We just returned from a three night stay and really enjoyed the place. The location is beautiful! The resort is on its own little Cove which you can walk around to out to the point. It is about a 10 minute walk. There is a little private beach you could use. We stayed in the family suite which included a king bed and queen/twin bunk with an extra sofa. The room itself wasn’t all that spacious for being a suite. They told us we could put our bikes inside the room for safekeeping at night so long as we didn’t scratch the walls… Others must’ve done the same because there were already some dings in the paint. To save time in the morning my husband used the shower/locker room down the hall adjacent to the pool entrance. The resort itself has some nice touches like ginger snap cookies in the lobby, board games set up for you, movie rentals, and lots of picnic tables outside. Presumably they have a breakfast buffet during normal times, but due to Covid you could select from three to-go breakfast options which were all large portions. You could take these to go or eat it in their dining room. There is a lot of food in each box! I enjoy trying the Scandinavian option, which reminded me a lot of a previous trip to Norway. They do provide s’mores kits at the front desk and have a nice area for a fire, but due to the dry conditions currently fires are no longer allowed. The resort is in A good location directly on the Gucci Gammi trail… A short bike ride to Splitrock Lighthouse. It is about a 1 Hour Dr. to Grand Marais, which is a great day trip. The pool and hot tub were nice after a long day of hiking. Again your typical hotel pool. There is also a sauna. I do think the best part about this resort is the beautiful grounds, and the charming atmosphere.

We stayed in a third floor lodge king room with balcony and fireplace. We had a great view of Lake Superior, especially since we were there for a full moon. Everything in this lodge is kept very clean. A replenishment supply of clean towels, toiletries, and coffee supplies was delivered daily in a bag outside of our room. Every evening, you make your selection from two choices of pickup breakfasts. The breakfasts are good and very bountiful. I had enough leftovers for lunch. All of the rooms in the lodge are on the lakeside, and the hallway has plenty of open windows. We left our balcony door and window open, too. The grounds are beautiful and quiet. One night we got takeout from the lodge restaurant and ate it on one of the many outdoor tables. The second night we ate in the lodge restaurant, which is has very socially distanced seating. Both meals were delicious. I used the pool and spa in the late afternoon, and had them all to myself. The staff members were all helpful and friendly. The other guests were all mask-compliant. I highly recommend CPL.

We stayed here for a long weekend in December. The property looks like what you would expect for a northern Minnesota lodge, rather rustic with a Scandinavian style. The man that checked us in was very friendly. Our room was large with a fireplace, balcony and lake view. The room was clean and very comfortable. There was a nice large walk-in shower and the bed was very comfortable. Their pool and hot tub area was clean and we enjoyed soaking in the hot tub while looking out over the lake. We ate dinner both nights and found the food to be very good. The service was also efficient and friendly. Their breakfast was like a box lunch which you picked up at the bar area. You could chose two different breakfasts. I hope they go back to a real hot breakfast when things permit. We had a truly enjoyable stay.

When I called in April, this was the only 3 BR unit that had any openings for a summer reservation. Beware - the website is deceiving. It lists unit #613 where we stayed as a cottage and shows pictures only of the inside. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed when we arrived and found this unit to be a middle unit of older townhomes built at least 30 plus years ago. The new looking cottages on the website are the Fjord cottages (website does not clarify this.) Person I talked to when making the reservation also did not mention this significant difference. I would not have paid $500 per night if I had known this wasn't one of the new looking cottages shown on the website.
The Windsong "cottages" are just managed by Cove Point. #613 has an owner and although spacious needs updating and repairs. We could not get hot water in the kitchen. Dishwasher did not clean dishes well. Chairs on deck were broken.
We walked by the Fjord Cottages and they looked lovely, but after this disappointment we won't go back.

We visited Cove Point Lodge over Valentines Weekend and were more than impressed with the establishment. Everything about the place is cozy and comfortable - especially the wood fire in the lobby area. We would highly recommend for a romantic weekend getaway. The views were amazing and the staff was very friendly. We didn't discover the fish house by the water until the day we left. We'll definitely be back!

We live in near by Silver Bay so we thought we would go somewhere nice for Valentines. They had a Valentine special, and a reg. menu. the reg. menu had mashed potatos and the special had baked. I don't like mashed so I asked if I could switch, NO was the answer. I asked if they had any other veg other than asparagas YUCK. NO!. So to get the baked potato I had to order the special which I gave the shrimp and asparags to my hubby. My pepsi was empty and they never asked to refill it. Then I got the dessert which was supposed to be choc cake. it was like a brick of a hersey bar with fake whipped cream, my husband got the salmon which was like the cheap frozen ones you get a cub. but he said it was good. for a $100 bucks you would expect better food and better service. Oh I ordered ranch dressing on my weird salad and it came with blue cheese. not going back.

Firstly we stay at Cove Point several times a year but this last time was pretty disappointing. We made reservations twice for the pool and both times we showed up in the subzero temps in our bathing suits to be told someone wrote the wrong time down. How is this even possible?

Going to the pool at lodge is the highlight of our kids stay. I called the front desk, they made a note of this but did nothing to make it up to us or even acknowledge what happened.

Now with the breakfast to go in bags there’s a lot of disappointment these days. Don’t let this prevent you from going... just confirm your pool times at least once because they have staff working there who is careless and management that doesn’t care.

My wife and I stay here several time a year, winter and spring. This year, we stayed in the lodge- each room has great views of Lake Superior. Our stay was graced with a beautiful sunrise on our last day here- it was a very cold morning (-20F) and the lake was spectacular as the sun rose over the steaming water (the Lake is not frozen this year).

My husband and I stayed for two days at Cove Point Lodge shortly after they opened after being closed for Minnesota's stay at home period. We had received an email with all the information needed for our stay. The lodge was ready for us. The staff wore masks, the rooms were clean and sanitized. Their grab and go breakfasts were awesome My husband loves their Scandinavian breakfast. His grab and go had herring, beets, cucumbers, sliced meats and cheeses, hard boiled egg, a huge grapefruit, granola bar... My complimentary breakfast was equally awesome. The Crossings was available for evening take out. We enjoyed our stay on the north shore and felt comfortable and safe.

We are a family of 3, traveling with our school age child. We look for clean, convenient, and family friendly. We chose this lodge for it's beautiful location. This lodge is right on the water and walking around by the water was one of the highlights of our trip. My child really enjoyed the pool, the fish house (i think that's the name) where there are board games and such. We all enjoyed cornhole on the back lawn by the water. We ate at the restaurant for dinner two nights of our stay. The first time was wonderful service and food. The second time we ate there was a little different. Seated about 30 mins after our reservation time and food took over an hour to get and we were one of the last ones to leave. Food was good, but service like that puts a damper on the experience. Breakfast had lots of options, We tried the herring and Scandinavian offerings but not really our taste. We are foodies so we enjoyed trying anyway. We stayed in a lodge room, which was comfortable but small. A larger room is available for higher cost. My child loved that they had coloring pages and colored pencils in the lobby. She was able to color both nights at dinner and it was memorable for her. They offer smores each evening at no additional cost which we took advantage of and enjoyed. The property is absolutely relaxing and beautiful. We look back on it as a place we'd like to go back to. One con- their pool was highly chlorinated, so much so that it bleached our swimsuits. We travel often and swim a alot, and have never had this experience.

I don't recall that service. They may have a better answer or maybe they know of someone for hire.
