This is a great location if you are looking for a cheaper stay in Vagas. The Hotel 8 is attached to a great restaurant Ellis Island were they have a great BQ restaurant Or a stake restaurant. The prices are very responsible. It is located right behind Baleys Hotel and Casino it's about a 15 minute walk to the strip.

Walked out from our Strip hotel to find breakfast and found Ellis Island. Breakfast was really good (although the food could be hotter) and fantastic value. So good, we came back the next day! We also spend an hour on the tables and machines after breakfast and the dealer, Dave, on the blackjack table was so helpful and encouraging. It was great to find a $5 minimum bet table rather than the $50 minimum bet on the Strip. Thank you Ellis Island!

We stayed twice over the course of a week, as midweek we travelled to Arizona. On both occasions our rooms were good and luckily away from the main traffic. Checking in was a bit chaotic as we arrived in advance of the 3pm check-in time, but so had a room full of others on the first visit.

The staff were helpful on both occasions and managed to find almost adjoining rooms for ourselves and a friend who was already staying there. The rooms are a good size and comfortable.

Have been to Vegas many times, stayed at the casino's. the vacation hotels and small places, by far Ellis Island has been the best. Close to strip, (15minutes) clean rooms, friendly staff and great prices. Hotel is family owned and is dated, but rooms have been updated, well maintained and very clean.

Staff throughout the facility, (casino, hotel, restaurants) are all very friendly and helpful. Daily specials on food and drinks, an in-house brewery with $2.50, 20oz beer as well as some of the best and cheapest drinks in town.

If you want the big hotel and all that goes with it this is not your place. However, if you want good food, a great atmosphere, friendly local people as well as visitors, you need to check out Ellis Island.

About three years ago, I realized at the last minute that I was an idiot and booked my flight home for a day later than I'd meant to, leaving me with no place to stay for that extra night. I didn't think it was that big a problem until I tried to book a room and every place I checked was either full or would require a bank loan to stay there.

Finally I checked Ellis Island. I was a little leery as I hadn't heard many good things about it when it was Best Western but it was reasonably priced and I was desperate. If nothing else, I knew I'd have good meals nearby. The cafe in the casino next door is one of my favorite places in Vegas to eat.

I was pleasantly surprised. The room wasn't fancy but it was in good condition and bigger than I expected. There was a little fridge (back before most places finally started offering then), two free water bottles, a big TV with lots of channels, a safe, comfy furniture, and a good shower that didn't have that stupid half door. You get a free really big root beer at the casino with your room too.

They have security in the parking lot between the hotel and the casino and restaurants 24/7. I felt safe crossing even in the wee hours.

I've paid more for a room and gotten less.

The staff was really nice too. The elevator was out (the only bad thing there) and the only rooms available were on the second floor. I had an old rotator cuff injury and a heavy suitcase so I braced myself for a long wait for a ground floor room. A few minutes later, a security guard came over and offered to heft my suitcase up the stairs for me.

In my subsequent stays, the staff has always been friendly and very helpful with any questions or requests I've had. (And, yes, the elevator was working fine every other stay.)

I've made a point since then to stay part of my Vegas trips there. It's a bit off the strip but it's walkable if you're in good shape. If you're like me and have geezerly feet and knees, everything on the strip is a short and cheap Lyft ride away.

I haven't been to Vegas since the pandemic but when things settle enough to feel safe again, I'll definitely be going back here to stay.

Wow...where do I start. I arrived late and booked through the hotel website. Apparently I booked for the following day since it was after midnight. Shouldn't have been a problem since the rate was the same and it was booked directly through them....WRONG. I was told my booking through their own website was non refundable and couldn't be adjusted. So, they made me book again and offered no remedy to the situation.

After double paying and then inserting my card for the security deposit, i was told their terminal usually rejects bank of america cards and it did. I asked if they can waive the security deposit since I double paid for a room and their credit card terminal was the issue...NO LUCK.

Now, im about $300 into this dump of a room. I asked the front desk for some toothpaste and a toothbrush. First hotel that's ever told me they didn't have that. They acted like I was asking for caviar. Pointed me to the nearest 711.

Then made me sign about 4 things to confirm I wouldn't smoke or trash the room. Probably happens here often with how disgusting it is.

Area is horrible too. Homeless mentally challenged people screaming and harassing guests outside the property. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. The carrot on top was the horribly rude and unhelpful staff. I hope many people see this and stay away. You're better off in a hostel or on the street honestly.

Yes it's an older building, nothing fancy, but the rooms were recently updated and the beds are comfy. Location is near the strip and parking is free. I dined at all three on-site restaurants and found the level of service consistently high - seriously, i have only good things to say about the staff here.

Heads up, the rooms have louvers/slatted window shades, NOT blackout curtains, some people might not like that. Also the bathroom vanity didn't have much counter space. But these are minor gripes. overall great value for the money and fantastic staff.

We have stayed here before and like the location off the Las Vegas strip. The hotel offers good value with a clean, large, well-appointed room. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom includes a bath tub and shower combination. The room includes a safe, refrigerator, coffee machine, free parking and a discount at some of the hotel's restaurants. After requesting a quiet room, they placed us in a wing overlooking the huge construction site next to the hotel. We survived by running the bathroom fan for white noise through the night. The noise was still audible, but the situation improved dramatically. You must request service each day if you wish to have service. The pillows are small and lumpy. The bathroom sink is not enclosed by the bathroom door. There is no microwave in the room. The front desk staff was not very friendly when we visited. Our phone did not work and nothing was done when we reported it.

We asked ourselves how something right in town, so comfortable, and so affordable could be in Las Vegas. We drove from Reno, spent the night, went to the outstanding Valley of Fire State Park, and spent another night. The restaurant had very reasonable food which was tasty and $2.50 micro brews. What's not to like about Ellis Island Hotel?

Our first time staying at Ellis Island and for sure we will be back. Rooms were very clean and modern. Far less $$$ than similar places. Has a real nice patio sports bar which serves their own hand crafted beer at far less $$ than other breweries. Also has a nice indoor lounge and cafe. Staff was all nice and accommodating , a short walk from the strip. Will be our new favorite spot!

This is just a hotel with a restaurant 4th that was worth your money. It had some slot machines. The pool was outside, didn't use the pool. I don't remember how much we paid. I hope this can help you.
