I would like to recommend the Somerset Inn as a fantastic place to stay and do business. They have excellent conference capacity. The rooms were comfortable and the beds were outstanding. We have an international remote team who meets quarterly and we did training etc in Detroit. The location to shopping and dining was great. We will bring our team back again!
Stayed five nights with my 16 year old son for the USA Hockey Nationals competition. Pleasant staff, easy check in. We requested 2 doubles and a refrigerator, and the reservation was correct when we checked in and arrived in our room. Bathroom is extremely clean. Have someone clean the lime scale around the faucet handles before your black counters are ruined! Bedding is bright white and appears new and clean, mattresses were fine but pillows were either squishy or rock hard. Carpets seem clean, but under the beds were many candy wrappers. Breakfast buffet for our USA Hockey group was every morning with generously long hours. Huge steaming trays of real, not powdered, scrambled eggs, perfect bacon, large chunks of browned country potatoes, either pancakes or french toast and every imaginable bread, bagel or muffin. Cold cereal but no oatmeal for GF girl. Fruit was only apples oranges and bananas, I would have enjoyed some melon, berries or a fruit salad instead. Banquet servers were very efficient at keeping stocked and cleaning up. Nice job day after day. Check out was also a breeze. Was charged $10 for a room microwave we didn't receive, but easily corrected. Microwave for all rooms in the tower is in the executive business center, behind the single desk and computer. Odd placement, but I didn't need it this trip. Towels, soap and toiletries were readily available from housekeeping or front desk if more were needed, but room housekeeping service was still limited due to covid restrictions. Hotel fitness center includes two treadmills, one bike and two ellipticals plus some large mats and a set of dumbbells. Enough for a basic workout, and not the smallest hotel gym I have seen. Elevators in the main hotel are very efficient and keep waiting to a minimum. Bar service was friendly and prices not unreasonable. House wine was quite tasty! I did not dine here but based on the breakfast I am sure their food is competently prepared. All in all, a very pleasant stay. …
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. When I first saw the bed I thought it was a little small for a queen size. My husband thought it was OK so we left the room to celebrate. That night, we realized that this is really a full size bed instead of the queen size we had reserved. In the morning I spoke with the hotel desk clerk and she snippily told me that there are several queen size beds just as there are with king size. I guess I look stupid. We went back-and-forth for a while and I decided to let it go. Later that night around 630, we got a call from someone saying a manager had them call me as I was not happy with our queen size room. I said that’s because it’s not queen size. She offered a king size but I declined as we were on our way out for 7 o’clock dinner reservations and did not want to miss them and we were checking out the next morning anyway. This was a miserable sleep we bumped into each other all night or either hung on the edge of the bed. AAA contacted them and they insisted that it was a queen size bed. They even got a call from the general manager who said he measured the bed and it was 80 inches. I had laid my husband size 12 shoes across The width of the bed and could only get four shoes on the bed, nowhere near 80 inches. I took pictures and sent them to the Better Business Bureau and filed a dispute with my credit card company. I’ve never had to file a dispute with a hotel most hotels value their customers if there’s a problem but not this place. Offering a different room would’ve been nice when I made my initial complaint earlier that morning rather than giving me excuses then calling me when there were only a few hours of stay left.…
We stayed here on business. Great location for our meeting but the hotel is a bit outdated. Lobby dated. Older style rooms. Small bathrooms. Not a lot of amenities. Staff were friendly. Nice courtyard for drinks. Easy parking as not many there.
This Hotel is very nice with a wart or two. Check in was professional and positive. There was a mix up on our request for a King bed but after a bit of juggling we got a room with a King bed. Room was very quiet. Since it does not have a pool, there were no kids making noise which was nice. Now the wart....The wall thermostat is motion detecting meaning that the Air Conditioner did not work when you were away from the room, so upon your return the room was stuffy and hot...cooling down took about 15 minutes. Then you discover the A/C shuts down as you sleep as no motion is sensed. I hate these insidious motion detecting thermostats with a passion. We used a milar ballon on a ribbon to keep the motion detecting thermostat functional. Guest should not have to endure this...…
They can't seem to generate a e-receipt and have it to you within 24 hours of your stay...and, WORSE, they don't provide a paper one under your door. I've had to call, typically, 4 or 5 times to get one emailed to me. Online reservation system is also lacking.
For starters, as mentioned in other reviews, rooms are clean. Unfortunately they are very outdated. The bathrooms are small and outdated. No refrigerator, when I called the front desk they offered to bring me one for an extra $10 a night. I figured no big deal I’ll get ice. The ice bucket looks worn out like the inside was cleaned with a wire brush and no bag for it. I asked if I can get a new bag or bucket, they at least offered to bring me one. For $191 after taxes, just expect more. Branded hotels a mile down the road are much nicer for same price or better
Front desk staff are the best bit about this place. The bar feels like it was erected by a 10 year old, the WiFi is worse than than the 4G connection and patchier. The engines of inter-regional jets are quieter than the in-room conditioning units. Difficult to recommend; if it was not for the front desk staff it would have been a two.
Close to Somerset Collection. The rooms were the cleanest I have seen in a long time! Seriously! Beds were supportive and comfortable.Staff courteous and helpful. The Crumpets Restaurant within the hotel was delish. Impeccable service.
Staff is nice. Charming boutique hotel walking distant to the Somerset Mall. Very nice rooms, great bedding. Well worth the price. Always clean. Lots of parking, they also offer a shuttle service if you ask for it.
