A Island beach retreat in North East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. The Retreat offers glamping next to world class beaches with five pristine beachfront rooms and an exclusive elevated penthouse. All rooms are fan-cooled with ensuites and beachfront decks. The resort has an elevated restaurant, bar and pool with magnificent views overlooking the Arafura Sea.
We stayed three nights, swam in the sea every day just outside our very, spacious, comfortable cabin and ate the most superb meals every night. The standard our hosts, Helen & Trevor maintain is 5 star and amazingly, all off-grid. It gave us an opportunity to relax, learn about a very special area of Australia and enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the deck with just 8 other guests. It is a unique place to experience and we’d recommend you stay there.

We stayed at Banubanu as a couple for 3 nights and first up we wish we had booked for another night. Helen and Trevor were amazing hosts and were very friendly and nothing was ever to much trouble. We were able to book two days fishing charter on the islands boat. The fishing was awesome we caught some great fish which the chef prepared for our dinner that night. Helen also arranged for us to go mud crabbing . Tony was our local indigenous guide, he was very accommodating and full of knowledge we both felt very honoured that Tony shared his time and homeland with us. We were literally slogging through mangroves looking for crab holes in a known croc waterway, it was amazing and an experience we will never forget! The island is stunning and all about nature. Your accomodation is a beautiful clamping tent right on the beachfront, the views are spectacular. The colour of the water is beautiful and very blue. All staff were lovely and so friendly. Both Steve and I were so sad to leave and left feeling like we were leaving great friends. We both very highly recommend a visit to Banubanu Retreat ( Bremer island) the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you to Helen and Trevor for sharing your beautiful retreat with us . Tracey and Steve…

Thank you Tracey & Steve, It was such a pleasure to have met two beautiful people who totally immersed yourselves into island living from the moment you stepped off the plane. From all of the staff at Banubanu you will both be remembered fondly especially for the coronas, crabs and sundeck on your final night. Warm regards Helen, Trevor and the Banubanu Team.

Helen and Trevor have done an amazing job of creating this spectacular resort… My family and I spent a day on the island and it’s was one of my favourite days! I can not wait to come back again! Had a lovely day out. Helen was very helpful and friendly. One of the very few places where we could swim in the ocean - they have a beautiful beach, turquoise water, kayaks. The main pavilion has magnificent high views over the Arafura Sea. Restaurant quality seafood lunch was delicious. Highly recommended day out from Nhulunbuy.

We have just spent 4 nights at this fantastic resort - it was an amazing experience. From the moment we were picked up from the Nhulunbuy airport, driven to the boat and out to the island, nothing was too much trouble. Helen and Trevor were friendly and approachable and always ready to answer our questions. Our accommodation in the penthouse was perfect - comfortable bed, ensuite, quality linen, a large deck overlooking the beautiful Arafura Sea. We could walk down to the beach to swim, snorkel over the coral or just relax under a beach shelter. There are walks around the island and over to the western beach. The staff were always friendly and accommodating - Romi and Lenny in the dining area, Andrew and Sean preparing delicious meals and Shane, who made Stephen’s holiday by taking him to many fly fishing hotspots! I cannot recommend a visit to this beautiful resort highly enough, you will be so well looked after.…

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful beach retreat on Bremer Island in April 2021. Our accommodation was in a spectacular beachfront bungalow on the Western Cove, literally a few meters to the beach. Our bungalow included a very comfortable bed, ensuite and lounge area as well as a deck which over looked the beach. The owners/hosts were very accommodating, friendly, and always on hand to satisfy our needs. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was all about rest and relaxation while soaking in the view. We can highly recommend this holiday Retreat to anyone. There was absolutely nothing we did not like about our whole experience.

Banubanu is an amazing beach retreat on lovely Bremer Island. Just a quick boat trip from the mainland you find yourself in paradise. With cute beachside bungalows and amazing hosts, you can't ask for more. The staff and owners go out of their way to make your experience one of a kind. From pool/beachside cocktails, 5 star food to fishing expeditions, the entire experience was sublime. Pure relaxation, I can't rate this highly enough.

We only did a day trip 9am to 4 pm. The boat trip there and back was good. but Banubanu beach retreat was absolutely more beautiful than we anticipated. When we arrived we were welcomed by 2 dolphins swimming at the beach were we landed. Then we went up to the restaurant to get information of points of interests. The owners Helen and Trevor were so welcoming showing us the best places to walk short tracks around the near by areas. We decided to go for a walk first and take in the other side of the bay which was a beautiful white beach to the right of us and huge rocks to the left of us. We check out both. The water was pristine and the sand squeaky white. We were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves. When we got back to the main bay in front of the restaurant we had a cool off in the safe area near the rocks, no stingers or crocs just crystal clear cool water. We then headed up to the restaurant for a delicious lunch of local thread fin fish and chips and a couple of beers. Then spent the next hour in the swimming pool on the front deck of the restaurant. The staff were delightful and the view spectacular. It would have certainly been a bonus to stay the night in one of the 5 glamping tents. This is what makes this place so special is the number of people here is low giving it a very exclusive feel. We enjoyed our day from the moment we arrived to when we left. Highly recommend a visit to the beautiful retreat. …
