This casino use to be fun playing slots, now it is just a miserable experience. The whole place from gambling to food to condition of the rooms is just awful. After years of regular monthly and sometimes weekly visits our visits had become every 6 months and now that is even too much. I doubt we will ever return. Such as disappointment as we really enjoyed coming here for many years. This casino use to offer better slot play than Mystic Lake or Treasure Island but now is on par with their miserable slot play or even worse. Just frickin bad all around at the big casinos in Minnesota. Save your money for a real casino!
The Grand Casino on Hinckley has the makings of a fun place. Gaming is plentiful, slots are quite tight, but the atmosphere is fun. The bars are easy to get to with good, fast service. The restaurants are where they fail miserably and have for years. Food varies from horrible to mediocre. The service is slow and overall chaotic appearing. Lack of staff does not seem to be the problem. Tried the “to go” area after having too many sad plates at the diner-like restaurant Stories. I was served a hot dog so crunchy it may have been cooked pre-COVID. We we’re glad we passed on the “pepperoni” pizza they were serving. It was a slice of cheese pizza Re warmed with ONE slice of pepperoni in the middle. I was embarrassed for them. The hotel is not worth the money, rooms smell like dirty feet.…
Be prepared to not have WiFi in a musty, smelly, moldy old room with 1990s amenities. This hotel needs to be gutted and redone. They clearly spend no money that they vacuum from you in the casino to update the hotel. Gross and pathetic hotel. They should be ashamed of themselves.
The room was very nice and roomy. Everything was clean and nice. It was great to have both a microwave and refrigerator. My only issue is that we easily lost $200 gambling, and when we asked for a one hour late checkout they insisted on charging us for it. How greedy is that? As long as the hotel isn’t at full occupancy most hotels will give a free one hour late checkout. Their greed just left a rally bad taste in our mouths and we won’t be back again.
way to go grand casino, screwed again, come on up for free cub cards, oh thats not today thats's next week, even tho the flyers we got in the mail said drive up on 11/12 ,but no those aren't until 11/19 , this isnt the first time they have done that but it will be the last time, be a cold day in H_ _ _ before we go there again. Treasure Island and Mystic Lake never do that to you with promaotions , you get what they say you will get. Dennis and Janice N. Coon Rapids
When we entered our hotel room we saw a large black stain on the carpeting, it was just gross. It was obvious the carpeting needed to be replaced many years ago. I took a picture of the stain and showed it to one of the hotel staff. He said yes, a lot of the rooms are like that. Not exactly an apology. We will not be staying here again until they do a refurbish.
There are signs all over the hotel and casino stating that they are smoke free. This hotel is anything but smoke-free. I arrived at the hotel on Sunday evening and immediately noticed the strong cigarette smell. Even the non-smoking rooms smell like smoke. If you look close in the hallways and the elevators, there are ashes in the corners on the floor and along the baseboards. Housekeeping doesn't seem to be doing their job. The overpowering cigarette smell will remain there until the carpet and wallpaper are replaced. There is a coffee cart available and the coffee is just ok. There were no alternate milk choices for coffee except soy (yuck). Come one...step into the 21st century and add some almond and oat milk to your choices. There is only one restaurant open on Monday and Tuesday (Provisions). This restaurant is in the food court and is the only one open at this time, I am assuming this is due to COVID. Provisions does have food, but the quality is sub-par. My ham sandwich was soggy. The other two restaurants, The Winds steakhouse and Stories Diner do have decent food. The carpet in the diner is questionable and had a strange odor. The rooms really need updating.…
If they're going going put you in a room they haven't updated since 1990, it would be nice to be charged 1990 prices. These are $40 rooms they charge $100 for. Dirty. Smelly. Loud. Gross. Ish. Yuk. This place is a DUMP and needs a total remodel! It's 2021! Get some WiFi that works at least!
My wife bought tickets to see a concert August 2021. We booked a room for 1 night. They did not have much for availability. We ended up getting a room in the West wing 3rd floor. The room was disgusting, old, worn looking, stains in the carpets, which is probably where the stench was coming from. Definitely not worth $300 + for an old bed and old furniture. If there were any other options we would have left. Will never book a room there again. I took some photos, but did not see option to upload.
Fast and easy to book a reservation. Parking was packed, drove around for at least 15 minutes before finding a parking spot. Didn't realize there are so many gamblers in Minnesota. The staff are very pleasant and very helpful. The rooms could use an update especially the flooring which was thread bare. Lots of places to eat, and a lot of places to lose your money.
