The tv was too small. The fridge wasn't cold. The phone didn't work. People were screaming and slamming doors at 130am. I tried to call to have something done but my room phone was not working and the front desk couldn't hear. I had to use my cell phone

Normally when I visit my kid at the U of M, I stay at the Aloft on Washington Ave. (highly recommend), but this time I chose this large aging hotel because it's next to the school and a light rail station & I needed a few more Wyndham points. I can see how this place would be popular on weekends the Minnesota Gophers football team plays at home. It's across the street from Huntington Bank Stadium. Parking was also free. The rooms are smallish, at least room 201, which has a single queen bed. The bed might too fit for some folks. For one night it was fine. There was a larger than average refrigerator in the room, but no microwave. The nits I would pick include a hair dryer that only works on low, hallway got a little loud about 7:15 am when staff were playing music while walking by, vending machines were outside my door along with the entrance to the room where breakfast is served. Entrance to the lobby of keycards access or you need to be buzzed in 24/7. I didn't check out breakfast offerings. I just can't eat the complimentary budget hotel offerings. The only exception would be Holiday Inn Express. There is a restaurant next to the parking lot. You might be asking if I would stay here again. If I'm just spending one night by myself visiting my kid, possibly. For cheaper hotel the Aloft is still my go to, but sometimes you can get a good deal on The Renaissance (a great hotel for couple's weekend).

Everyone at the front desk was exceptionally nice. Unfortunately, we were given an occupied room at check-in at 1:30 a.m. Our second room bathroom had (we presume) black and rainbow hair dye staining the tub. The tub/toilet part of the room is so small, it’s hard to use the toilet sitting down. The actual room was pretty clean, just dated. If you are going to the football stadium or any of the sports stadiums on campus near the football stadium, they are within walking distance. The hotel was quiet until Sunday morning. Room service started loudly knocking at 7:30 a.m. other than that, we heard a random siren and the rest was very quiet.

This is a very convenient place to stay if you need to go to either the University of Minnesota or are an outpatient at the U of M Fairview Hospital. The hospital rate is very good, the hotel is very close to the hospital and the University stadiums. The free parking is great as is the free Wi-Fi. The complementary breakfast is good. The staff is very good and is sincerely committed to making sure you have a great stay. The location is less than a five minute walk to the light rail station and is within easy walking distance of lots of restaurants. The only downside is that the rooms are dated and the hotel could use of rennovation to make it brighter and appear cleaner, the the stay and amenities were fine.

Not that bad compared to the price and location. Breakfast is terrible. Nothing to eat except eggs. They should improve breakfast menu options even though it can lead to an increase of price. I had just one house keeping during 3 nights stay.

It could not be more convenient for a home football game! U of Minnesota football stadium is right across the street (and light rail track). This is the only and most convenient hotel for the game. Lots of friendly tailgating in the hotel parking lot and around the entire foot all stadium. Free parking if you are a guest at the hotel. Walking distance to many places to eat. Hockey and basketball stadiums also right there. Lobby was pleasant. Rooms were average hotel rooms. Bathrooms small. Housekeeping service was excellent. Everyone was friendly.

The only saving grace was its proximity to the University of Minnesota, but that's not nearly enough to justify enduring this hellhole. An absolutely dreadful experience! First, I was given a ground floor room near the entrance and parking lot, essentially making my room a fishbowl for anyone passing by. Sleep was impossible due to the constant noise, and I had to keep the curtains shut all the time. They moved me to another room, but that was no better - my room turned out to be right above the back entrance of the hotel which was for all practical purposes, a noisy smoking lounge at all hours, infiltrating my room with stench and noise. Housekeeping was a joke. They conveniently 'forgot' to clean my room and replace towels, blaming it on the hotel being full. After returning from a long day at the University, I had to carry used towels myself and get new ones from reception. Oh, and the laundry situation? Given the unbelievably hot and humid weather, I had to use more clothes than planned. Despite their 'cashless' policy, they demanded cash for using the laundry, and refused to put it on my card. The manager's rudeness when I confronted them was unbelievable. I was not carrying any cash, therefore ultimately I could not use the laundry facility. As a result I had no choice but to wear my used clothes for last 2 days of my stay! As if that wasn't enough, a 7 AM fire alarm rattled me awake, with no information provided on evacuation. I had to call reception to learn that it was a false alarm. On my penultimate day, their room service played a perfect no-show act, and when they finally turned up during my important Zoom call, they gave me an ultimatum - 'Now or never.' And don't get me started on check-out. They flatly refused to give me a receipt. This hotel is an absolute disaster in every way. Unless you enjoy zero comfort, nonexistent cleanliness, and staff with attitudes, stay far, far away. Avoid this hotel like the plague!
