We just needed a hotel in order to attend a nearby family event, not to do the usual Vegas things, so we were more focused on price than entertainment. The California had fairly reasonable nightly rates, and it was one of the few places not charging a resort fee. The hotel is older but clean. The rooms were fairly well...

The Market Place restaurant is dirty. Food, crumbs on the carpet, tables are dirty, condiment containers were dirty. The saimin soup was warm, not hot. A big disappointment. The only reason we tried this hotel/restaurant is because fellow Hawaiians said they serve saimin soup. Rather go without.

I stayed here in March 2017 and it was a very good location. Close to Fremont Experience and minutes by bus to the strip. The hotel was like a Hawaii getaway because the theme was Hawaii. Great restaurants too It's a must to see, eat and stay here. You won't be disappointed

Room was clean, housekeeping was great. Registration tried to accomodate for an extra night but could not deliver (they asked for my name first, then told me there were no rooms available.....sounded like if I was a frequent guest, the answer might have been different??). Wall to wall people in the casinos was expected. Fremont Street was crazy fun! How...

Nice clean casino that caters to the people of Hawaii, they have a deli that serves up foods from the islands. Slots are tight but I haven't found any loose slots anywhere in vegas. I was a bit disappointed with no poker room, had to cross the street to Binions

Prior to our stay, I had never stayed downtown Vegas before. I was truly impressed with the friendly service from the staff. The hotel was recently remodeled and was very comfortable. My wife had previously stayed at the California and she was impressed with upgraded features. Rather you are on a budget, or just looking for a clean hotel located...

This isn't our first stay in Vegas, but it was our first downtown. The California has a few perks.... affordable, has an older/mild mannered crowd, peaceful at night, and adequate lodging. The staff and guests ARE primarily Polynesian/Asian, but they were gracious to us all the same.....WE DID HAVE A BIT OF A PROBLEM (diplomatic version). I started itching the...

The whole place, except for the somewhat dilapidated garage, has been recently remodeled. Check-in was quick and easy, and the rooms and all of the common areas really look fresh and great. Room service was quality the bathrooms especially the showers are very nice and it's generally very quiet. Also very nice to have a refrigerator and a safe in...

They say The Cal is the ninth island in the Hawaiian chain...why I wouldn't know. When you enter the hotel to check in, you walk into a blast of cigarette smoke that will linger until you get home. Order a non-smoking room and u receive smoke via the air vent. My guest and I hacked and coughed the whole 3...

I stayed there 4 nights to celebrate our 50th class reunion and had a blast. It felt like home because most of the people there were from Hawaii, and it appears they have a history of catering to locals from Hawaii. The food there is "Ono" meaning delicious and plentiful, lots of local grinds like lau lau , kalua pig...
