We booked this as an overnight stay while visiting friends in Stillwater. The place is old but very comfortable. I loved the original wide planked floors and the huge fireplace. The lighting is soft making it cozy on a cold winter night. The bedroom was nothing special but the bed was comfortable, and they allow pets. Their own dog is...

The Outing Lodge has so much natural beauty. It was the perfect setting for our simple but very special day. The girls got ready in the wedding suite which gave perfect natural lighting and a picturesque setting for glam. We took our wedding photos in the forest behind the lodge that couldn't of been more beautiful. For food we started...

Based on the emergency exit map, we had the largest first floor room, which is four rooms: the bedroom, a sitting room, the sun porch, and the "necessary" room. Our bedroom had a fireplace, with an electric heater within, which kept things cozy, a large bed, several chairs, and a t.v. The ambiance is great throughout, and is rather like...

My husband and I wanted a short get away to Stillwater, MN which is a wonderful historic small town. I purchased a Groupon coupon for the Outing Lodge at Pine Point due to its close proximity to Stillwater. Upon arrival we were greeted outside by the resident family dog, who was extremely friendly and loveable. We entered the Bed &...

This old building has a very interesting history. It was originally a poor house, then an assisted living facility, and now, a homey bed and breakfast. When we first arrived the place was warm and cozy from a fire going in the large fireplace in the main room. At first glance the building looks to be in disrepair, but after...

Our room was $300 and certainly not worth that. The bed was old and creaky, the chairs were worn out and the bread spread was in need of updating or changing, the bathroom tile was chipped and coming apart, we did not feel comfortable taking a bath or shower, the room had an "odd" smell to it, the "screen" porch...

We had purchased a groupon which we had no problems using during the week. We chose the Robert Frost room which had a king bed. The room was spacious with lots of windows for natural light. Many books and historical elements commemorating Robert Frost are found throughout the room. The Outing Lodge has quite an interesting history and the grounds...

The area is beautiful, but the room was average and not worth the price. The bed, although old, creaked, and the step down into the jacuzzi tub/shower was so deep that I almost fell and had to use the towel bar to get back out. We had a lovely walk around the grounds and the breakfast was very nice, but...

First of all, we were ignored when we arrived and then told they were busy and would be with us shortly. There was nowhere to sit and wait. We were eventually shown to a small clean room. The bathroom was comical. The sink wobbled and it took forever to get WARM water. Never did get hot and no pressure. The...

We had a great time at the Outing Lodge. Wonderful hosts and delicious breakfast. The grounds and walking trails are so beautiful and serene. We were there for a planning retreat and had plenty of room to sit and work on our goals. The bed in Amelia was soft and cushy. We'll be back! Thanks, Marilyn

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
