Even though stayed more than once there before, when we made mistake on reservation date, neither hotel nor Traveleuro would correct it. Neither hotel nor Traveleuro cared enough about customer service or repeat business to cater to customer and correct the mistake. Lost money and learned lesson about businesses who dont care much about customers.
This hotel is a little dated but overall met our needs. We are visiting Detroit and did not want to pay downtown prices. Troy is closed enough to the city to justify the drive for the cost savings and the Quality Inn presented a fair price. There were some basic maintenance needs that were noticeable but did not detract from our stay. Things like wall patches that have not been repainted and some general dingy-ness. Check-in was simple and we easily made out way to the room. The AC was set to 70, bedding was clean and the room was clean overall. The door to the bathroom was worn and needed a little extra effort to shut. The one big issue with the room was the tub. There was a drip when we walked in and some detritus in the tub itself. I ran both the hot and cold water and some funk came out but then the water ran clean. It seemed like maybe the tub just had not been used in a while and there was some build up. After a few seconds things seemed normal. When I turned the faucets back off the water drip seemed better but not completely gone. Same “dirty” water situation for the faucet but, again, after a few seconds all was well; the sink was slow to drain but did. Fast forward to the morning, after a shower the hot water faucet in the tub would not shut off. Seemed like a valve may have failed allowing the water to continue running. Called the front desk and they offered to move us, we were checking out so we were fine, and shared that the maintenance team wouldn’t be in for a few hours. It’s reasonable someone isn’t there around the clock, just felt bad that all that water was going to waste.…
Tub drained slow, counter cracked in half, sink had large cracks in it, refrigerator didn’t work well, bloodstains on mattress, furniture filthy and stained, huge amount of dust, bathroom sink and counter not cleaned. They have a pool which was one of the reasons we booked here. Pool was closed “ indefinitely” as was the restaurant. Will not be back.
We stayed for two nights to spend Fourth of July in Troy. The location is perfect as the hotel was near the 75 and near the Somerset Mall where we did some shopping. The front desk staff were very welcoming and informative. The rooms were updated and cleaner from the last year I visited.
If you're looking for a inexpensive place to sleep and don't care about anything else, this is your place. Rooms: lights and power plugs lacking. Needs serious updating. No hot breakfast as advertised, just a "bag" breakfast (no utensils)
We were in for 1 night stay for a wake/funeral. Booked 3 rooms. The price was right but the rooms need some serious updating and maintenance. Room 1 needed better cleaning (cobwebs, dirty floors). The lamps were garbage, the toilet paper roll holder fell off, ceiling in bathroom paint totally peeling. Room 2 ok with cleanliness, could do better on tub floor. Bathroom door handle falling off. Room 3 ok cleanliness but serious maintenance in this room. Lamps, bed frames, outside door all falling apart (peeling paint/veneer) the AC/Heater wall unit face falling off. All 3 rooms had similar issues. Balcony doors either didnt work or bad draft or dirty. The lobby was beautiful but they need to move up to the rooms and really upgrade. Thr front desk staff was GREAT. I also left my charger there, didnt realize till hrs later, went back and they found it. Thumbs up to staff and pricing, thumbs down to the room conditions. Disappointing because our usual choice of hotels is usually Quality Inns. Not much "Quality" this time.…
We've stayed at this hotel at least once a year for almost a decade. Never again. Although a bit worn-out and lacking sufficient electrical outlets in the rooms, it was a good value because it included a good hot breakfast. Now 'breakfast' is a small paper bag that you have to pick up at the front desk. You are offered no choices in the contents. It included a small can of orange juice and a sealed plastic cup containing mandarin orange slices, neither of which my wife could consume due to allergies to citrus. I tried to open the orange slices and it exploded juice all over my shirt and slacks. Also, there was no spoon or fork included to eat the orange slices with or even a single napkin to clean up the spill! Furthermore, the fitted bed sheet kept coming unfitted from the uncomfortable mattress. Lastly, on the morning we checked out we discovered to our disgust that there was a used condom lying under the bed right at the edge of the bed frame!!…
