Stayed in the studio, moved to the carriage. Walked in stressed, left relaxed. Loved how relaxed the whole place was, the outdoor shower was a refreshing change. Its not the Hilton and I didn't want it to be. I learnt from the lifestyle, I enjoyed the relaxed approach and I WILL do it again. Made me feel human and I...

Really regretted staying at Painted Fish. Nearly ruined my holidays! I should have read the postings here instead of trusting the blogs on its own website. On hindsight, common sense would have tell me that only good things are being presented on it's own website. Full of cobwebs and the place looks so run down that it sends shivers down...

Really enjoyed staying here. Stayed in the cottage and the bed was really comfortable. Loved the solar pagola. Were able to use the hosts' bikes to get into Fremantle but a bit far to walk. Maybe would have liked simple breakfast provisions forte price?

We stayed in the studio for 4 nights (note, the other two accommodations are different). This place is very different. You'll love it if you like to live al fresco, get close to nature and/or have kids in the 5-12 age range. On the other hand, it has some downsides. The mezzanine bedroom is up a narrow circular staircase and...

My daughter (16) and I stayed in the studio last weekend and we just loved it! We came from Geraldton and theres always so much to fit into such a short time. It was wonderful to come back to the studio and relax. Wish we had more time to spend there during the day. All week I have been thinking...

The Painted Fish studio turned our visit to Australia from a great holiday into a wonderful experience. I could have spent all day everyday in the courtyard of the Painted Fish studio apartment and at South Fremantle Beach 2 minutes walk away. The Studio is definately (to me) the ideal of the 3 accomodations at the Painted Fish because the...

We stayed in the Studio apartment and were really looking forward to it, but it turned out to be the worst place we've ever stayed. The accomodation is at the end of a run-down street which is a 30 minute walk from Fremantle. There was nobody there to greet us and we quickly began to regret our decision to stay...

We stayed in the Carriage. I cannot comment on the other 2 accommodation styles the Painted Fish offers. The (Railway) Carriage is actually a Cattle Cart with sliding doors that a very fit person would have trouble opening and closing - a health and safety risk. The furniture was so old I wouldn't even offer it to a charity. The...

The Painted Fish advertises itself as an eco-village, the owners go out of their way to make everything environmentally friendly, you can check it out on their website. We stayed in the cottage, two adults and three kids and we loved. No TV, no AC and didn't miss it for a minute. The owners are artists and a lot of...

“Your choice of room will depend on your individual preferences but I personally like the studio. Couples will like the romantic feel of this place. For families or groups the house is best. The carriage suits one person or couples who only need a small space and it is the least expensive.”
