We had a store motel, 1 queen room situated in a block across the parking lot from the reception/restaurant block. The room was on the small side as was the bathroom but both appeared to have been recently renovated and all worked. It was very...More
We initially stayed here because that was all that was available at the time we made our reservations. I am happy it worked out that way. The inn is in a great section of the park with beautiful views. Pictures on the website or views...More
During our five day stay in Glacier, we stayed at Lake McDonald Lodge, Rising Sun Motor Inn, and Many Glacier Hotel. Unlike Lake McDonald Lodge and Many Glacier Hotel, we very much enjoyed our stay at Rising Sun Motor Inn. It's unpretentious, simple, peaceful, serene,...More
We stayed in a cabin with two double beds. It had minimal amenities which was perfect for a stay in a national park. We saw bears near by, a mama bear with 3 cubs. Beds were clean, bathroom was clean, floor was clean. We'd stay...More
We stayed here for 5 nights. Our cabin was newly renovated and was small, though very well appointed. The furnishings were decorated nicely, and we could park right outside our room. The walls weren't too thin, so we didn't hear our neighbors. There is no...More

The cabin I stayed in was a double cabin...2 rooms per building. There were no chairs outside and the porch was not large enough to accommodate chairs if someone wanted to go inside the cabin. Our view from the front was the dirt road and the back was full of trees. We could hear the river but couldn't see it due to the thickness of the trees!

The speed limit on the Sun road is low. It depends on how much you are familiar with driving on mountain roads and your comfort level. I'd say it's about the same as driving to Mariposa at Yosemite and a little better than the road to Hurricane ridge. The road is wide enough for a sedan IMP. The area close to the rising sun goes around the cliff at st MARY lake. Try look at google map/earth to see for yourself. You can always take the shuttle or join the red bus tour, especially the secret valley tour to two Medicine it is quite nice and only takes half a day. The road to many glacier is fine and has no major drop offs. If your goal is to hike at many glacier, just remember it is about 40 min away. If you'd want to visit lake McDonald valley, it is quite a drive away and you may want to find a place over west glacier.
