Detailed Reviews
Having stayed for one night ( Room 3 ) we would use the Queen Matilda again when exploring the Cotswolds. A cheery welcome by Lynne with the usual brief and up to the room, Immaculate, clean with normal host accompaniments tea / coffee / bottled water etc. The Bathroom was a little smaller than expected. The Loo Seat was loose and maybe a suction tray to hold Soap / Shampoo in the excellent Shower would help. Overall a Good Standard of room for the Price. Evening Meal was superb, Vegan Pie and Venison Steak were large in portion, Cooked to perfection and really tasty, Excellent. Breakfast was very good in variety, quality of product and plentiful. A friendly smiling wave and cheerio as we set of on our explorations was just the ticket and we will certainly recommend the Queen Matilda to everyone and definitely return. Keep up the Good Work Lynne and the Chef`s just Brilliant

We have just returned from our 2nd New Year celebrating at the Queen Matilda and have booked to return next Year Year.
The Inn is amazing. We ate here on New Year’s Eve and the food was oustanding. The rooms are perfect as well. Clean, fresh, cosy and with tiled floors, perfect as we had our 2 dogs with us who were made very welcome. Very modern bathroom with an amazing waterfall shower. Breakfast was made to order with a good choice and unlimited coffee and juice.
The owners are very friendly and cannot do enough for you.
It pub itself is tastefully decorated and our dogs were also welcome inside.
I highly recommend both the pub and the rooms. Very reasonably priced too.

Booked for my wife`s birthday for the night as well as an evening meal, nice warm welcome on arrival, showed to our room which was very nice, plenty of storage, lovely bed and great bathroom, good tea and coffee tray as well.
We ordered our food in the pub which was very homely and whilst we were waiting we watched all the food coming out from the kitchen as you do. You could tell the chef knew his way around a kitchen as all the food was presented very well, nothing thrown on the plate here.
We both started with slow roasted celeriac and beetroot with cobnut and apple salad and Welsh blue cheese, this was pub food but cranked up a few levels, nice fresh starter which did not fill you up too much.
My wife had fish chips and mushy peas, the batter was crisp and thin, she loved it, i had the star of the show, Provencal Bouillabaisse with monkfish, scallops, mussels and red mullet in a tomato sauce with homemade bread, well it was a shame others were eating in the pub otherwise i would have licked the bowl. We shared a good cheeseboard and drank Butcombe beer, good food, nice staff and good atmosphere.
Breakfast the next morning was all local products, 7 different items cooked really well, my wife had a lovely birthday so i could not ask for more. We will return.

Fabulous food location and accommodation.
3 rooms refurbished at rear of property , 2 on first floor and 1 on ground floor.
Absolutely delicious and large portion meals served , breakfast and evening meal.
Rooms are modern and so spotlessly clean with tea /coffee facilities including bottled water .
Property is just a few miles outside Tetbury , Lynne was wonderful host , nothing too much trouble for her , suggesting places to visit locally and flexible with breakfast times .
Food exceptional quality and quantity, you will not leave hungry that’s a fact .
Plenty of car parking too.

We had heard good reports of the Queen Matilda and visited for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. Best we have had in a very long time, salt marsh lamb and belly pork, both delicious and so were the perfectly cooked vegetables all served with a gorgeous gravy. Great service too.
We returned this week, tempted by the tapas menu, which again was just wonderful, amazing quality, and a real treat - felt like we were back in Barcelona! Definitely worth a visit, and it was great to sit outside in this crazy hot weather.

A very nice place with very nice staff and delicious food. The room was comfortable and clean with a modern en suite ( although strangely no shaving point for electric razor). Cannot fault the accommodation but it may be worth bearing in mind that taxis are difficult to get in the area and very expensive ie we were quoted £35 to go to a wedding venue in Tetbury, 4 miles away. Don't let that put you off the Queen matilda though, because the place is 5 star...

Really enjoyable stay, the hosts were friendly and helpful, including supplying a list of taxi firms at short notice. The room was nicely furnished and comfortable and the food and beer was excellent. Would definitely come again and would recommend.

Room very clean and fresh excellent bathroom. Good breakfast in the morning. Only minor down was that the restaurant / dining area was not open on a Tuesday but we were directed to a couple of very nearby alternatives. Highly recommended.
