We were in town for a work conference and the hotel we were supposed to stay at was every bad experience you could imagine from a hotel. We started calling around looking for plan B and eventually talked to Jen at Kapilana. She was great, very accommodating, she rushed out to get a room ready for us and had the keys waiting when we walked into the lobby. Nice private pool. Bbq grills, picnic tables and lounge chairs outside the rooms. The next time we’re in Lake of the Ozarks we’ll be staying at Kapilana.
Filthy room, no blanket on beds; only sheet and light cover. The paperwork said they would charge $25.00 if you fail to take the garbage down the road to the dumpster when checking out. Toilet was disgusting as well as the tub. Needed dusting and cleaning and spider webs were in the corners. S few towels and a pillowcase had stains. On top of all that. We couldn’t use the coffee maker as the reservoir was full of dirt and coffee grounds along with the carafe that had not been cleaned and still full of coffee residue. I cleaned the carafe and before pouring water into the reservoir, noticed the filth in there. We are not too picky about our rooms but they must be clean!! Won’t stay here again.
We stayed at Kapilana for a weekend getaway with our young son (1.5yrs), my husband’s sister’s family and parents. We stayed at the Hilland Condo. It’s a safe feeling, clean area, nestled into the lake. It has beautiful views and a nice pool/beach area into the lake (note-the beach is rocks). This area features paddles boats and some kayaks for your enjoyment too. It was nice to try that with the kids. It also has a big float raft to enjoy lounging on. The area is roped off, so that you do not get too close to the boat dock areas. There is a playground area for the kids to use too, with swings, slide and teeter totter. The pool is large enough for multiple groups and has tables and chairs all around. The pool itself is 3ft deep on each side and 5ft deep in the middle. There is also two stair entrances. The condo itself is very spacious. There’s a kitchen, dining area and decent sized living room. The rooms are spacious, our king room (the master) had a lake view and sliding doors to the deck, as well a bathroom attached. The other room was a nice size with a queen bed. All rooms had a tv in them and had towels available for use (our master had very tiny towels, but the main bathroom had regular size). There were two closets with hangers too. They had extra pillows and blankets in the closets if needed. The main bathroom had a bathtub but the master bath just had a small shower. The comfort of the beds were okay. Sheets were soft but bed was springy. The condo itself is a little dated. It’s more of an 80s look. Of course, that didn’t bother us. It was all well maintained and clean. The kitchen had a dishwasher and trash compactor, as well other appliances. It was fully furnished with utensils and all you needed. There is also a grill outside if you wanted to use. Another nice touch was the games inside the family room (which had a tv and cable as well). The staff was very friendly and when we forgot our key, they were very quick and curious to just lend us another. It helps that they had that staff ready at any time. The parking is very close to your condo and there are plenty of spots. The owner was also very kind the first day coming to talk to us and giving all her hospitality. Overall, it was a really nice place to stay for our weekend getaway. I would definitely come back!…
We had about 35 people in 7 different condos in the complex and it could not have worked out better. The property managers Brian and Jen were very helpful, informative and accommodating all the way around. They went the extra mile too, helping us with a beach bonfire and they even provided the firewood. They were also very serious judges for our chili cook-off (in their community room), which was fun. . All the condos are an easy walk from one another but there are a lot of stairs (like probably everywhere else in the area). The pool is small but fine and there's a really nice bay with a raft and bunch of water toys. We spent a lot of time in the lake. We also rented boats from them which could not have been more convenient. The condos are well appointed and have everything you need. Some are more updated than others. It's a great location and easy to get to. I would highly recommend this resort.…
We had never been to Lake of the Ozarks and wanted a place on the water close to everything and we are glad we found Kapilana. First of all, the owners were so nice and helpful giving us advice on places to go and how to navigate the lake. They also work hard keeping Kapilana clean and tidy with no bugs! (They say they spray twice a month). We stayed in an adorable beach house right on the water with a wonderful view. I loved waking up and walking out the door to the peaceful sound of birds and a beautiful view. It was so calming. I also like how close we were to popular attractions and we spent our days boating the State Park and stopping by all the popular Beachfront bars and grills on the water like Dog Days, RedHeads, Shorty Pants, Backwater Jacks, Paradise and Franky and Louie’s. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.…
My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend getaway. Great location - minutes from restaurants on and off the lake and hiking in the state park. Great accommodations - our condo was beautiful and clean as was the entire resort...serene cove for relaxing and fishing. Great hospitality - this is a family owned and operated resort and it comes with an abundance of customer service and charm. The owners are clearly passionate about providing a great experience for there guests.
We stayed in Beach House #6 and #7. Very nice rooms newly renovated. Right on the water. We will definitely be back. The owners were great. This was a golf trip for the guys and shopping for girls. Very relaxing.
My husband and I have been to Ozarks many times for Bike Week. This year we decided to get a condo to share with friends. This resort was more than I expected. The view, the rooms, the atmosphere of the condo, I loved it all. My son was able to fish off the balcony. Seeing the smile on his face was worth it all. Will definitely be back! The only downside was the walk to the trash receptacle but it was manageable for our short stay.
We recently stayed in Unit 9 which is in one of the oldest buildings. It has been renovated by the new owners who purchased it this spring. There is a patio out front and it is right along the lake. We were near the pool area & had easy access to the parking area. There is nothing fancy about it; which is part of its charm! It was relaxing & we felt safe the entire time. The owner allowed us to borrow the paddle boat which we enjoyed using in the cove. We did not have children, but saw them enjoying the playground and swimming in the small beach area (I would suggest water shoes as there is fishing). The resort was located within 5-10 minutes of most things we wanted to do! The only small issue is how bright the room was at night due to outside lighting.
I just spent a weekend at Kapilana Resort & although I've stayed at several places in this area over the years, Kapilana is my new favorite spot. I love the location. My room - a poolside suite with 2 bedrooms & a kitchen - was spacious & clean. The pool & patio were immaculate & the lake area was ideal for swimming or laying out on the dock or the giant lily pad. Above all I love the atmosphere at this resort. It was friendly & relaxing & the owners were hospitable from the moment we arrived on friday until we checked out on Sunday. They are clearly passionate about their new business & go the extra mile to make guests feel at home at every opportunity. Already planning a trip to this resort with my family next month.