We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and it was lovely. Front desk staff were friendly, place was well kept, looked new actually. All I can say now is that we will never stay here again. We stayed 3 nights at the end of September. From the apathetic front desk clerk when checking in to the state of the room given, it was all so unacceptable. We dealt with 3 different clerks and each one was a sour puss. When making reservations, I requested a handicap room. Was given a regular room which I corrected. I will be specifically writing about Room # 113. This room needs maintenance. Upon entering it was obvious that this room hasn't been cleaned recently. No fresh smell or air of cleanliness. Okay. So I'm not going to write a novel here because I have pictures which tell a good story. When checking out, I get the same clerk who checked us in and she is the same indifferent person. Doesn't ask how our stay was, doesn't give me my receipt. I forgot to ask but it should be given automatic. However, I do inform her of my unhappiness with the room. I tell her the room is a dump. She's shocked. I also tell her it is NOT a handicap room. She says it is. Then you're not complying with the law, I say. Nothing handicap accessible about it. In conclusion, look, we all understand during these Covid times, there is a staff shortage, unhappy people under duress. In the hospitality business, you just got to put on a smile, even if you don't feel it. We never felt welcome. Upon when entering and exiting the hotel I would acknowledge the front desk with a smile or a nod and no response. They just looked at me. In conclusion, I hope someone from Corporate reads these reviews. Like I said in the beginning, this was a lovely hotel a couple of years ago but it has been allowed to deteriorate. Scratches on the walls, damaged front doors, old worn furniture. Pass on Room #113…
The lobby gave a very "tired" vibe. Our room was clean in most of the touch-areas, but not otherwise, paint was defaced, and it was generally unwelcoming. At bedtime we noted a little water on the bathroom floor, wiped it up and went to bed. After a few trips to the toilet during the night we had more and more urine on the floor due to the toilet base leaking. As we left for the day, the discussion with the manager was mostly cordial and helpful, and she said they would have another room for us when we returned that evening. She promised to refund one-night of the reward points we used for our stay. To make a long story shorter, the upgraded (Jacuzzi) room they put us into was similar to the first room in condition. The toilet did not leak, but the missing faucet aerator in the sink caused water to spray all over the counter and me. Adjusting it to a trickle kept me dry but the water still ran back down the faucet and all over the counter. There was no bulb in the heat lamp, and the ironing board and iron were missing. I reported these issues without complaining. I was informed that the process for restoring my reward points required that I call customer service at Choice Hotels. Overall, I spent 2-3 hours in that effort with no results. I fault the continual "unavailability" of the manager for confirmation and Choice Hotels for this failure. It pains me to have to write this review. I used to be a repeated Gold member and a very satisfied customer of Choice Hotels, but they have really gone down...hill in the past couple years. Shortly after the incident I tried to write a review of this hotel on the Choice Hotels site, but nowhere could I find how to access the link to do that. It appears that reporting an issue results in your account being locked out of the review writing page. No wonder this hotel still had a rating of 3.8-3.9.…
We arrived to the hotel at 1:00am after a long 12 hour drive. The front desk personnel was not very friendly. She was very aloof. Quickest check in we’ve ever received. We were given our keys and off we went to a room that looked as if we’d arrived in a slum house. Apparently the company we used booked us in a room with a double bed when we paid for a King. We tried to call to the front desk but no answer. We walked three floors down with our luggage to explain the mixup. The clerk didn’t offer us an upgrade, just differed the problem to the booking company. We had to ask for an upgrade, which she did give to us, but there was no extension of friendliness or help to the situation . The elevator was disgusting. The smell was heavy with a musty odor, the carpet was thick with black dirt , soot , I honestly couldn’t tell you what it was , it was just gross. The halls were marked up pretty bad. The doors to rooms were banged up , some chipped and cracked. We got to our room, no light . Pitch black and freezing cold. Two lights didn’t work . We finally found one next to the bed. The bathroom light? Where?? We had to use the heat lamp to light the bathroom! The carpeted floors felt sticky. The room hadn’t been dusted. The refrigerator needs to be defrosted. There was hair , a big clump, on the bed side table and a hair tie on the floor. We were so tired after a long 12 hour drive we just wanted sleep and over looked it. When we woke in the morning we noticed there was food crumbs on the top bed cover ! I mean come on ! The balcony floor was dirty with garbage still on it. The door didn’t even shut completely. There was a lock that had been installed to keep it shut. The shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom was partially used and slightly opened. Disgusting is what I feel after my stay here. I would never recommend this “hotel”. I’ve stayed in motels cleaner and better kept than this “quality” Inn, which was the quality of a dump. A hotel should do better than this, A LOT better! Do not stay here.…
