Helen and Trevor have done an amazing job of creating this spectacular resort… My family and I spent a day on the island and it’s was one of my favourite days! I can not wait to come back again! The food was delicious and who knew you could snorkel in the NT! If you go to Nhulunbuy add this to the MUST do list!
We spent three nights at Banubanu in one of the five bungalows and the experience was one to remember! The staff were all friendly, attentive and professional. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was amazing. Attention to detail stands out at this retreat and I would highly recommend it for a memorable getaway.
Had a lovely day out. Helen was very helpful and friendly. One of the very few places where we could swim in the ocean - they have a beautiful beach, turquoise water, kayaks. The main pavilion has magnificent high views over the Arafura Sea. Restaurant quality seafood lunch was delicious. Highly recommended day out from Nhulunbuy.
We have just spent 4 nights at this fantastic resort - it was an amazing experience. From the moment we were picked up from the Nhulunbuy airport, driven to the boat and out to the island, nothing was too much trouble. Helen and Trevor were friendly and approachable and always ready to answer our questions. Our accommodation in the penthouse was perfect - comfortable bed, ensuite, quality linen, a large deck overlooking the beautiful Arafura Sea. We could walk down to the beach to swim, snorkel over the coral or just relax under a beach shelter. There are walks around the island and over to the western beach. The staff were always friendly and accommodating - Romi and Lenny in the dining area, Andrew and Sean preparing delicious meals and Shane, who made Stephen’s holiday by taking him to many fly fishing hotspots! I cannot recommend a visit to this beautiful resort highly enough, you will be so well looked after.…
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful beach retreat on Bremer Island in April 2021. Our accommodation was in a spectacular beachfront bungalow on the Western Cove, literally a few meters to the beach. Our bungalow included a very comfortable bed, ensuite and lounge area as well as a deck which over looked the beach. The owners/hosts were very accommodating, friendly, and always on hand to satisfy our needs. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was all about rest and relaxation while soaking in the view. We can highly recommend this holiday Retreat to anyone. There was absolutely nothing we did not like about our whole experience.
Banubanu is an amazing beach retreat on lovely Bremer Island. Just a quick boat trip from the mainland you find yourself in paradise. With cute beachside bungalows and amazing hosts, you can't ask for more. The staff and owners go out of their way to make your experience one of a kind. From pool/beachside cocktails, 5 star food to fishing expeditions, the entire experience was sublime. Pure relaxation, I can't rate this highly enough.
We only did a day trip 9am to 4 pm. The boat trip there and back was good. but Banubanu beach retreat was absolutely more beautiful than we anticipated. When we arrived we were welcomed by 2 dolphins swimming at the beach were we landed. Then we went up to the restaurant to get information of points of interests. The owners Helen and Trevor were so welcoming showing us the best places to walk short tracks around the near by areas. We decided to go for a walk first and take in the other side of the bay which was a beautiful white beach to the right of us and huge rocks to the left of us. We check out both. The water was pristine and the sand squeaky white. We were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves. When we got back to the main bay in front of the restaurant we had a cool off in the safe area near the rocks, no stingers or crocs just crystal clear cool water. We then headed up to the restaurant for a delicious lunch of local thread fin fish and chips and a couple of beers. Then spent the next hour in the swimming pool on the front deck of the restaurant. The staff were delightful and the view spectacular. It would have certainly been a bonus to stay the night in one of the 5 glamping tents. This is what makes this place so special is the number of people here is low giving it a very exclusive feel. We enjoyed our day from the moment we arrived to when we left. Highly recommend a visit to the beautiful retreat. …
Wow... What a brilliant little piece of paradise this place is. Trevor and Helen are so welcoming, Andrew is an incredible chef and Ruth is an excellent waitress and all rounder behind the bar. We loved every minute of our 3 days on the island and very grateful for the experience. We are already planning to come back again in September for our anniversary. There are plenty of things to do on the island to keep you busy or you can just take the time to relax and unplug from social media. Could not recommend Banubanu high enough. Please do yourself a favour and visit this hidden gem.
Absolutely heavenly! My husband and I spent the weekend at Banubanu resort and had the best time. The beach is just beautiful and you’re able to swim in the water (just being aware of your surroundings at all times). There’s a great selection of things to keep you entertained from snorkelling, kayaking, swimming and then walking to a few lookout spots around the retreat. The restaurant was top quality food, honestly the best food we’ve had in the Territory! Hats off to Andrew for also being able to provide gluten free options for every meal! Ruth, our waitress, was just incredible too. She was so attentive to our needs but never imposing. The accom was more than comfortable and quite private. The view is just stunning - we just loved waking up to the ocean every morning. I cannot recommend Banubanu enough. This is the perfect location - whether it’s just popping in for lunch on a boat trip for the day, having a romantic getaway or even a wedding, you cannot find anywhere better! And visiting Banubanu supports the local community too, I do recommend you visit!!…
We stayed for 6 days to celebrate a big-0 birthday and it was fabulous. We have stayed at a few Aman resorts around the world and it was similar in quality. The owners, Helen and Trevor, were great hosts asking daily what they could do for us and even organised another pair of reading glasses to be brought over to the island for my husband when he lost his. All the staff were excellent with special mention to Emma, Andrew and Shane. Andrew the chef prepared a spectacular 3chefhat meal for us with the fish we caught on a fishing trip. Our “Penthouse” tent was great with a ceiling fan, ensuite bathroom and balcony. A truly 5 star resort in Australia!
