We enjoy finding hidden gems in Minnesota and the St James in Red Wing is exactly that. We had a wonderful evening at the hotel eating supper at one of the couple in-house restaurants The Veranda and then going up to Jimmy's Pub for a few drinks. Our room was very clean and comfy and exactly what you'd expect with...

I have been through Red Wing a number of times and I took the opportunity to stay at the St. James. They have done a wonderful job of restoring this gem. The room cost was quite reasonable. The rooms have period furniture and very comfortable. The staff at the desk were efficient, friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying...

Yes, this is a historic hotel and it is well maintained. Each room represents a bit of history in Red Wing Minnesota. There are period furnishings, tin ceilings, and period wall paper. Very comfortable rooms with excellent bedding. The staff is also excellent. The hotel has several restaurants and a pub. These are also excellent. There are a number of...

Hi Caroline, Wow 2500 mile road trip! Awesome and thanks for choosing to make a trip up to us! Thank you for the tip for new comers or travelers. The trains at night can become a little noise but we hope the experience and views helps ease that a little. Lots to see and do outside as well. Hope your...

I couldn't have made a better choice of hotel for the little vacation my daughter and I took. We'd never been to Red Wing but it looked like an interesting and easily driven destination. The St. James is beautiful, historic and quite a find for the price. Plusses: a clean and comfortable room, great pub and restaurants on the premises,...

Hi Judith, Happy to know you plan on visiting us again in the near future. Mother, daughter trips are the best! The RiverBlu Salon and DaySpa is brand new to the hotel this year and we just love them. We like to think we have everything under one roof and then some being on Main street and close to everything....

My husband and I stayed in a whirlpool suite at this historic hotel for his birthday. The room was impressive. The bed was comfortable. The room had a fireplace, which we didn't use, but I did turn it on to take a photo. The staff was friendly. The only negative is there wasn't a view, other than a brick building,...

Stayed on 3rd floor in the Cyclone room. It was a spacious room with river view. Queen bed , ample storage, desk & chair. Room was spotless. Turndown service in the evening was a nice touch. It is a fun hotel to explore! A couple bars & restaurants spread throughout the hotel. Enjoyed my stay tremendously.

My wife and I were looking to get away for a weekend, and we really wanted a room with a jetted tub. We're from La Crosse, so we started looking around the area, and stumbled upon the St. James. The St James has been a traditional getaway for my wife and I. The traditional feel and layout of the rooms, with the close proximity to good food (Jimmy's Pub) and great outdoors activity (Barn Bluff) makes for a great stay every time.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the location is enviable, and their restaurants and bar are superb! The Port Restaurant is ideal for a romantic celebration! Their food is consistently outstanding and the service is extraordinary. The Veranda Cafe is wonderful for breakfast and lunch, but it would be a faux pas to miss Jimmy's Pub on the 5th floor.
