We had lunch here at the halfway point of a day trip on the canal. Friendly service and tasty meals with a reasonable range of beers and ciders. £15 for a light lunch and drinks was rather good. Decor is aging, but the pub is well frequented.

It was a lovely sunny day during the week and we wanted to go to somewhere in a relaxing setting where we could sit outside. Although I hadn't visited the White Lion in a number of years, it came to mind due to its location and outdoor area. It was lovely sitting in the garden but I'm sorry to say...

Visited the White Lion on a Friday lunch time. Friendly greeting from the bar staff, who happens to be the owner. She was efficient in taking both drinks and food orders. Drinks served immediately in good clean glasses at the correct temperature on this warm day. The wait for food was a little long.... However we was well worth waiting...

Mistakes happen and they got our order wrong. I paid £31 For two drinks, two puddings, pie and chips and a roast dinner. Pie is hard to mess up but it did taste funny. Not rich gravy. Beef dinner also very rare (although that its perhaps personal preference). Puddings quite stodgy and may have been homemade but didn't have the...

Went on a lovely sunny day and sat outside in the beer garden. Was a really nice atmosphere. Once I went inside I felt the women behind the bar was a bit grumpy and abrupt when she spoke to me, otherwise I would have given a 4. I had the roast chicken dinner which was nice, only thing is I...

Warm welcoming atmosphere and a great place for friends to catch up and put the world to rights. The staff and regulars are really friendly. This pub could quite easily become our favourite meeting place.

We landed on this pub on Easter Saturday as a family party of eight plus 3m old baby, having hired a canal boat for the day. Although it was mid afternoon and the pub was empty, the staff made us feel welcome and offered us the full menu. The manager was great with our five year old grandson. He obviously...

Having read several recent poor reviews on the White Lion I felt I had to write about our experience. On 13th March my wife and I, together with our dog, visited the White Lion Pub on a sunny Sunday afternoon, having had a long walk on the nearby Leeds Liverpool Canal, and in need of some refreshment. We had a...
