Our stay at Rising Sun was lovely and peaceful. The cabin was absolutely adorable, very clean and located right next to Rose Creek which provided soothing sounds for the evening. While the cabin would probably have felt too small for an extended stay, it was...More
Stayed here in a cabin for 2 nights in July 2017. Great location on the east side of the park near St Mary Lake right of Going to the Sun Road. Wonderful General Store on property (gifts, good, drinks, camping supplies, etc.) . Lodge lobby...More
We spent a night in one of the "General Store" building rooms. Very basic but comfortable. No phone, tv or AC, but they did provide a box fan. We ate in the restaurant there and found the food to be excellent.
We were not expecting such nice accommodations when we checked in here.It is nothing fancy but very clean and comfortable. The first night we spent in a cabin. There was no air conditioning and we thought it might be uncomfortable with the high temps. However...More

The cabin I stayed in was a double cabin...2 rooms per building. There were no chairs outside and the porch was not large enough to accommodate chairs if someone wanted to go inside the cabin. Our view from the front was the dirt road and the back was full of trees. We could hear the river but couldn't see it due to the thickness of the trees!

The speed limit on the Sun road is low. It depends on how much you are familiar with driving on mountain roads and your comfort level. I'd say it's about the same as driving to Mariposa at Yosemite and a little better than the road to Hurricane ridge. The road is wide enough for a sedan IMP. The area close to the rising sun goes around the cliff at st MARY lake. Try look at google map/earth to see for yourself. You can always take the shuttle or join the red bus tour, especially the secret valley tour to two Medicine it is quite nice and only takes half a day. The road to many glacier is fine and has no major drop offs. If your goal is to hike at many glacier, just remember it is about 40 min away. If you'd want to visit lake McDonald valley, it is quite a drive away and you may want to find a place over west glacier.
