First trip to Ely to Paddle the BWCA and we picked a winner. The place is located out away from town but not to far as to be a real inconvenience. Right on a beautiful lake and they have a dock. Like everyone has said in the reviews, the breakfast is one of the best I have had at any...

Fantastic place, nestled in the woods right on the edge of the Boundary Waters. Very comfortable rooms, pleasant and abundant common spaces, quiet and peaceful. We were well taken care of. Breakfasts were delicious, and they made special accommodations for my picky diet and our pre-race breakfast needs. So above and beyond. Really nice people running this sweet spot. I...

It was a really good stay at Blue Heron. We came here for relaxing and canoeing and it was just perfect. We slept in a big 2 beds room with our 4 yr old son, the linen were so sweet! The pancakes were delightful for breakfast. Really warm welcoming from our guests. We all had a great time!

This is a special place. The B&B is located on a lake right next to the Boundary Waters, so we kayaked into the Boundary Waters each day, and enjoyed the unspoiled beauty of the lakes. We also hiked in the area each day. But then we could relax and enjoy the B&B. It's a very comfortable, welcoming place. I felt...

Mark and Dawn are very friendly and welcoming to the Blue Heron; they create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our first B&B experience and we were not disappointed! Canoed and kayaked the Boundary Waters, enjoyed the relaxing decks. Our room was absolutely gorgeous and the view was beautiful. Breakfast was to die for!!!!

I traveled to Ely to visit my son in Ely and stayed in the So Forth Room for 5 nights. My room opened to the deck and I could see the lake. The inn is very peaceful and comfortable. Mark and Dawn are exceptionally hospitable and friendly. They also kindly welcomed my son and girlfriend at breakfast. The breakfasts were...

Overall, My husband and I had a nice stay at this B&B. I feel it's important to make note of some things that bothered us so other travelers are aware of these things as well. I did not like the semiprivate doors on the bathrooms (all the rooms had these.) I never saw this type of door anywhere before other...

ChicagoGal64, Thank you for your review. We would like to clarify a few things. The doors are not semi private meaning they are half doors. They are full doors that pull out and are shutter like. they are not a solid door like in a hotel but they still give you privacy. The blinking light is our fire system that...

My husband and I recently stayed for three days at the Blue Heron. We stayed in the "So On" room which was extremely comfortable. The over all ambience of the Blue Heron is very comfortable rustic. The B&B has kayaks and canoes available for their guests to use. Breakfast is family style with all the guests sharing a table which...

I love coming to the Blue Heron B&B, we have been there several times over the past few years and I always find it a great place to relax and resource myself. Mark and Dawn are great hosts and always help to make our stay memorable. The property is located on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and...

Huge thanks to Mark and Dawn for going out of their way to accommodate the two members of our family who are vegan. The breakfasts were delicious, varied, and bountiful. We also appreciated the trail lunches they prepared for us. The B&B is located in a gorgeous spot at the end of a gravel road, right on the edge of...
