I'll try to make this reasonably short! We booked our trip here when our Texas camping plans got rained out. We knew it would still rain a little there, but we liked that we would have a nice indoor space, like cabin camping, so it was the best of both worlds. The cabooses are very cool. They are very authentic, with original bunks, pot-belly stoves, and more but are updated with a shower, toilet, kitchen, and private-ish full sized bed in the cupola. They even have TV and WiFi, but we tried not to use that. The property is quite beautiful, with the cabooses up a slight hill from the water. The dock facility seems very nice, and they have canoes and a paddle boat for you to use. They even lent us life jackets for the kids! The owners are great hosts. They were very accommodating and were certainly dedicated to taking good care of us. It felt like a B&B in this regard. We stayed there a few weeks before they were officially open for the season, but they prepared a Caboose for us anyway. It was a little chilly, so I was disappointed that it was too cold swim once I saw the gorgeous lake with clear water. We'll have to come back for that! We slept our family of five (two adults, two kids, and a baby) very comfortably. The layout of the space is perfect for compact living and has lots of hidden storage especially if you get creative. There was even another bunk we did not take advantage of. All in all I'd say you can easily sleep 6 there if you needed to. You do need to realize that while it is very nice for what it is, you are still living in a 100 year old caboose, not a suite at the Ritz. It's a tight space, and not very accessible.. The shower and toilet room are quite small, and the stairs up to cupola are steep and narrow. If you are a larger person or elderly you may not enjoy it quite as much. Still, we were surprised at how functional it was for our family! A few tips: - Cooking-wear is provided, but the kitchen is very small. Cook as much as possible before hand if you can. - Take advantage of the potbelly stove if it's cold. It's quite effective! They even provide the appropriate sized firewood. - We brought a bed rail for the top bunk. It's narrow and even if an older kid fell it would be quite painful! Also there are not stairs for the bunk, but my 5 year old saw that as a Pro not a Con :) - There is lot to do in Branson (a short drive away) if you have bad weather, so that's nice! - I did not try the WiFi, but had great LTE coverage so I could do a little work on my laptop if I needed to. I may take advantage of this to do a little work-cation next time and stay longer! - Again I will say that the hosts are great. If you have a problem, just tell them and I'm sure they will do what they can to fix it!…
