Besides the fact it took me months to actually get a reservation after many phone calls and emails exchanged, they finally let us stay the nite. The property is full of dilapidated buildings and there are piles of lumber and concrete and the actual building really needs an update. Our room smelled old & stale, which built in 1858 isn’t...

Thank you for your review: Your opinion is important to us and we appreciate it ! We are very sorry that it took you so long to place the reservation; every time we run these deals ( like Crowd Cut, Google offers, or other) we sell a large number vouchers ( it is good business for us and a very...

My husband and I used a Crowd Cut voucher for our one-night stay. The inn and surroundings were pretty rustic and seemed a good value for the (discounted) price. The staff I spoke to on the phone and by email were helpful, though not very present during our stay. The dog was very friendly, and was the "staff" member with...

I wish I would have read the reviews before we purchased the Crowd Cuts coupon - likely would not have spent the money. I definitely would not pay full price to stay here. First impressions mean everything to me, and what I saw while driving up to the lodge was lots of piles junk everywhere. I understand that they are...

My boyfriend and I are Twin Cities folk, and we decided that a night get-away was in order. The lodge, beautiful and historic, has more character than any other place that we have ever stayed. The room was stayed in was small but cozy, the shower a bit tempermental but the whirlpool tub was just devine. The champagne and truffles...

Like many others, we had a one night stay to celebrate an anniversary. The exterior of the lodge and its surroundings are quite stately and beautiful. The owner and the staff were very friendly as was the chocolate lab. Certain characteristics of the lodge were charming such as the massive fireplace on the main floor, the aged wood floors and...

We are very sorry to hear that you had a problem with your internet connection. "Connecting' to the Wi-Fi should be simple and easy (we have 2 internet DSL connections- wireless- via Century Link - main floor and upstairs) . The connection works for most of our guests. Again, this is an old house, most walls are cement and you...

shabby chic - this place has charm to burn but it's not a cookie cutter hotel. if you want that, go elsewhere. if you want friendly staff, quiet room, nice fireplace, romantic setting and good breakfast, stay here! the massive walk-in fireplace in the main room is to be seen to be believed!

We never received a phone call about the check-in which was supposed to be 3:00. We were not allowed to check in until 5:00, so we sat in a library, that with the right care and attentive management then this place could have been wonderful. It was an absolute mess. Piles of papers, junk everywhere, books strewn, a comforter covering...

Love is -also- in the eye of the beholder...(or not). Dear Will, we apologize for the inconveniences you suffered during your stay at the Lodge and we are very sorry that the Lodge did not meet your expectations. I do need, however, to make some corrections and clarifications to your comments. 1-Normal check-in time is - at the earliest -...

We did a winter getaway for a night. It was very quiet and relaxing. The staff was very friendly. The room was older and unique...in a good way. The fireplace alleviated the winter chill. It's very close to downtown Stillwater (10 minute drive) if you want food/shopping options. They do not allow outside alcohol; they do have a full bar...

This is a beautiful old home with old world charm which I love. While there was a lot of charm with this old hotel and the largest fireplace i've ever seen, the resort lacked some things. The builiding is quite old which is part of its niche, however, many of the updates done were done very poorly in terms of craftsmanship. In our room alone, there was some framing done around the windows...

Thank you for your feedback. We can only improve if we know where our short comings are : it is our goal to make all our guests happy and satisfied. To start, I would like to clarify that we are not a resort: we are a B&B, which is a quite different concept than a 'resort'. This should help give...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
