even with the earplugs. Our AC was vibrating from the bass, and I could feel it in my chest. If we would have known about the rave we would have likely upgraded just to get away from the excessive sound.
The room itself is fine. For being "outdated" (as the front desk put it) I think it checked all the boxes. There was a rust stain in the bath tub, but that was really it. The king bed is firm and the pillows are soft, and everything was clean. We even ran into house keeping our first morning, and she gave a very warm "good morning".
There's a good variety of restaurants with decent food and good service (seriously every server we had was very good).
For me, the pool is the selling point. It was the main reason we booked this hotel over others, so we were disappointed that it was closed. It made complete sense though since its still in the 60's F and probably wouldn't be the best time (also my bad for not checking before booking).

TL;DR - super noisy, excessive fees, OK room.
Doubt we would stay again.

They stay was generally good. I was assigned a premium room in the Carson Tower, it was clean, but lacking attention to detail. Its time to use some of that slot money and remodel that part of the hotel.
I wish the hotel would consider moving to the 21 and up model. Nothing against kids, but in my opinion, that area is no place for kids. Difficult to relax at the pool when the guards are constantly blowing the whistle at them.
The front desk was resourceful and accommodating. I arrived early and was accessed the early check in fee, however they waived the fee and moved me to a premium room that washed the fee out.
I will stay there again.
