This hotel was conveniently located and appeared to have a competitive price. However the hallways were smelly and the outer door was not locked nor was there any security methods being utilized. In the room everything was very dated and also not extremely clean. There are much better hotels in the area and the price paid was excessive for the quality.
We have stayed at many of the big name suite hotel chains (Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Suites, Country Inn and Suites) and this place ranks right up there with them. Very clean and comfortable. The 1 bedroom suite is spacious, and the kitchen is well equipped for longer stays. The pump containers of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower is unique. No complaints here.
We last stayed here in 2019 when it was Candlewood Suites. Based on that wonderful stay, we booked another 2 night stay last week. It appears that much has changed (in a bad way) since our previous visit, and ownership change. Some observations: 1. I requested a room on the upper level, but was told everything was sold out, and was given a room on the first floor facing the parking lot. Just seems strange if the parking lot was never more than 1/4 full, was the hotel really sold out?
Booked this hotel for our first cross border shopping trip after Covid based on the rating. And it was gross and run down and not what we wanted at all. Our studio room had peeling paint on the toilet seats, as if someone had poured acid on them and the hotel never changed them. Stains on the pillow cases and blankets. My parents one bedroom suite smelled of cigarette smoke! Strange in a non smoking hotel. But one day as we returned noticed people clustered outside smoking near the exit doors and their room. Maybe that’s why? Unpleasant. As the booker of hotels, I felt bad subjecting them to this one. We requested rooms on the highest floor and quiet. Given rooms on the first floor right next to parking lot. On check in, front desk lady quite rude to customers right before us. Asians that were wearing masks. Bad vibes; anti Asian hate during covid? And never anyone at the desk when we came in and out. Perhaps short staffed from Covid? Not sure Don’t waste your valuable time and money at this hotel. Book elsewhere!…
We stayed at this hotel for 63 nights. The room was updated, clean and well equipped for anything we needed. We stayed on the second floor and only occasionally heard anyone above us. We never heard any noise in the halls, or rooms next to us. The free laundry facility and gym were a life saver. The manager Paula was superb in extending our stay several times. The location is great, near Somerset Mall, I75, and a ton of restaurants for all budgets. All of the employees that worked the desk were very friendly and accommodating, anytime we needed anything. This was a perfect, no frills hotel.
We loved the way Ursula made us feel at home. She was fun and quick when we checked in. The hotel is homey and probably one of our new favorites in the area. Even the small studio was enough room for us. We will be back!
We stayed here 1 night with our 2 dogs. I have to say I was surprised at how nice the room was, Staff was great, Tom was clean and it even had a kitchenette. They also have a small area where you can purchase food items to cook, toiletries, etc. plus coin operated washers and dryers. Great for extended stay or travel with pets.
This was our first stay at Candlewood Suites, and we can't wait to return. Usually we stay at one of 3 hotels in Auburn Hills, but the Troy area is much better for us. We stayed 2 nights here. It was almost like being at home. The bed in the separate bedroom was so comfortable. It was so quiet in our suite. I never heard any other visitors. The bathroom was large. Having a full kitchen (microwave, stove top, refrigerator, dishwasher) was another plus although we didn't use it that often due to the number of good restaurants within minutes. Everything was so clean. Shopping at Somerset is also just minutes away. WiFi was strong up on the 3rd floor. Candlewood Suites is conveniently located minutes off of I-75. I can't think of anything bad to say, except possibly that there is housekeeping only after 7 days. For a 2 night stay, it didn't matter.…
We were very please with our stay. It was quiet, comfortable and had absolutely no problems. We stayed for 10 days and we can confidently say, this was one of the BEST hotel experiences we have had. Staff was helpful when needed and always friendly. Highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a home away from home feeling!
We really like this Candlewood Suites and consider it our home away from home during our annual visit to the Detroit area. Our recent 8 day stay was very pleasant with one notable exception. We stayed in room 130, as is our habit, and found it still equipped, with a very unsatisfactory recliner. Recliners are important to me, since I sometimes have to sleep in a recliner to cope with chronic joint and muscle pain. Sadly, the recliner in room 130 has a footrest that is so difficult to retract that it requires strenuous effort. My wife can't retract it at all, so she uses a chair as a footrest. I can get the darn thing to retract, but only with great difficulty (hard kick with my heel on the footrest, plus a hard pull on the handle). When i complained, I was told that the mechanism cannot be adjusted.…
