A decent site that has everything you could want in a campsite. Perhaps not the most fancy, but there are enough facilities and everything is clean enough. It's good value and if you're driving round the Hicks Bay region you can't find much better for the price.

What a find, very peaceful position, large motel rooms, spotlessly clean. Small store with all basics. Lovely lady cooking fish & chips from a quirky caravan until 7pm at night. We were heading for a bigger town to stay and came across this little gem quite by accident. Worth a stay.

We hadn't booked so were hopeful a room would be available. We stayed in a studio motel room which was very comfortable, queen bed, nice lounge seating and wall mounted TV. Kitchen and bathroom looked as if recently updated, was clean. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. Very quiet location.

Not the nicest spot on our campervan adventure of the East Cape. The ground was mushy, so I thought we'd get stuck. The amenities need a lot of love. We had to stay here because it's the closest powered spot to get to the lighthouse on East Cape for the sunrise. (Allow time for 40 minute drive and then a... More

We flew from Australia, travelled from Wellington to the East Coast to visit a piece of property up that ways, we did not intend on staying but after a gruelling long trip both drivers were fatigued, we also had 2 teens and elderly parent on board. We called in on the off chance to grab a bed for the night... More

The innkeep at this holiday park was a little gruff and rough around the edges, but proved to be rather friendly and helpful. The facilities were a little run-down, but clean enough (there was only limited times that hot water was available). That being said, the location was spectacular. Massive, spacious, lush grassy areas to pitch a tent or park... More

cheap camping, You have what you pay for as they said. I think the biggest (bad) surprised was the undrinkable water evrywhere, which makes cooking quite painfull when you have to boil every single amount of water (even to brush your teeth!) I think I was disappointing because it calls itself a holiday park but as definitively not the basic... More

We stayed here for a night to break up the drive between Gisborne and Opotoki....and glad we did. Yes it's grass roots Aotearoa and I think that's the great thing about this place. The scenery is breathtaking and we enjoyed the slow pace of life. I would just mention we were missing a smoke detector (we could see where it... More

Stayed in one of the older units, which was of the standard I expected for this region, at the price. The campground has good shade trees, a shop and average facilities. The beach is a short walk away, but it's of interest for a walk or surfing only. There are signs advertising takeaways and a theatre, but the theatre looks... More

Disappointing is how I would describe this holiday park. The entrance driveway looks promising but then you are confronted with disused equipment and an office/shop in what resembles a machinery parking lot. If it were not for the lateness of the day and the fact we needed to hook up to a 240 volt supply, we would have high-tailed it.... More
