We found Timber Trail Lodge to be a very clean, friendly place to stay. The owners and staff are friendly, and always available, to make sure our stay was enjoyable. It is one of the few true family run lodges , and that seems to always be a plus. Nice beach, nice clean cabins, with several new cabins, and a...

We stayed here for three days in late May and found the website to be a bit deceptive as to what we found when we arrived. The cabin photo makes it appear to be secluded when really it has two cabins on each side of it within about 30 feet. According to the site, "the modernized kitchen has all new...

We stayed here the week before the fishing opener and were very much impressed with the quietness. We stayed in the newest cabin, Wintergreen, and had plenty of room and lots of solitude. The main portion of the resort looked a bit cramped, but probably normal for most resorts in the area. We got a great pricing deal and were...

We just returned from a Thanksgiving weekend stay at Timber Trail. We stayed in Basswood cabin (2 adults and our dog). It was clean and cozy. We appreciated the rustic setting with the nice view of the lake. We enjoyed cooking, playing games at the big kitchen table, and reading by the fireplace. It was our first time to Ely,...

Had a pretty nice stay in the offseason. The location was prime on beautiful farm lake. Our cabin was very well maintained on the inside, every thing worked well, the water was hot, and you could tell that the owners take good care of the cabins. It's only fair to point out some of the things that detracted from an...

We have been coming here every Aug. for the last 11 yrs. with friends that have been coming here since the Forsbergs opened 18 yrs ago. We travel 11 hrs. from Illinois and can say it has been worth it every time. They always make us feel like we are family and do whatever they can to make our stay...

I have been to Timber Trails 17 times over the past ten years, and each trip is a treat. We've stayed in several different cabins, and each one was great. The Forsberg family is always so welcoming to us. And, if you need a guide, like we always do, Rob Nelson will not disappoint. Our September trip this year was...

This was our best family trip yet. There was something for everyone...canoeing, hiking, fishing, shopping, sandy beach with paddle boats and kyacks. The cabins were adorable and very clean with helpful staff. A must destination.

My extended family (3 generations + dogs) has been staying at Timber Trail for at least a week each summer for probably close to 20 years (and coming to the Ely area for much longer than that). We have stayed in at least three of the Timber Trail cabins as well as all 4 of the little motel efficiency kitchenettes,...

Great cabins and awsome service. After staying at this perfect northwoods resort it's no wonder why ely is one of the coolest towns. I will be back this summer.
